Raced keenly in the early and middles stages. Raced wide without cover throughout. SPIRITOMO – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was reprimanded pursuant to AR128(1) for failing to be present in the jockey’s room within the prescribed time. Slow in to stride and bumped shortly after the start. NOBLE WAR – Slow to begin. Beaten $1.70 favourite. Stewards queried the tactics adopted on the filly. Apprentice J Lloyd reported that his instructions were to lead if possible (which instructions were confirmed with trainer L Kelly), however after being buffeted between runners on jumping, settled further back than anticipated and stated that approaching the home turn was held up and was unable to obtain clear running. He added that he was unable to obtain a clear run in the home straight when he was awkwardly placed to the inside of the heels of DAINTREE DIVA. He further added that when he placed the filly under further pressure passing the 150 metres she responded fairly and finished the race off well. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A post-race swab sample was taken for analysis. RACE 2: AMELIA AND CHARLOTTE’S 21ST BIRTHDAY MAIDEN PLATE 1800 METRES BARTA LINES – Commenced to tire near the 500 metre point and proved uncompetitive. Trainer G Blake was advised that the gelding’s nominations for TAB meetings would be refused until such time as the gelding’s form improves to the required standard. CAPTAIN RIDDLE – Momentarily held up passing the 500 metres. JET PILOT – Laid out in the home straight. TAVI PIN – Made the 1400 metre turn awkwardly and shifted out. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider R Bishop was reminder of his obligations to ensure that he keeps his mount on a true line. Rider R Bishop was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted. BRETON – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in near the 200 metres. BIG HITTER – Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was inconvenienced by BRETON, which shifted in. RACE 3: HAPPYBIRTHDAY WILLIAM COOREY CLASSIC 2 HANDICAP 2200 METRES BATTLE GUARDIAN – Slow in to stride. MONEY SHOT – Began awkwardly and shifted out, bumping GRAPHITE EXPRESS and became unbalanced. When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider B Nothdurft reported that the gelding did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. TOUCAN SAM – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider G Cartwright reported that overall it was a disappointing performance and felt that the gelding may be best served being ridden with cover in the future. DEAR SIBLING – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider C Taylor reported that after settling in a satisfactory position was disappointed in the gelding’s run to the finish. GRAPHITE EXPRESS – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. Performed poorly. Eased up over the concluding stages. Rider K Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery. The stable representative for trainer G Heinrich was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. WINDUPGIRL – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. CHIEF COMMAND – Began very awkwardly and shifted in, bumping GRAPHITE EXPRESS and became unbalanced. RACE 4: DON ALROE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES CONISMO – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide throughout. LONDON BELL – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. MUSCHIALLI – Near the 200 metres, steadied from the heels of MINTO’S PARADISE. CANNY IMPACT – Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced three-wide throughout. DERANI – Near the 200 metres, bumped PERFECT ENCOUNTER. PERFECT ENCOUNTER – Near the 200 metres, bumped DERANI. FLAMIN’ READY – Slow to begin. When asked to comment on the filly’s performance, rider S Bogenhuber reported that the filly did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. MISHANI BANDIT – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance, rider T Wolfgram reported that the gelding did not handle today’s heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in its near fore. Trainer L Ross was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding racing again. DELTA MISS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed the filly to be lame in its off fore and was subsequently declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 1:35pm by order of the Stewards. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all bets on DELTA MISS be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply: 1 cent the win (MINTO’S PARADISE)1 cent the place (MINTO’S PARADISE)1 cent the place (CONISMO)1 cent the place (PERFECT ENCOUNTER)Trainer D Trindall was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly racing again. RACE 5: BERALA PRES PUNTERS CLUB MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 METRES GAUNTLET – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Brushed with YOU CHOOSE near the 250 metres, which shifted in. I’M HITCHIN’ BRO – Began awkwardly. TRIANGULUM – Raced wide without cover throughout. YOU CHOOSE – Began awkwardly and shifted in, bumping PHILLY SPECIAL. Laid in near the 250 metres. PHILLY SPECIAL – Buffeted between runners on jumping and lost ground. Raced three-wide with cover throughout. MASARED – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. RACE 6: STORAGE KING TWEED HEADS CLASS 5 PLATE 1200 METRES DESTINY’S OWN – Bumped with BANJO’S VOICE on jumping. BANJO’S VOICE – Bumped with DESTINY’S OWN on jumping. RHYME TIME – Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the mare’s disappointing performance. Apprentice K Wilson-Taylor was fined $500.00 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted. PHIONAIX – Performed below market expectation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. RACE 7: THE WIGGLE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1800 METRES HONORABLE SPIRIT – The gelding underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being kicked in the near side hindquarters behind the barriers and was cleared to start. THE HOUSEMAN – Commenced to weaken from the 600 metres before being eased up in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer P Kimmet was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer P Kimmet was further advised to report any EDINBURGH – Near the 600 metres, improved onto the heels of THE HOUSEMAN, which was tiring, and had to check. Shifted out under hard riding near the 200 metres, bumping MONAAFASAH. Rider S Galloway was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven (7) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being two (2) more than permitted. MONAAFASAH – Slow to begin. Bumped near the 200 metres and had to be steadied. HANNA FROM HAVANA – Upon the request of rider A Allen, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. HEATHROW – Approaching the home turn, improved onto the heels of THE HOUSEMAN, which was tiring, and was inconvenienced. ZAVY’S HOPE – Rider M Hellyer reported that the mare felt awkward in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow post-race recovery. ALLARES – Approaching the 200 metres, improved onto the heels of PALASZCZUK and was obliged to ease. PYTHIA – Slow to begin. RACE 8: SKYLINE RESTAURANT BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1100 METRES KID GALAHAD – Raced wide throughout. Near the 150 metres, steadied from the heels of EXCEL IN THE SUN, which shifted in. Rider B Nothdurft was reminded of his obligations to exercise greater care regarding this incident. LIZA WITH A ZEE – Near the 650 metres, was obliged to steady when crossed by NEXT DIMENSION.
