QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Aquis Park Gold CoastGOLD COAST– FRIDAY 27TH AUGUST 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUEPENETROMETER – 4.61 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R HitchenerStewards – P Zimmermann, K Daly, P KennedyClerk of Scales – M WinwoodJudge – S McMahon, G AndersonVeterinarian – Dr S FlynnSwab Attendants – A Challen, K Kilpatrick Starter – S Andrews GENERAL Due to the covid restrictions, Stewards approved the following overweight allowances - Race 4- REAL DIVINE- L Tilley +1kgRace 4- READILY REWARDED- M Hellyer +1/2kgRace 7- TRAMONTO- J Guthmann-Chester +1kg Race 1: BURLEIGH BOWLS Maiden Plate 2200 metres POWER PUNCH (NZ) - As the gelding had not raced in a period exceeding 12 months, it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the event and was passed suitable to race. KINKUNA – B Thornton, rider of TKINKUNA, was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 9 times prior to the 100 metres, 4 more than permitted. MR REDDINGTON – Steadied shortly after the start when placed in restricted room shortly after the start. Approaching the 1800 metres checked when placed in restricted room to the inside of STOCKED AND LOADED which laid in despite the efforts of its rider. B Newport, rider of MR REDDINGTON, was reprimanded under Ar132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. ROYAL GEORGE – Raced three wide in the early stages of the event. SHADOW FOX – Slow to begin. STOCKED AND LOADED (NZ) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BIG HITTER – Slow to begin. BULLA BULLA - Delayed the start when proved reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer B Robinson was advised a warning would be placed on the mare. LILIVALE LIBERTY – Began awkwardly. THE RED DANCER – R Jamieson, rider of THE RED DANCER, was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100 metres, one more than permitted. Race 2: TONY GOLLAN 20/21 PREMIER TRAINER QTISThree-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 900 metres MISHANI OPERATOR – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout the event. Rider J Orman reported the gelding hung in under pressure in the home straight. WINNEBA – Rider K Wilson-Taylor could offer no explanation for the below market performance of the filly which failed to quicken when place under pressure in the home straight. MISS SEATTLE – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. Following the running of this event apprentice M Wishart was examined by QAS staff and stood down from her remaining riding engagements as per the Race-day summary sheet. M Wishart was advised she will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Race 3: TRAVIS WOLFGRAM 20/21 PREMIER JOCKEY Class 3Handicap 1800 metres KAIBERRY (NZ) - Declared a Late Scratching at 8:38am acting on Veterinary advice. INDIAN DREAMER – When questioned regarding the below market expectations rider A Mallyon advised the gelding travelled comfortably in a one out one back position however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn was immediately under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination immediately following the event revealed a poor post-race recovery and mild heat stress. Co-trainer Trent Edmonds also expressed disappointment in the performance and advised the horse had recovered well on return to the stable and would report back to Stewards any condition which may come to light in the coming days. TYCOON BELLA – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. CHEERS TO ALL – Tightened on jumping. Forced wider by another runner near the 1300 metres and as a result raced wide for the remainder of the event. GALAXY BELLE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and shifted in, and a short distance later bumped by CHEERS TO ALL. HOPEFUL STAR - Tightened on jumping and lost ground. SPIRIT OF EDYN – Checked at the start when TYCOON BELLA jumped out. Race 4: JADEN LLOYD 20/21 PREMIER APPRENTICE Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres Correct weight was delayed to allow connections of EDIFICATION to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings of 1-2-5-3. EDIFICATION – Slow to begin. CANISTER – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. REAL DIVINE – On arrival at the barriers and after drifting significantly in the market, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. READILY REWARDED - Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. STELLAR - Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. As apprentice M Wishart was stood down by QAS staff, Stewards permitted M Du Plessis to ride the mare when no other apprentice was available. M Du Plessis reported STELLAR was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event, and in his opinion did not appreciate today’s prevailing track conditions. RIVER OF LOVE – Slow to begin. Race 5: GCTC HALL OF FAME - THE HEINRICH FAMILY Maiden Plate 1200 metres FOCUS – Passing the 400 metres improved onto heels and had to be steadied. MARGIN OF ERROR - Raced three wide for the majority of the event. In the early stages of the home straight steadied from heels when laying in under pressure. WHITEWATER – Raced three wide before settling outside the leader near the 600 metres. TILIBET - Raced three wide for the majority of the event. FROM THE GONG – Raced 4 wide for the majority of the event. Race 6: GCTC HALL OF FAME - MIGHT AND POWER RATINGS BAND 0- 70 Handicap 1400 metres JETTY – Blundered on jumping and lost ground. Rider A Mallyon reported JETTY sweated up badly prior to the event and after blundering on jumping settled further back in the field than anticipated. He added when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Co-trainer Trent Edmonds expressed disappointment in the performance adding he felt the horse sweating up was a major factor and that moving forward he would refrain from starting JETTY at the Gold Coast as the horse had paraded in a similarly poor manner previously. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. GO DARCY (NZ) – Slow to begin. Near the 1000 metres when racing keenly improved onto heels and had to be steadied. THE HAND – As a result of beginning well and being caught wide in the early stages rider C Eaton elected to allow the horse to stride forward and race outside the leader from the 1100 metres. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance trainer M Boland explained THE HAND has a history of being tardy to begin, however after beginning well and racing in a handy position he was not entirely surprised by today’s performance. The licence of C Eaton to ride in races was suspended under AR132(5) for a period of 8 days to commence midnight 19th September up to and including midnight 27th September 2021 in that she used the whip 18 times in totality. Stewards ordered this suspension to commence at the expiry of a previously incurred suspension from Bowen on Saturday 21st August 2021. FORTIFIED (NZ) – Raced three wide with cover throughout. COTTON FIELDS – Rider R Maloney reported he could offer no explanation for today’s poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. ESKDALE GIRL – Slow to begin. PETUNIA – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Race 7: MARTIN COLLINS GOLDMARKET 1200 metres FREDDIE FOX TROT – Slow to begin. Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event. SNITCH – Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 100 metres. TOTALLY CHARMED – Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. EF TROOP – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. SNOWZONE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. LEROYTHECONQUEROR – Slow to begin. Race 8: GCTC MEMBER OF THE YEAR - JIM FRANK RATINGS BAND 0 -65 Handicap 1200 metres ZUMIKON – After sustaining a minor scratch to the offside nostril when being transported to the track, and at the request of trainer L Gough, a pre-race veterinary examination on arrival at the track passed ZUMIKON clear to start. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event. NICCI'S SPIRIT – Rider J Byrne reported the mare settled in a rearward position as per its usual racing pattern and that the tempo of the race did not suit the racing pattern of NICCI’S SPIRIT and in the circumstances was not entirely disappointed in the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. VON SAGA – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the event.
