NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Commenced to hang out from the 600 metres and made the home turn wide. RACE 2: INTERFACE LANDSCAPES CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1800 METRES HONORABLE SPIRIT – Slow to begin. ROUND OF APPLAUSE – Stewards sought an explanation from rider B Ainsworth regarding the manner in which ROUND OF APPLAUSE was ridden in the early stages today, which appeared to be in contrast to the gelding’s most recent racing pattern. Rider Ainsworth reported that it appeared as if there was considerable speed drawn to her inside and for this reason she was instructed to ride the gelding with cover today. Trainer R Litton reported that the gelding weakened badly when leading at its most recent start and as it appeared that there was speed from other runners in the small field today, he confirmed the instructions were to ride the gelding with cover. Trainer R Litton was reprimanded pursuant to AR100(1)(a) in respect of this incident and Stewards advised him to communicate any varying tactics to the Stewards so that announcements can then be made to that effect. RACE 3: RITCHIE BROS AUCTIONEERS QTIS 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES REAWAKEN – Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages. ACTION JACKSON – Overraced in the early stages. Raced wide without cover throughout the event. LAZ BOY – Shifted in near the 500 metres and made contact with the running rail. ROMAN HUSSLER – Raced greenly in the early stages. Near the 800 metres, raced ungenerously, threw its head in the air and lost ground. EARLY THOUGHTS – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide throughout the event. THAT’S A MIRACLE – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. RACE 4: RAW METAL CORPORATION QTIS 3YO FILLIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100 METRES LEAGLESE – Raced wide without cover throughout the event. MERIMEE – Overraced in the early and middle stages. MY MISS MOONPIE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout the event. ROYAL REBELLION – Passing the 600 metres, raced in restricted room to the inside of MORETON BAY, which shifted in slightly. Rider G Cartwright was advised to provide greater care to her fellow riders when shifting ground in the future. TOP BIRD – Hung out rounding the turn near the 800 metres despite the efforts of its rider. Hung out under pressure in the home straight. Trainer S Batten undertook to apply gear to rectify this issue. LAYLA’S SONG – Raced wide with cover throughout the event. OSAKA SUNSET – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. RACE 5: LANTRAK RESOURCE MANAGEMENT OPEN HANDICAP 1400 METRES BRING IT HOME POP – Jumped awkwardly and shifted out, hampering AKAGE. Overraced in the early stages. BOLD WARRIOR – Performed below market expectation. Rider A Fancourt reported that, in her opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation Trainer G Doughty reported that the gelding would now be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. THE AVENGER – Slow to begin. AKAGE – Hampered by BRING IT HOME POP, which shifted out on jumping. Overraced in the early stages. RACE 6: DEMEX CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400 METRES VENDIDIT – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight until passing the 200 metres. ATLANTIC ROYAL – Shifted in on jumping. Hampered near the 300 metres when tightened for room between SUBAYAI and DAULAT MACHTIGAMOR, which shifted in. OREGON – The gelding was fractious in the barriers and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 3:24pm by order of Stewards. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards declared all bets on OREGON be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply: 18 cents the win (VENDIDIT)12 cents the place (VENDIDIT)10 cents the place (DAULAT MACHTIGAMOR)29 cents the place (SUBAYAI)Trainer G Heinrich was advised that the gelding would be required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Trainer G Heinrich reported that the gelding will now be spelled. SUBAYAI – Slow to begin. Inconvenienced near the 200 metres when VENDIDIT shifted out to improve. THINK I’M FLYING – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. MIYAK ODORI – The mare lost its near hind plate during the event. BEAT IT – Stewards permitted rider A Chau to ride 0.5 kilograms over his allocated weight due to the current covid restrictions. Jumped awkwardly and was bumped by ATLANTIC ROYAL, which shifted in. RACE 7: JOHNATHAN THURSTON ACADEMY & DEMEX CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200 METRES SIESTA KEY – Blundered at the start. BUFFALO GIRL – Stewards permitted rider G Walters to ride 0.5 kilograms over his allocated weight due to the current covid restrictions. The mare was fractious in the barriers prior to the commencement of the race. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer S Barker was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race behaviour. SAN PIERRE – Stewards permitted rider A Chau to ride 0.5 kilograms over his allocated weight due to the current covid restrictions. RACE 8: JOCKEY CELEBRATION DAY RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP 1800 METRES RUBY’S LAD – Stewards sought an explanation from rider T Wolfgram regarding the riding tactics he adopted in the early stages when settling outside the leader, being contrary to the gelding’s normal racing pattern. Rider T Wolfgram reported that he was instructed to ride with some vigor in the early stages with the intent to get the gelding to travel and when he was trapped extremely wide on the track approaching the 1600 metres rather than restrain and lose several lengths to settle in a rearward position he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward. Stewards accepted his explanation. BRONZED VENOM – Near the 250 metres, rider G Cartwright had her whip accidentally knocked from her grasp by the whip of rider T Wolfgram. STELLAR – Stewards permitted rider A Chau to ride 0.5 kilograms over his allocated weight due to the current covid restrictions.After leaving the 1600 metres, pulled hard and had to be restrained from the heels of SUN MOON SKY. SPIRIT OF EDYN – Stewards permitted rider G Walters to ride 0.5 kilograms over his allocated weight due to the current covid restrictions. PRINCELEY SUM – Rider C Bayliss reported that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action, particularly in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered a significant injury to the off fore tendon. Stewards advised trainer B Costello that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding racing again.
