QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST – SATURDAY 9 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD 4 RAIL – 7M 1400M;4M REMAINDERPENETROMETER –4.5 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. Watson GENERAL As App. Z. Lloyd had not obtained a medical certificate clearing him to race ride, he was replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Race 1: THE PERCH BY MOËT & CHANDON BOOK NOW Maiden Handicap 900 metres Race time for this race was amended to 12:07pm as there were issues with the Stewards patrol footage. NKWAZI'S PRIDE – Slow to begin. NOR FORCE– Rider T Brooker reported that the gelding raced greenly throughout. MADE OF MONEY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the request of the Stewards and was passed suitable to race. Performed below market expectations. Rider J Guthmann-Chester reported that the mare showed early pace, however when placed in restricted racing room by NOR FORCE near the 600m the mare was reluctant remain to the inside that runner and lost ground of its own accord and travelled only reasonably from that point, proving disappointing. Trainer M Fry stated that in his opinion the interference at the 600m had a detrimental effect on the horses finishing efforts. When Stewards attempted to have the MADE OF MONEY vetted post-race it was found that the horse had left the course. Stewards after contacting trainer M Fry ordered that the horse be returned to the course. The post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer M Fry was subsequently fined $300 for failing to ensure the horse remained on course the required time. TRUE STORY – Near the 600m improved on the heels and shifted out to obtain clear running. GALLERY MASTER – Hung out badly for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings. Trainer B Guy was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to next racing. IZARA'S DREAM– Slow to begin. Raced very ungenerously throughout. Trainer P Duncan was advised that a warning will be placed on the mares racing manners. PRINCESS KAIULANI – Forced wider approaching and rounding the home turn. WHISTLING LOREN– Near the 600m was forced wider when TRUE STORY shifted out to obtain clear running. SCAMPY – Slow to begin. Race 2: QUEENSLAND THOROUGHBRED OWNERS ASSOCIATION OPEN Handicap 900 metres ARCHER'S PARADOX - As the mare had not started in a period exceeding 12months, it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon prior to the event and passed suitable to race. Laid in for the majority. Apprentice M Castle pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) in that she failed to ride here mount out to the conclusion of the race. Apprentice M Castle’s licence to ride in races for a period of 14 day’s commencing m/n 18 October 2021 and to expire m/n 1 November 2021. In assessing penalty Stewards were of the opinion that Apprentice Castle’s failure to ride out her mount out had cost her mount 2nd placing. ONE STRYKE – Laid in under pressure in the straight. Near the 600m raced in restricted room and eased when WUDANG BLADE shifted in. Jockey N Callow was reprimanded under AR131(a) when he shifted in when insufficiently clear. Race 3: IBIS BRISBANE AIRPORT HOTEL QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1800 metres BURLESY (NZ) – Began awkwardly. Over-raced in the early stages. THE BEAT GOES ON – Tightened for room on jumping. Approaching 400m became awkward and was checked when momentarily placed in restricted room to the inside of LEAGLESE which shifted in momentarily. LEAGLESE– Laid in under pressure in the home straight. ANGLICUS– As Jockey J Guthmann-Chester was to be overweight Stewards permitted A Thompson to replace him as the rider of the filly. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester was subsequently fined a sum of $200 under AR190(3). Approaching the 400m improved into the heels of LEAGLESE and became awkward and buffeted between runners. Race 4: PEACHESTER LODGE BENCHMARK 68 Handicap 1800 metre DONANDKIM - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer T Cotsiopoulos in relation to the later rider notification of C Caserta. Slow to begin. GOTTA BE FIRST– Slow to begin. LEICA BITA FUN– Approaching the 400m was checked and blundered when attempting a narrow run to the inside of DONANDKIM and DORSET COAT which shifted out marginally. Race 5: RIDGMONT FARM Class 2 Handicap 1200 metres TWELVE APOSTLES – Began awkwardly. Performed below market expectations. Rider N Callow could not offer any tangible explanation in relation to the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination identified poor post-race recovery and mild heat stress. DANISH FORTUNE– Began awkwardly and lost ground. Over-raced in the early stages. JERONIMOS (NZ)– Bumped on jumping. Rider A Fancourt reported the gelding had a tendency to lay in throughout and she had concerns with the geldings action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any abnormal findings. IN GREAT NIC – Bumped on jumping. Race 6: RITESPACE CONSTRUCTIONS Maiden Plate 1400 metres WAR HOPE was declared a late scratching at 2:57pm when the gelding refused to load. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on WAR HOPE be refunded. Deductions applicable to bets placed on winner and placegetters prior to 2:57pm:4 cents in the dollar for the win - OSSABUCO3 cents in the dollar for the place of winner - OSSABUCO7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place – BURGUNDY RULES6 cents in the dollar for 3rd place CURWOOD Trainer J Bellamy was advised that the gelding will be required officially trial on 2 separate occasions before racing again. COULOMB (NZ) - Momentarily held up for clear rounding the home turn. OSSABUCO – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily held up for clear rounding the home turn. ROMAN REIGN – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. WURNIC – Put in an awkward stride shortly after the start. SAINT MARTIN – Held up when awkwardly placed for considerable distance leaving the 300m. Race 7: FANFAVE Class 1 Handicap 1800 metres HARMONY NATION– Slow to begin. OSTERMEIER– Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight before shifting in to secure clear running near the 250m. EXPRESSO LOVE – Laid out rounding the home turn. WAIKATO– Over-raced in the early and middle stages. REAL DIVINE– Slow to begin. SIENNA'S AWARD– Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Near the 50m was checked to avoid the heels of OSTERMEIRER which shifted out under hard riding. Jockey N Callow was pleaded guilty to a charge to careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he shifted out which insufficiently clear at that point of the race. Jockey N Callow’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight 23 October 2021, the expiration of a suspension already incurred, and to expire midnight 1 November 2021. A post-race veterinary examination identified the mare to be lame in off-hind leg. Trainer’s representative was notified that they will be required to provide a Veterinary Clearance prior to the horse racing or trialing again. MR MAHARAJ– Slow to begin. Race 8: 8 LUCKY CLOVER THOROUGHBREDS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1400 metres FLYING MACHINE - As Jockey B Pengelly was to be overweight, he was replaced as the rider of the gelding by S Cormack. Jockey Pengelly was subsequently fined a sum of $200 under AR190(3). BROOK HILL – Over-raced in the early stages. LOCA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for some distance approaching the 200m. EXTREME JEWEL – Proved difficult to load. Began awkwardly. ROCQUETTE – Approaching the 1000m was steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of WILLINGA PANACHE which shifted out to improve. WILLINGA PANACHE– Began awkwardly.
