QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Gold Coast – Saturday 18 December 2021 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING –Good 4, Good 3 retrospective to include race 1 RAIL – 7m 1400m to winning post, 4m remainder PENETROMETER – 4.45 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Hitchener Stewards – P Zimmerman, P Reardon, D McMahon, Clerk of Scales – C FredrickJudge – S McMahon, G AndersonVeterinarian – Dr G CavanaughSwab Attendants – K Kilpatrick, L Bobeszko Starter –S Andrews, K Watson GENERAL As Jockey J Woodhouse was not riding due to personal reasons, Jockey J Morris was injured, and Jockey J Guthmann-Chester was unable to fulfil his engagements they were replaced as per the Stewards Summary. Stewards approved the following overweight allowances Race 5- MANDO ROCK- T Wolfgram +1kgRace 6- THE FIRE TRAP- T Wolfgram +1kg Race 1: AMALGAMATED GROUP QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1200 metres BENEDICT ARNOLD - After refusing to load in the barriers BENEDICT ARNOLD was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 12:29pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on BENEDICT ARNOLD be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st 3c the win, 4c the place2nd 5c the place Trainer L Kelly was advised that he would be required to obtain a barrier certificate for the colt prior to next racing. MISHANI REBOUND – Laid out rounding the home turn. FLORAL OASIS - Bumped heavily on jumping and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages proving difficult to restrain and as a consequence was forced to race three wide without cover throughout. MY LAWLESS LADY – Began awkwardly and shifted out making heavy contact with another runner. RUSSIAN WARRIOR – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. Near the 200m, improved onto heels before shifting out abruptly to secure clear running. Jockey A Chau was reprimanded for using his whip excessively during the event that being on 15 occasions. AR132(5). Race 2: DULUX CONSTRUCTION SOLUTIONS Maiden Handicap 1800 metres Following the running of race 1 the track was upgraded to a Good 3 retrospective to include race 1. SCARLET PIMPERNEL- After being caught wide in the early stages was ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1500m and as a consequence settled further forward than anticipated. WAR HOPE- Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. ZANY LAD- Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which compounded from the 700m revealed it to have sustained an injury to the near-fore tendon. Trainer G Cornish was advised he will be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it next racing. DEEP THRILLZ- Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with another runner. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Cast its near-fore plate in running. KITTYKITTYBANGBANG- Slow into stride. MARMION- Raced keenly in the early stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. HOUDINI HUDSON- Raced keenly in the early stages. SAXON ROSE- Near the 1300m improved onto heels and as a consequence, momentarily shifted to a three-wide position. Race 3: DULUX PROJECT EARTH Class 4 Handicap 1400 metres PAY WITH CASH – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn. STORM ATTACK – Disappointed for a run rounding the home turn. MINTO'S PARADISE – Cast a near-hind plate in running. Laid in over the concluding stages. A post-race examination of the colt revealed a superficial laceration to the inside of the near-hind leg. Race 4: AMALGAMATED PAINTING Maiden Handicap 1200 metres CHAIN OF FIRE - Trainer G Heinrich was fined $200 for the late gear notification of x-over noseband for the colt. AR206(2). Jockey A Fancourt was fined $300 for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). AVENUE OF HEAVEN– After being injured in the tie up stalls was declared a late scratching by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice at 1:48PM. As on course betting in this event had not commenced, no deductions were required. BALLISTIC BABE – Near the 1000m raced in restricted room and eased when IRING laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn. CYCLONE BLACKIE – Began awkwardly. IRING - Began awkwardly. Laid in throughout. BAKREYA - Began awkwardly. ARMANTO – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Near the 900m momentarily raced in restricted room. Race 5: JP FLYING Class 2 Handicap 900 metres WORLD CHARMER (NZ) - Declared at late scratching by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advise at 8:23am. ASHERLA – After becoming fractious in the mounting yard, was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to entering the track and again at arrival at the barriers and on both occasions was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. PHOENIX RIVER – Held up rounding the home turn. RUBYEXPRESS - The start was delayed when the mare proved very difficult to load. Trainer G Cornish was advised he would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate for the mare prior to it next racing. INTIMATE TYCOON – Saddle shifted passing the 200m placing her at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event. MANDO ROCK – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Laid in during the early stages. ASTROPHYSICS – On returning to scale Jockey S Galloway advised his saddle shifted back during the event placing him at some disadvantage. Race 6: AMALGAMATED REFURBISHMENT OPEN Handicap 1200 metres AXE – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.SEA RAIDER – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. After passing the finish post raced in restricted room to the inside of CONSTANT FLIGHT which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey B Pengelly the rider of CONSTANT FLIGHT was advised to exercise more care. THE FIRE TRAP – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. BEACHBREAK – Slow to begin. XANTHUS – Raced keenly in the early stages. Race 7: AMALGAMATED REMEDIAL BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1800 metres UNEARTHED – Jockey S Galloway reported that as a result of being caught wide in the early stages, he allowed his mount to stride forward to obtain a position on the rail near the 1600m and as a result settled further forward than he had anticipated. He added that the mare then raced keenly for a short distance and then travelled comfortably however from the 500m failed to quicken as he had expected which he attributed to the mare jarring up on the firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. ICE ELITE – Slow to begin. SINO DEFEAT – Passing the 100m when racing in close proximity to LOVING MISS (T Wolfgram), Jockey A Thompson’s left foot became entangled in the stirrup iron of Jockey T Wolfgram, placing Jockey Thompson at a disadvantage for a short distance. MARECAT – After being caught wide was ridden forward by its rider from near the 1300m to obtain the position outside the leader approaching the 1100m. Race 8: AMALGAMATED WINDOWS BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1400 metres DELIBERATION – Buffeted between runners when attempting to shift out to improve rounding the home turn. FAST THINKER – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. LIABILITY– Whilst racing keenly passing the 1000m improved onto heels and shifted three-wide. As a consequence, raced wide for the remainder of the event. TOUCAN SAM (NZ) - Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. PURE INDULGENCE – Jockey A Fancourt was reprimanded for using her whip on consecutive occasions prior to the 100m. 132(7)(a)(i). EL CHAPARRO – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
