GENERAL
 
Leading up to today’s meeting, all 2-year-old and 3-year old horses were subjected to pre-race day sampling.
 
RACE 1: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1200 METRES
 
DANEZEL – Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.
 
ADELAIDE'S LIGHT – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
DOCTOR JACK – Overraced in the early stages.
 
FOR VALOUR – Rider N. Rawiller dropped his whip near the 250 metre mark. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider N. Rawiller stated that the gelding travelled well however when placed under pressure the gelding failed to respond and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  
 
HEY BIG SPLENDA – Had to be taken outwards in the early part of the straight to obtain clear running. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
BOOM EXPRESS – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to display signs of mild thumps.  
 
ALL THAT SASS – Slow to begin. Raced four-wide without cover throughout.
 
CASA TRANQUILA – Raced four-wide without cover throughout.
 
DEFIANT DIVA – Slow to begin.
 
LADY OF LUXURY – Cast her off hind plate in running.
 
NEWSREADER – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 2: MAGIC MILLIONS OPEN HANDICAP 1800 METRES
 
SKATE TO PARIS – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
PROFIT – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider M. McGillivray stated that the gelding travelled well through the middle stages but the mare failed to quicken when placed under pressure and believes the mare has come to the end of its current preparation.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion on the near hind cannon. Trainer C. Anderson advised Stewards that the gelding would be spelled.
 
ITZ LILY – Slow to begin. Near the 500 metre mark and approaching the home turn, was held up and was unable to improve when awkwardly placed at the heels of PLUMARO. When asked to comment on the mare’s performance, rider A. Mallyon stated that the mare was very cantankerous in the barrier, was slow away and did not muster any speed, got into an awkward spot in running and disappointed when it did not want to finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
BADOOSH – Overraced in the early stages.
 
 
RACE 3: $1M FRIZELLE SUNSHINE MAGIC MILLIONS SUBZERO 2400 METRES
 
BALLISTIC BOY – Overraced in the early stages when being restrained. Raced three-wide throughout. When asked to comment on its performance, rider M. McGillivray stated that he attempted to get a position closer to the rail in the early stages, however the gelding proved difficult to settle and he found himself three-wide for the majority of the race. He further stated that after improving his position approaching the turn into the straight, the gelding failed to run on in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery.
 
BLACK ON GOLD – Rider B. Avdulla was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(5) for use of the whip being fifteen (15) occasions in totality, that being one (1) more than permitted.
 
A MAN TO MATCH – Was inconvenienced near the 300 metre mark when PARRY SOUND shifted out to obtain clear running.
 
SKIDDAW – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to display signs of thumps.
 
PARRY SOUND – Slow to begin.
 
DECROUX – Approaching the 400 metre mark, shifted out to improve and made contact with SO YOU’RE MAGIC.
 
COMMANDER BELL – Cast an off fore plate when travelling to the course. Was attended to by the farrier upon arrival on course and was cleared to race. Raced three-wide in the early stages.
 
SO YOU'RE MAGIC – Trainer J. Wilson advised it was the intention to settle the gelding more forward. The gelding was ridden accordingly and settled in a more forward position.

 
RACE 4: $1M IT'S LIVE! IN QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS SNIPPETS 1200 METRES
 
GRAFF – Was restrained at the start from an outside barrier to gain a position closer to the rail.
 
BELLA VELLA – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with the hindquarter of SANSOM. Rider T. Pannell was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100m, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
HIGHTAIL – Shifted outwards near the 100 metre mark, making contact with KING OF HASTINGS.
 
JONKER – Laid out under pressure over the final 200 metres.
 
EXHILARATES – Raced four-wide with cover throughout.
 
USMANOV – Approaching the 800 metre mark, was checked when crowded and tightened to the inside of SANSOM and MISHANI MISS. Rider B. Thompson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding with the specifics of the charge being that approaching the 800 metre mark he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, crowding USMANOV and SANSOM, resulting in USMANOV having to be checked. Rider B. Thompson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence at midnight on 21 January 2021 and to expire at midnight on 29 January 2021. Approaching the 700 metre mark was eased and hung outwards, becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of SANSOM.
 
MORRISSY – Rider C. Williams reported the horse to be making a respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L. Corstens advised he would have the horse scoped.
 
KING OF HASTINGS – Raced four-wide without cover throughout. Bumped near the 100 metre mark by HIGHTAIL.
 
LAGERFELD – Shortly after the start was taken out by HIGHTAIL. Tightened for room between KING OF HASTINGS and HIGHTAIL, which shifted out away from HARD EMPIRE.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on its near hind with an abrasion on its inside cannon and a laceration on the outside of the fetlock.
 
 
RACE 5: $1M TAB MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES & MARES (3YO&UP) 1300 METRES
 
OUTBACK BARBIE – Rider M. Rodd was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the finish.
 
WILD VIXEN – Near the 1100 metre mark, had to be checked outwards across the heels of SNOW VALLEY, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Rider B. El-Issa pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding with the specifics of the charge being that near the 1100 metre mark he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear, resulting in WILD VIXEN having to be checked. Rider B. El-Issa’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of seven (7) days to commence at midnight on 23 January 2021 and to expire at midnight on 30 January 2021. Near the 200 metre mark bumped with NIEDORP. Near the 100 metre mark had to be eased off the heels of ATHIRI, which shifted in. Rider N. Rawiller was reprimanded for shifting in when insufficiently clear and was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.
 
KRONE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be displaying signs of thumps.
 
NIEDORP – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. Near the 200 metre mark, bumped with WILD VIXEN.
 
PERSUADER – Lost ground near the 1000 metre mark after being bumped and was carried outwards. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
SNAPDANCER – Carried in slightly near the 1100 metre mark by STOLEN JADE then commenced to race keenly and becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of that mare and, upon having to be taken outwards, made contact with PERSUADER.
 
STOLEN JADE – Near the 700 metre mark, had to be checked to avoid the heels of DUNBRODY POWER when SNAPDANCER shifted wider on the track.
 
DUNBRODY POWER – Raced four-wide without cover throughout.
 
MADDI ROCKS – Steadied when racing tight to the inside of SNAPDANCER, which was carried in slightly by STOLEN JADE.
 
VERANES – Slow to begin.
 
SNOW VALLEY – Eased over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed on the heels of KRONE.
 
 
RACE 6: $2M THE STAR GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC 1200 METRES
 
ALPINE EDGE – Slow to begin.
 
FINANCE TYCOON – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
 
GHOSTWRITER – Near the 700 metre mark, had to be restrained from the heels of QUEEN OF WIZARDY, which shifted out.  

BABY WONG – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
MISHANI SCANDAL – After travelling a short distance, had to be restrained when tightened for room by SHE’S ALL CLASS.
 
RAMBEAU – Near the 1100 metre mark, shifted out despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in SWIFT WITNESS being taken out and GHOSTWRITER having to be checked. Continued to shift out near the 900 metre mark, resulting in SWIFT WITNESS having to be checked. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration on the colt’s near fore cannon.
 
SHE'S ALL CLASS – Contacted the gate on the way to the track. Upon arrival at the barrier, the filly underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
SWIFT WITNESS – Had to be checked when taken out by RAMBEAU. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to display minor heat stress. The filly was treated and recovered uneventfully. 
 
YOU'LL BE MIST – When taken out by SWIFT WITNESS, had to be checked off the heels of MISS HIPSTAR. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Approaching the home turn was inclined to hang out.
 
MISS HIPSTAR – Raced four-wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 7: $2M GOLD COAST MAGIC MILLIONS 3YO GUINEAS 1400 METRES
 
AWAY GAME – After passing the 400 metre mark, was galloped on by ISOTOPE. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have sustained abrasions to her off side hock and cannon.  
 
YES BABY YES – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages.
 
AMISH BOY – Slow to begin.
 
SHOOTING FOR GOLD – Co-trainer S. O’Dea Wilson advised it was the intention to settle the gelding more forward. The gelding was ridden accordingly and settled in a more forward position. Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages.
 
AIM – Rider J. McDonald was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100m, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
SAFEWORK – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
MISHANI FRAUDSTER – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
ISOTOPE – After passing the 400 metre mark, hung out and clipped the heels of AWAY GAME, dislodging rider R. Maloney. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have a laceration to the off side mouth.
 
REDOUTE'S IMAGE – Raced three-wide with cover in the early stages.
 
STAROSA – Inconvenienced near the 350 metre mark when rider R. Maloney was dislodged from ISOTOPE.
 
 
RACE 8: $1M PACIFIC FAIR MAGIC MILLIONS CUP 1400 METRES
 
REDOUBLE – The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
 
OUTRAGEOUS – Shifted out approaching the 400 metre mark and carried BALLER wider on the track.
 
SCALLOPINI – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
SAMBRO – Reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.
 
THE ASTROLOGIST – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
 
RACE 9: $1M RACING QUEENSLAND MAGIC MILLIONS QTIS OPEN HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
CHAPTER AND VERSE – Near the 1000 metre mark, checked when crowded to the inside of MISHANI BULLETT, which had shifted in and away from MACEWEN, which rolled in slightly whilst being steadied off the heels of COLPO DI TAMBURO. 
 
MACEWEN – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
BOOMTOWN LASS – Had to be taken in near the 200 metre mark when endeavouring to obtain clear running.
 
TOKORIKI LAD – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
YAMAZAKI – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
IN HIS STRIDE – Slow to begin.
 
BOOMNOVA – Rider B. El-Issa was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) in that he used his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100 metre mark.
