QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST – SATURDAY 30 OCTOBER 2021 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUEPENETROMETER –4.43 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R. Andrews Race 1: SKY RACING Maiden Handicap 1800 metres The start was delayed approximately 1 minute when LIPEANSASS proved difficult to load LIPEANSASS – Began awkwardly. SHOPPING WISE– Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn. Near the 150m, bumped heavily by another runner. COULOMB (NZ) – After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1300m. Over raced during the middle stages. FLETCHER'S MUTINY (NZ) - After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain the leading position near the 1300m. BURLESY (NZ) – Laid out over the concluding stages. KERMAKAYA – Lost an off fore plate in running. Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed it to be mildly lame in the off fore leg. WURNIC – Near the 200m, was disappointed for a run and lost ground, and then had difficulty securing clear running for some distance. Race 2: STORAGE KING TWEED HEADS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1800 metres All runners in this race were subject to pre-race swab sampling. THINK HIGH – Jockey T Wolfgram could offer no explanation for the seemingly poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. DEAL OF POWER – Jockey G Cartwright was fined $600 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Race 3: RWSPG ADMIN TEAM APPREICATION DAY Class 4 Handicap 1800 metres DORSET COAST – Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey L Dittman was fined $300 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. KAIBERRY (NZ) – Fractious in the barriers. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey M Hellyer was fined $300 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. Race 4: BREED WITH AQUIS QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres MINTO'S PARADISE – Began awkwardly. Laid in for the majority of the event. EUROMANTIC – Began awkwardly. Bumped by another runner near the 150m. GENERAL WOLFFE – Slow to begin. Race 5: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 900 metres WHITTINGTON WAYS – Laid in under pressure in the concluding stages. On returning to scale, jockey Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding was slow to muster early speed and was hard ridden for the majority of the event. He added that in the home straight, the gelding made strong late ground and, in his opinion, would be suited stepping up in distance for its next start. COMMANDEERING – After being kicked behind the barriers, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Placed in restricted room over the concluding stages. NOR FORCE – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. MOONAN JOYCE - As the mare has not started in a period exceeding 12 months, it was subject to a pre-race Veterinary examination and was subsequently passed suitable to race. LADY TULESSA – Knuckled on jumping away and as a result lost ground. Race 6: TAB Maiden Handicap 900 metres PRIVATE SECTOR – After becoming fractious in the barriers, was subsequently declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 3:41pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered all monies invested on PRIVATE SECTOR be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st - 28c the win, 10c the place2nd – 28c the place3rd – 26c the place Trainer L Freedman was advised that he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for PRIVATE SECTOR prior to its next racing. Jockey R Wiggins who sustained an injury to his right leg as a result of this incident was advised he would require a medical certificate prior to next riding. A post- race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a laceration to the near hind leg. BRAZEN ZUMBA – Severely tightened for room at the start losing ground. TAKING FLIGHT - Bumped heavily shortly after the start, becoming unbalanced. Raced keenly and had a tendency to hang in during the early stages. KINDLING SPIRIT – Raced greenly in the home straight. COOL ESPRESSO – Bumped heavily shortly after the start, becoming unbalanced. SHEZANUISANCE – Laid out rounding the home turn. Race 7: SKY RACING Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres OCEAN WAVES (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover for the majority. ABDICATING – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. ABLE MABEL– Near the 100m, was placed in restricted room when ABDICATING laid out and STORMY ROCK shifted in after being taken in by ZOULOU DANCER. PAY WITH CASH – Slow to begin. Approaching the 900m, raced with its head in the air for a considerable distance whilst being restrained. RENOUF– Slow to begin. Near the 900m, was steadied to avoid the heels of another runner. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. Approaching the finish line, was steadied when awkwardly placed on heels. Race 8: ALL STARS SPORTS LUNCH Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres HAPPY BABE - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. CALCAREOUS – Began awkwardly. Momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed near the 400m. LEAVE ME ALONG – Began awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner, and was then tightened for room shortly after the start, and lost ground. OSSABUCO – Held up from the 600m until near the 400m. NOT A CHOICE– Began awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner. SHOPPING ESPRIT– After being slow to begin, then failed to muster early speed. ZOMBIE– Post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which weakened noticeably in the home straight revealed it to be suffering from Cardiac Arrythmia. Trainer M Caltabiano was advised that prior to the gelding next racing, he would be required to obtain a veterinary certificate for the horse including the results of an ECG. Further the gelding will be required to officially barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to next racing. VIVYN – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KIKI COCO – Raced with its head in the air shortly after the start. MISS HUSTLE – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
