Race 1: THE BEACH CLUB BOOK NOW QTIS Three-Year-Old RATINGS BAND 0 - 62 Handic 1200 metres The start of this event was delayed approximately 2 minutes after SHEZABEANS dislodged its rider en route to the barriers and had to be recaptured. ANGELS SHARE – Momentarily tightened near the 900 metres when SILVER BRO shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was advised to exercise greater care. Laid in in the home straight and proved difficult to ride. SHEZABEANS – Rider dislodged en route to the barriers. Prior to being loaded into the barriers the saddle on SHEZABEANS was readjusted and the filly underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Rider M Palmer was assessed by QAS staff and cleared to ride. FUNKY BEAT – Stood flat-footed at the start and lost considerable ground. Trainer J Crompton was advised the filly must obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing again. Race 2: THE PALMS MAGIC EDITION Colts, Geldings and Entires RATINGS BAND 0 - 6 1100 metres TACTICAL MOVE – Laid in approaching the home turn. Suffered a fatal bleeding attack on entering the home straight before crashing through the inside running rail and dislodging rider M Palmer who was transported to hospital after being treated on course by QAS staff. Rider M Palmer was advised he would require a medical certificate before riding again. Post-mortem swab samples were taken from TACTICAL MOVE. BULLET RAIDERS – Raced three wide without cover for majority of the event. CRAB BOY – Trainer W Nugent was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the gelding. Raced three wide with cover in early and middle stages of the event. NAKANAI – As had attained 12 years of age, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and cleared to start. Race 3: 2YO TAB CALCUTTA JANUARY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres All races were put back one time slot with race 8 to be run at 5:35pm as a result of rider M Palmer being attended to by QAS staff and remedial work to the inside running rail being undertaken following an incident in Race 2. The track rating was upgraded to a Good 4 following Race 2. FAST THINKER – On dismounting rider T Wolfgram sustained an injury to his right leg before being assessed by QAS staff and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Steadied leaving 100 metres when awkwardly placed between runners. EXTREME JEWEL – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Held up from the entrance to the home straight before being shifted wider passing the 200 metres. ARCALETTE – Over-raced after being crossed by FAST THINKER near the 900 metres before shifting out and racing outside the leader from that point. Shifted out under pressure over final 100 metres. Race 4: THANK YOU JOCKEYS Maiden Handicap 900 metres The start was delayed approximately 2 minutes when KEEP MOVING FORWARD underwent a veterinary examination before being cleared to start.YUPPIE – Apprentice T Wilson-Taylor, rider of YUPPIE, was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on six occasions prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. THAT'S MY OPINION – Taken wider rounding the home turn by SERRATALLI which shifted out to improve. COAT OF ARMS – Lost off fore plate in running. KEEPMOVING FORWARD – After being loaded into the barriers became fractious, was removed, examined by veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. DREAM WEAVING – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ELA BEACH – Blundered on jumping. Raced wide throughout. SERRATALLI – Slow to begin. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 300 metres and became unbalanced. IN HAVANA – Reared as the start was affected. Rider T Brooker reported the filly felt awkward in its action on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities Race 5: BOBBY O'BRIEN MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 900 metres After being loaded in the barriers, REMEMBER MARY became fractious , reared was removed from the barriers before being declared a late scratching at 3:41pm on veterinary advice. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on REMEMBER MARY be refunded with the following deductions to apply: 1ST I’VE GOTTA NEL – 4 cents win, 5 cents win2nd THE TENOR – 3 cents place3rd I AM THE GENERAL – 5 cents place RAMTASTIC – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the performance rider T Wolfgram explained he was satisfied with the gelding’s overall performance adding RAMTASTIC was not suited by the wide draw and would be better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today. THE TENOR – Steadied from heels near the 600 metres before being shifted wider to improve. I AM THE GENERAL – T Brooker, rider of I AM THE GENERAL, was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(5) for use of the whip on fifteen occasions in totality. FOUR MORE MILLERS – Raced three wide throughout. INKBLOT – Slow to begin. CRISTOVAO – Declared a late scratching at 9.40am on veterinary advice. Trainer T Banks was advised a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to CRISTOVAO starting in any trial or race. Race 6: THANK YOU TRAINERS Fillies and Mares RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1100 metres SUPER FREAK – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced three wide throughout. DANCES WITH TIME – Bumped at the start. DREAMALINA – Jumped out at the start and bumped NO NO NINETTE. Taken wider near the 800 metres. A post-race veterinary examination of DREAMALINA revealed a laceration to the off hind leg, consistent with having been galloped on. NO NO NINETTE – Trainer M Currie was fined $100 pursuant to LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the mare. Bumped at the start. Checked at the 700 metres. V Venkaya, rider of DREAMALINA, pleaded guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 700 metres he permitted his mount to shift in from a three wide position to a one off position when insufficiently clear of NO NO NINETTE which had to be checked. The license of V Venkaya to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 31st December up to and including 8th January 2021. MISS BARTY – Near the 800 metres, after being crossed and over-racing, shifted out to avoid the heels of BRAZEN DYNAMO taking DREAMALINA wider on the track. IN HER ZONE – Tightened at the start. Race 7: THANK YOU OWNERS Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres SOKUDO – Rider T Wolfgram was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted. GO DARCY – Raced three wide in the early stages before progressing forward to race outside the leader near the 1300 metres. Hung out noticeably inside the final 100 metres. MONAAFASAH - Steadied near the 1300 metres. KAIBERRY – Fractious after being loaded into the barriers. Reared at the start and lost ground. Steadied near the 1300 metres and over-raced for a short distance. HELSUN – Improved onto heels near the 1400 metres before shifting out and racing three wide for the remainder of the event. Carried wider rounding the home turn when KAIBERRY shifted out to improve. BOLTIN' DESIRE - Carried wider rounding the home turn when KAIBERRY shifted out to improve. Race 8: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM GCTC Class 2 Plate 1200 metres FINAL DECLARATION – Near the 500 metres raced ungenerously when steadied from heels and shifted wider. Rider C Meehan was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres, two more than permitted. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. LIABILITY – Raced three wide throughout without cover. Carried wider near the 500 metres. L'AMANTE – As M Palmer was engaged at another venue, permission was granted for J Taylor to replace him as the rider.
