RACE 1: VALE NEVILLE LAYT QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRES
 
HOSTWIN TORONDAO – Raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 400 metres carried wider when AIR FORCE ACE shifted out to improve. Near the 300 metres, when racing greenly shifted in, bumping FLAMIN’ READY. Improved onto heels approaching the line and was unable to be fully tested.
 
START STRUTTING – Slow to begin. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
BINNALONG BELLE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Leaving the 400 metres carried wider when AIR FORCE ACE shifted out to improve.
 
FLAMIN’ READY – Trainer M Reynolds was fined $100.00 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider for FLAMIN’ READY by the prescribed time.Slow to begin. Bumped near the 300 metres.
 
GRACIEDE – Jumped awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight and near the 200 metres steadied from START STRUTTING, which shifted out. Cast its near hind plate in running.
MISHANI DANCER – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be suffering mild heat stress.
 
AIR FORCE ACE – Slow to begin. Raced very greenly approaching the 400 metres, improved onto heels and shifted out.
 
 
RACE 2: GARY BUTLAND QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRES
 
C Whiteley, rider of MISS PIPER, upon returning to scale and viewing the film, lodged an objection 4th placegetter v 2nd placegetter, that being against the dual dead-heater SUPER FAMOUS ridden by T Brooker, for alleged interference near the 500 metres. After considering the objection and whilst noting that near the 500 metres rider C Whiteley did have to steady MISS PIPER from the heels of RAW GOLD when racing ungenerously, Stewards could not attribute the interference suffered by him to SUPER FAMOUS and therefore dismissed the objection.

Following the dismissal of the protest lodged in respect of 4th placegetter v 2nd placegetter,Steward K Daly then lodged an objection on behalf of Vishan Venkaya (rider of RAW GOLD)  equal 2nd placegetter v equal 2nd placegetter SUPER FAMOUS ridden by T Brooker,regarding an incident near the 500 metres. After considering the objection and particularly that the interference suffered by RAW GOLD exceeded the nil margin between the dead-heaters, the Stewards upheld the objection and the placings were amended accordingly. Stewards then declared correct weight on the new placings of:
 
1st – LABORIOUS
2nd – RAW GOLD
3rd – SUPER FAMOUS
4th – MISS PIPER
 
RAW GOLD – Slow to begin. Rider V Venkaya was fined $300.00 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
STAR PATROL – Trainer K Fogden was advised that a warning will be placed on the gelding for its pre-race manners.Raced four-wide throughout. Made the home turn very wide despite the efforts of its rider. Trainer K Fogden reported that she was disappointed in the way the gelding finished off today’s event and was further disappointed with the gelding’s post-race recovery. Trainer K Fogden advised that upon returning to her stables, the gelding was found to be lame in the off fore fetlock. Trainer K Fogden was advised that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding’s next race start.  
 
SUPER FAMOUS – When being restrained near the 500 metres overraced and shifted in when racing greenly, causing RAW GOLD to be inconvenienced and lose ground.
 
MISS PIPER – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously from the 800 metres to the 500 metres where it was momentarily steadied after improving onto the heels of RAW GOLD and shifted wider. Rider C Whiteley reported that he lost his whip at the 300 metres.
 
SWANIC BOOM – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
CHURCHILL MISS – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in its off fore with suspensory ligament damage. Trainer L Ross was advised that a veterinary certificate will be required prior to the filly’s next race start. Trainer L Ross advised that it was his intention to retire the filly.  
 
 
RACE 3: HAPPY 50THBIRTHDAY GAVIN HUMPHREYS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000 METRES
 
A DEVIL’S CHANCE – Began awkwardly.
 
DEEP HEART – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Near the 600 metres when racing ungenerously improved onto the heels of DAWN COLOURS and had to be steadied. Near the 300 metres again improved onto heels and shifted wider to obtain clear running.  
 
EXEMPT – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
HANGRY – Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.
 
DAWN COLOURS – Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
HEATON PARK – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
RACE 4: DON ALROE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
DUNE FORTY FIVE – Bumped on the hindquarters near the 1200 metres.
 
LARNE COURT – Slow to begin. Steadied when momentarily on heels rounding the home turn.
 
ASHER – Forced wider near the home turn when DUNE FORTY FIVE shifted out to improve.
 
ZOUDICA – Rider A Allen replaced rider B Pengelly as he was unable to make the allocated weight. Rider B Pengelly was reprimanded pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight.Trainer C Waller advised it was the intention to ride the gelding in a more forward position if circumstances permitted. Caught wide and raced near the tail of the field. Near the 1200 metres steadied when awkwardly placed between runners. Overraced and improved three-wide passing the 800 metres.
 
AVESUM PIXIE DUST – Raced keenly in the early stages and was tightened for racing room passing the 1200 metres.
 
 
RACE 5: ALAN & IAN HOLLINDALE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
CONQUERING DREAMS – Rider C Whiteley, when asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, reported that the gelding raced greenly and would take benefit from today’s run.
 
GOLDEN OUTBACK – Performed poorly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have slow post-race recovery. Trainer G Taylor advised that he may experiment with a tongue-tie in the future.
 
BRETON – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  
 
POETRY IN MOTION – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ATOMIC BOMB – Rider M McGillivray was reminded of his obligations to fully test his mount to the finish line.
 
DAME MARGOT – Tightened between runners on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
RACE 6: PETER ‘PEDRO’ GALLAGHER COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
CHECKERS – Held up approaching the home turn. Rider T Brooker was fined $300.00 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
A BIG CHANCE – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
LITTLE NATURAL – Slow to begin.
 
LIVE MUSIC – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 7: KEITH MCLEAN FILLIES AND MARES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
A RIVER SOMEWHERE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid in significantly near the 200 metres before shifting out abruptly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed minor lacerations to the mare’s off hind consistent with being galloped on and was also found to be exhibiting signs of the thumps. A post-race swab sample was taken for analysis.
 
MILLION – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
CALMYOURFARM – Slow to begin.

STATEMENT OF FAITH – Slow to begin. Had difficulty securing a clear run passing the 200 metres.
 
 
RACE 8: HARRY GORDON CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1400 METRES
 
KEDAH – Rider T Wolfgram was fined $300.00 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted.
 
RED DOULTON – Trainer N McCall was fined $100.00 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider for RED DOULTON by the prescribed time. Refused to jump and took no part in the event. Trainer N McCall was advised that the mare would be required to obtain a barrier certificate through an official trial prior to racing again.
 
SPLIT NOT A SHOCK – Momentarily steadied from the heels of CANAPES on jumping.
 
PURE DEAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
 
RACE 9: TOM STANLEY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1800 METRES
 
ELIZANO – Tightened for room shortly after the start.
 
PRINCESS SPARKLES – Bumped on the hindquarters shortly after the start was effected and became unbalanced. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Following the running of this event, rider M McGillivray was found to be suffering cramps and was replaced on his last ride.
 
WILDWOOD JADE – Slow to begin.
 
POWERS LOOKOUT – After being caught wide, permitted to stride and raced in a forward position.
 
LA ROCA – Rider J Grisedale replaced rider A Chau as he was unable to make the allocated weight. Rider A Chau was fined $100.00 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight.Tightened for room shortly after the start. Apprentice M Kennedy, rider of POWERS LOOKOUT, was advised to exercise greater care regarding this incident.
 
SWING SHIFT – Slow to begin.
 
PRINCELY SUM – Slow to muster despite the efforts of its rider.
 
TIME STAMP – Slow to begin.
 
 
RACE 10: MAX CHRISTMAS CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
GOLDIFOX – Began awkwardly and bumped by HONORABLE SPIRIT, which shifted in.
 
HONORABLE SPIRIT – Began awkwardly and bumped by GOLDIFOX, which shifted in. Rider B Pengelly reported that on jumping and making heavy contact with GOLDIFOX to his inside, the bridle on HONORABLE SPIRIT shifted, placing him at a disadvantage.
 
CONCEALED DYNAMITE – Slow to begin.
 
HANNA FROM HAVANA – Rider R Palmer replaced rider A Chau as he was unable to make the allocated weight. Rider A Chau was fined $100.00 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight.
 
 
HEATHROW – Rider S Galloway replaced rider J Woodhouse as he was unable to make the allocated weight. Rider J Woodhouse was fined $200.00 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride for which he was overweight.
