GENERAL
As L Abbott was not riding due to personal reasons, stewards replaced her as per the race day summary.
 
Apprentice S Tomlinson provided a medical clearance after being stood down at the Ipswich Turf Club meeting on Friday 23/7/21.
 
Race 1: Skyline Restaurant Maiden Handicap 900 metres
 
The start was delayed when NOTEABLY had to be resaddled.
 
GREEN KUDOS – Raced greenly throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
INTERCAPITALEXPRES – Near the 700m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of NOTEABLY (C Caserta) which shifted in when not quite clear. C Caserta was advised to exercise more care.
 
BUSTED KUSTED – Slow to begin. Near the 700m laid out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Raced greenly and hung out throughout.
 
NOTEABLY – Resaddled at the start.
 
ROWLING – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Approaching the 600m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed inside heels.
 
Race 2: Gallery Seafood Restaurant Class 2 Handicap 900 metres
 
LUCKY GO FIRST – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
POTENT VIEW – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
METRO TRAMP – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
SCARE CAMPAIGN – Slow into stride.
 
Race 3: Bryant & Bryant Chartered Accountants BM65 Handicap 1100 metres
 
LOGAN'S BLADE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
MICK THE HAT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils for first time. Trainer M Palmer was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
ZUMIKON – Began awkwardly and shifted in brushing KOKOPO KITTY.
 
KOKOPO KITTY – Bounded on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
Race 4: Graeme Marriott 70th Celebration QTIS Two-Years-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
REAWAKEN – After jumping from a wide barrier was unable to find cover and raced four wide rounding the first turn, before pressing forward to obtain a three wide without cover position near the 700m. Approaching the 300m raced in restricted room and was bumped heavily by JETFOIL becoming unbalanced. Rider N Callow reported that after being caught wide and being unable to obtain cover the gelding failed to respond in the home straight. He added that in his opinion the tough run endured by the gelding had an effect on the geldings finishing effort.
 
JETFOIL – Bumped on jumping. Overraced in the middle stages. Approaching the 200m when altering course to the inside put in awkward stride. Laid out over the concluding stages resulting in its rider having to stop and straighten.
 
TOKYO FRIENDS – Bumped with SHE’S A UNICORN on jumping.
 
INCLUSION – Near the 850m was bumped and made contact with the running rail.
 
KAYTEE BRILLANTE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
SHE'S A UNICORN – Bumped with TOKYO FRIENDS on jumping.
 
WINTER VIOLET – Began awkwardly. Near the 800m raced in restricted room and bumped with BUDDHA. 
 
WATACHOICE – Difficult to load. Trainer H Page was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the filly. Began awkwardly and shifted out bumping JETSOIL.
 
BUDDHA – Raced three wide without cover in the early stages before obtaining cover in that position near the 700m. Near the 800m raced in restricted room and bumped with WINTER VIOLET.
 
Race 5: Shady Lane 80th Birthday Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
ALLORA ENZO (NZ) – Bumped on jumping.
 
CHIANTARI – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
BULLA BULLA – Began awkwardly. 
 
CALATHIEL – Resaddled at the start.
 
DUBAI CLASSIC - Bumped on jumping.
 
JIMMY NEUTRON – Stood flat footed and missed the start by a considerable margin. Trainer J Dunn was advised that a gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. 
 
LATIN PROPHET (NZ) – Began awkwardly resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Passing the 500m commenced to weaken and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Birchley was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again.
 
NINETYNINE STEPS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: UAA BURLEIGH BEARS Mark Mayton Memorial Handicap 1200 metres
 
ALL TOO HUIYING - Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition. Shortly after bumped with SHIJIN.
 
PAPA JO – Performed below market expectations. Jockey T Wolfgram advised that after jumping well and obtaining a favourable position outside the leader the gelding travelled well but when placed under pressure laid out and failed to respond over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Hatch reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have backed up after a tough run last start. He advised that the he will get his stable veterinarian to inspect the gelding and report any findings in the days subsequent.
 
BOLD WARRIOR – Contacted on the hindquarters shortly after the start.
 
SHIJIN – Began awkwardly and contacted the barrier partition. Shortly after bumped with ALL TOO HUIYING. Passing the 600m became awkwardly placed on the heels of BRING IT HOME POP (N Callow) which shifted in slightly. N Callow was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
 
 
Race 7: Get your new season membership QTIS Three-Years-Old Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
DRY TIMES – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
MENINDEE – Approaching the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SHOTGUN SOCKS, which laid out. Approaching the 200m was crowded for room by EXPRESSO LOVE, which laid in and away from DRY TIMES.
 
OREGON – Fractious in the barriers. Trainer G Heinrich was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding. Began awkwardly.
 
SHOTGUN SOCKS – Trainer M Currie was fined $100 for the late declaration of apprentice S Tomlinson as the rider of the gelding. Laid out rounding the home turn. Approaching the 150m was buffeted between runners.
 
EXPRESSO LOVE – Trainer D Bougoure was fined $100 for the late declaration of B Ainsworth as the rider of the filly. Near the 950m had to be checked. Apprentice S Tomlinson pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 950m he failed make sufficient effort to prevent SHOTGUN SOCKS from shifting in resulting in EXPRESSO LOVE having to be checked and lose its rightful running. Apprentice Tomlinson’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight days to commence at midnight 27th of July, 2021 and to expire at midnight the 4th of August, 2021. In assessing penalty, stewards were mindful of apprentice Tomlinson’s guilty plea, careless riding record and that the carelessness was deemed to be in the low range. Raced three wide without cover throughout. Approaching the 200m was crowded for room and then laid in away from DRY TIMES and made heavy contact with MENINDEE.

SILVER BO – Bumped on jumping. Passing the 200m improved onto heels and had to be steadied and shifted back to the inside to secure clear running.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident near the 200m where MENINDEE was crowded for room, EXPRESSO LOVE was crowded for room and SHOTGUN SOCKS was buffeted between runners. After hearing evidence from the riders involved and viewing the footage of the incident, it was determined that near the 200m, DRY TIMES laid in under riding before being corrected by its rider and EXPRESSO LOVE, which was racing to its immediate inside was taken in marginally. Whilst being taken in, EXPRESSO LOVE commenced to lay in despite the efforts of its rider resulting in MENINDEE being crowded for room and SHOTGUN SOCKS, which was weakening being buffeted between runners. Stewards were satisfied that these incidents were not a result of carelessness of any rider and as such took no action.
 
Race 8: The perch coming soon Class 2 Handicap 1800 metres
 
TIDES OF JUPITER – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
ADELAIDE'S DIAMOND – Raced wide throughout.
 
RUBY'S LAD – Bumped on jumping.
 
TORMINO (NZ) – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and missed the start by a considerable margin. Trainer L Abbott was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record. Shifted four wide passing the 700m to improve. Made the home turn extremely wide. Near the 350m was inconvenienced when TIDES OF JUPITER shifted out to improve.
 
TO DEM WITH LOVE – Raced three wide with cover throughout.
 
STELLAR – From the wide barrier was shifted in behind runners.
 
ASTRAL KNIGHT – Bumped on jumping and was slow to begin. Laid in over the concluding stages.
 
SKILLED ARTIST – Raced four wide with cover early before striding forward passing the 900m to obtain a position three wide outside the lead.

RIVER OF LOVE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the rider and was cleared to start.
 
TAAFFEITE (NZ) – Raced wide in the early stages. Passing the 200m was bumped by ADELAIDE’S DIAMOND, which laid in.
 
Spurious - Declared a late scratching at 12:57pm due to transport difficulties.
