TIDES OF JUPITER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

TWILIGHT PHENOMENA – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
HOME OF GOOLAGONG – Hung out rounding the home turn.
OCEANIA PRINCESS – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.
HEEYA – Hung out rounding the home turn.
RACE 3: SEA WORLD RESORT QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1400 METRES
BEANS MEANS – Began awkwardly.
CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced three-wide without cover for the majority of the event.
DUTTON BRANDED – Checked when awkwardly placed on heels over the concluding stages.
MISHANI GAMBLER – Raced in restricted room in the early stages of the home straight when attempting to secure clear running.
VIRGO VISION – Rider Callow reported that the gelding had a tendency to race greenly and overraced during the early and middle stages. He further reported that when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding failed to respond as expected and ran on only fairly.
LYNDALL – Slow to begin.
MERIMEE – After slipping over in the tie-up stalls, the filly was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to entering the enclosure and again upon arrival at the barriers and on both occasions was passed suitable to race. Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained for a considerable distance in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
RACE 4: WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200 METRES
DYNAMIC THINKER – When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance of DYNAMIC THINKER, trainer L Kelly advised that the gelding has had a history of hoof issues and, with the assistance of corrective shoeing over a continued period, these hoof issues had commenced to resolve themselves. Mr Kelly added that the gelding had worked well in preparation for today’s event and, with the rectification of the gelding’s hoof issues, was not surprised to see an improved performance in today’s event.
OURCONI – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Stewards questioned apprentice Z Lloyd in relation to the gelding’s below market expectation performance. Apprentice Lloyd reported that the gelding has a history of breathing issues and for that reason, in his opinion, the gelding overracing during the event was the major contributing factor to it failing to run on in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making an abnormal respiratory noise. Stewards advised trainer T Edmonds that he would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate, which includes the results of an endoscopic examination, prior to racing again. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
DORSET COAST – Subject to further submissions, trainer M Dunn was fined $200.00 pursuant to LR67(1) for failing to declare a rider for DORSET COAST by the prescribed time.
RACE 5: TOPGOLF MAIDEN HANDICAP 900 METRES
Start was delayed slightly when PRIVATE SECTOR proved difficult to load.
MACEDON FLYER – Laid out rounding the home turn. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages proving difficult to ride out. When questioned in relation to the gelding’s seemingly improved performance, trainer B Guy reported that on returning to scale at its previous run, rider M Du Plessis reported that the gelding had gotten its tongue back or over the bit during the event and, as a result, it performed disappointingly on that occasion. Mr Guy further reported that, as a result of this report, he elected to add a tongue-tie to the gelding’s gear for today’s event which, combined with a drop back to provincial grade, were the major contributing factors in the gelding’s performance today.
PRIVATE SECTOR – Began awkwardly losing ground.
ELA BEACH –Apprentice S Tomlinson was fined the sum of $400.00 pursuant to AR211(1) in that he weighed in in excess of 0.5kg over his allotted weight.
KISS OF THE DAY – After beginning only fairly, was then tightened for room at the start and subsequently lost ground.
BETTER THAN BAMS – Slow to begin.
MY MISS MOONPIE – Bumped heavily on jumping.
MISTER QUICKSTEP – Approaching the 600 metres, was steadied whilst racing keenly when placed in restricted room to the inside of PRIVATE SECTOR, which shifted in and away from THREE BELLS whilst racing keenly.
RACE 6: WET'N'WILD CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1400 METRES
On return to scale, J Huxtable, the rider of 2nd placegetter DASH FOR DREAMS, lodged an objection against 1st placegetter SIESTA KEY for alleged interference in the home straight. After taking evidence from the riders and their respective trainers and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that inside the final 75 metres, SIESTA KEY shifted out making heavy contact with DASH FOR DREAMS, forcing that runner wider on the track and further resulting in jockey Huxtable being inhibited from pressuring his mount to his full potential. Stewards were satisfied that DASH FOR DREAMS would have finished ahead of SIESTA KEY at the conclusion of the event had such interference not occurred, particularly when bearing in mind the long head margin between the runners at the conclusion of the event. As a result, the objection was upheld and correct weight was declared on the judges amended numbers 6, 8, 3, 5.
YOUNGBLOOD – Slow in to stride.
FAST THINKER – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
SIESTA KEY – Approaching the 1000 metres, steadied momentarily to avoid the heels of FAST THINKER, which shifted in when not completely clear.
EPICURIOUS – Slow to begin.
RACE 7: PARADISE COUNTRY BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1800 METRES
LOOKS LIKE (NZ) – Slow in to stride. After being caught wide in the early stages, was permitted to stride forward by its rider to obtain a leading position near the 1200 metres. On returning to scale, rider J Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding raced flat in today’s event and, when asked to quicken from approaching the 500 metres, failed to respond as he expected and ran on only fairly.
GRATSIE – Had some difficulties securing clear running rounding the home turn.
RACE 8: AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR CLASS 1 HANDICAP 900 METRES
WOODY WOOD DUCK – Leaving the 600 metres, was tightened for room and eased when MASTER RED shifted in and away from ATLANTIC ROSE.Rider J Morris was fined $400.00 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on six (6) occasions prior to the 100 metres, being one (1) more than permitted.
CALL ME MAGGIE – Began awkwardly making contact with the barrier partition and, as a result, lost ground at the start.
DANSANT – Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages when disappointed for a run. For a considerable distance after passing the winning post was awkwardly placed at heels when SAM’S A NATURTAL laid in, despite the efforts of its rider.
SPIRIT OF LUCK – Slow to begin. Near the 700 metres, was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels.
SAM'S A NATURAL – Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages when disappointed for a run. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
