FlemingStarter – S. Andrews RACE 1: VALE LARRY ALLEN MAIDEN HANDICAP 2400 METRES LILIVALE LIBERTY – Hampered at the start by NOBLE ARTIST, which shifted out. PASSAGGIO – Rider C Caserta reported that the gelding failed to travel throughout and as a result he did not place his mount under pressure in the home straight. NOBLE ARTIST – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Approaching the 1400 metres was permitted to stride to take up a position outside the lead passing the 1300 metres. TRUTHIZ – Inconvenienced at the start by NOBLE ARTIST, which shifted out. HOLLYWOOD AL – Inconvenienced at the start by TRUTHIZ, which was carried out by NOBLE ARTIST. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Near the 1600 metres permitted to stride and take up the lead. Passing the 400 metres raced in restricted room when awkwardly placed inside NOBLE ARTIST which shifted in marginally. Apprentice J Lloyd was advised to exercise care when shifting ground. The saddle slipped back during the event. RACE 2: LOCALSEARCH QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 900 METRES BLUE PACIFIC – Raced wide without cover. Laid in over the concluding stages. CAMPAI – Slow to begin. Laid out from the 700 metres. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TENACITY JANE – Began awkwardly and knuckled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the filly’s off hind leg. Trainer J Zielke was advised the filly would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. RACE 3: KOLLOSCHE REALTY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1800 METRES BOLD EXECUTIVE – Led due to there being a lack of speed in the event. DIAMOND BEANS – Laid in over the concluding stages. HAPPISBURGH – Near the 1600 metres when being steadied began to overrace. Made the turn near the 1400 metres awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Overraced in the early and middle stages near the 1100 metres. When the pace steadied was checked by its rider before being permitted to stride forward to a three-wide position without cover. MARMION – Overraced in the early and middle stages. MOONIGHT ECLIPSE – Hampered near the 1400 metres by HAPPISBURGH, which shifted out. Passing the 1200 metres improved three-wide to establish a position outside the leader near the 1000 metres. MS THORPEDO – Inconvenienced and carried wider near the 1400 metres by HAPPISBURGH, which shifted out. ROMAN QUEEN – Near the 900 metres was steadied when awkwardly placed to the inside of DIAMOND BEANS, which laid in. RACE 4: R. M PEACOCK CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1800 METRES SOKUDO – Slow to begin. Performed below market expectation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer L Kelly advised Stewards that after today’s performance the entire would now be spelled. GO DARCY – Laid in over the home straight. PIEROPAN – Raced wide without cover. Near the 50 metres steadied away from the heels of QUALIFY. When the pace steadied near the 1600 metres shifted out to avoid heels and then raced wide without cover from this point. TOFFIE LADY – After making the crossing near the 1600 metres began to overrace and was steadied to avoid the heels of MISHANI DESTROYER. Rider M McGillivray reported that the mare did not feel comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. QUALIFY – The mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was passed suitable to start. RACE 5: GOLD COAST HELITOURS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1100 METRES The start of this race was delayed when HIDDEN EYES pulled a near hind plate at the start. After the gelding was unable to be re-plated, permission was granted for HIDDEN EYES to race without a near hind plate. ROYAL PHEONIX – The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of its rider and was passed suitable to start. Raced wide without cover. ACUMEN – Performed below market expectation, beaten $1.70 favourite. Rider R Plumb stated that the gelding, which was first up for a new trainer and from a spell, would derive benefit from today’s run. A swab sample has been taken for analysis. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to display a significant respiratory noise. DALTORO – Lost its near hind plate during the event. Near the 500 metres when overracing improved onto the heels of GANESH TALAI. Laid in in the home straight. Rider S Galloway was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being two (2) more than permitted. UNIMPEDED – Near the 500 metres inconvenienced and shifted out to avoid the heels of DALTORO. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. RACE 6: FOXSAT GPS TELEMATICS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES Travis Wolfgram, the rider of the 2nd placegetter HARLEQUIN FIELD, lodged an objection against 1st placegetter DEFIANT DIVA for alleged interference from the 600 metres. It was established that after leaving the 600 metres HARLEQUIN FIELD and DEFIANT DIVA brushed on several occasions and in the home straight both horses shifted out on their own accord. Stewards could not be satisfied that either incident materially affected the result and dismissed the protest and correct weight was declared. ASCOT EXPRESS – Inconvenienced at the start between MY MATE VINNY and SMART STAR PRINCE, which was carried in. Raced greenly throughout. ZABCAN – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped SMART STAR PRINCE. Shortly after the start the saddle slipped back and as a result the gelding bucked for some distance and lost considerable ground. FOCUS – Inconvenienced shortly after the start between MY MATE VINNY and REACHFORTHESTARS. SMART STAR PRINCE – Inconvenienced at the start by ZABCAN, which shifted in. Laid out approaching the 400 metres before shifting over the heels of ASCOT EXPRESS and as a result made heavy contact with CRAZY EYED FRED. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that approaching the 400 metres he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of CRAZY EYED FRED, resulting in his mount being checked and carried out onto ENDERLE, which as a result was checked and carried out onto BEEF’N’BLACK BEAN, which as a result was severely checked and carried out. In determining penalty, Stewards gave consideration to apprentice Wilson-Taylor’s guilty plea and respectable disciplinary history. Apprentice Wilson-Taylor’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days to commence at midnight on 30 January 2021 and to expire on 11 February 2021. ENDERLE – Difficult to load and delayed the start. Checked and carried wider near the 400 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the mare’s near hind coronet. Trainer L Wheeler was advised a warning will now be placed on the mare’s barrier manners. PISTOL PACKIN LENA –Slow to begin and failed to muster early speed. Hung out throughout the event. Trainer J Dunn was advised a warning will now be placed on the mare’s racing manners. ZEESTAR – Slow to begin. Raced wide with cover. Rider M McGillivray reported that the mare felt awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be very short striding in front and lame in the off fore leg. Trainer D Bougoure was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. DEFIANT DIVA – Held up in the early part of the home straight before obtaining a neat run near the 300 metres. Laid out under pressure over the final 200 metres. HARLEQUIN FIELD – Raced wide without cover. CRAZY EYED FRED – Checked and carried wider by SMART STAR PRINCE, which shifted out. BEEF'N'BLACK BEAN – Raced wide without cover. Near the 400 metres severely checked when ENDERLE shifted out. RACE 7: TURNERS ENGINEERING BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400 METRES GROUP THINK – Hampered at the start between SAY I CEE YOU and EXTREME JEWEL. SAY I CEE YOU – Overraced in the early stages. Apprentice J Lloyd was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being two (2) more than permitted. NORDIC SHOW – Slow to begin. ROUND MOUNTAIN GEM – Eased down the home straight. Rider C Taylor reported the mare had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the mare’s off core cannon. Trainer P Kimmet reported the mare would now be retired. RACE 8: KINGSFORESTLIVING.COM.AU CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 METRES CUNNAMULLA – Steadied near the 1100 metres when awkwardly placed close to the heels of EXPENSIVE TO KEEP. Overraced in the early and middle stages. HEARTS DENIED – Lots its near fore plate during the event. PICTON – Raced wide without cover. RARI – Raced keenly through the middle stages. AMY EKCELS – Slow to begin. EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the filly’s off hind pastern. DRAGON PURSUIT – Slow to begin.
