Race 1: AQUIS RACEDAY JAN 8 BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 900 metres COMMANDEERING - Slow into stride. LADY CLARE - Trainer W Lawson was fined $200 for the late rider notification. MADE OF MONEY – Slow into stride. Race 2: GLASSHOUSE GARDEN PARTY JAN 8 QTIS Two-Year-OldHandicap 1100 metresSHOTGUN DIVA – Near the 250m, when commencing to weaken, was momentarily placed in restricted room and eased when PERFECT MISSION shifted in. VICTORY MOMENTS – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight when attempting a narrow run and then was placed in restricted room near the 200m when PERFECT MISSION laid in. Race 3: SKY RACING Maiden Plate 1100 metres MANHOOD- Trainer M Costa was fined $200 for the late rider notification. Mr Costa was fined a further $200 for failing to scratch MANHOOD, which was a duel acceptor at this meeting, from one of its respective races by the prescribed time. The start was delayed when MON CADEAU dislodged apprentice Z Lloyd during the preliminary. Whilst apprentice Lloyd was dislodged, he was able to maintain control of the gelding. As apprentice Lloyd’s saddle shifted in this incident the start was further delayed whilst this gear adjustment was undertaken. COTTON FINGERS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. IRING – Laid in during the early stages. MON CADEAU – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Apprentice Z Lloyd was reprimanded for using his whip on consecutive occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(i). CARRY ON DRAGON – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide with cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the straight. NOBLE FLAME – Raced greenly throughout the event. ROJO BOOM – Tightened for room at the start. Momentarily raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m. Race 4: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE FLINT QTIS Three-Year-Old MaidenPlate 1300 metres The start was initially delayed to allow the broadcast of an interstate event The start was further delayed when VIRTUOSITY became fractious in the barriers. After being removed and examined by the veterinary surgeon was subsequently passed fit to start. In this incident Jockey G Colless reported he was experiencing some discomfort in his right hip. AIR FORCE ACE – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. BALTRAY – Connections advised it was the intention to ride the gelding in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Subsequently after being caught wide in the early stages was restrained to a rearward position with cover. Near the 1000m, was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Raced greenly during the event. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and had a tendency to lay out thereafter. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have been galloped on the near-hind leg. JETFOIL – When the pace of the race steadied near the 1000m, improved onto heels and was steadied. Over raced during the middle stages. SPEED MAP - Jockey S Galloway was fined $400 for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. SPILL THE DIAMONDS – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. CALLYWAG – Slow to begin. Raced greenly during the event. VIRTUOSITY - Over raced during the middle stages. LICENCE TO THRILL– Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Race 5: 2YO TAB CALCUTTA DINNER OPEN Handicap 1400 metres RIGHT OR WRONG - Jockey M Murphy was reprimanded for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m BARGANNON – Connections advised that from the wide barrier it was the intention to ride the gelding further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Jockey N callow advised that the gelding failed to travel during the early and middle stages and was hard ridden from the 700m. He added that in the home straight the gelding made some late ground however in his opinion was disappointing and maybe looking for races over a further distance than that of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. DESTINY'S OWN – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. BROOK HILL – Laid in during the early and middle stages. Race 6: QUEENSLAND JEWEL RACEDAY MARCH 19 Class 1 Handicap1800 metres THAT'LLDOTOO – Slow to begin. Lost the near-hind plate in running. OCTOBER JOY – Raced wide until a point near the 1100m. FLYING EUROS – Lost its off-fore plate in running. TRIPPER - Slow to begin. SOMEBODY STOP ME (NZ) - Slow to begin. Jockey M Crawford was fined $200 for using his whip during the event in a manner which breached AR132(5). Race 7: CALCUTTA RAFFLE TICKETS ON SALE RATINGS BAND 0 - 58Handicap 1400 metres After becoming fractious in the barriers AGENT OF MAYHEM was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and subsequently passed fit to start. BRIEF SOJOURN – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. SATINE – Began awkwardly.PITTSBURGH PHIL – Near the 250m, when commencing to weaken laid in and was steadied from heels. HE'S THE DEEL – Bumped on the hind quarters shortly after the start and lost ground. Raced keenly during the middle stages. Race 8: SKY RACING Class 1 Handicap 1400 metres Upon arrival at the barriers, it was noted that JOLVAD had displaced its tounge tie during the preliminary. As the tounge tie was unable to be refitted despite a number of attempts by the barrier staff, stewards after contacting the gelding’s trainer Mr L Kelly allowed the gelding to race without this gear. SOVEREIGN LEGEND – Steadied for some distance when awkwardly placed at heels near the 600m. Apprentice Y Lewis was reprimanded for using her whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of the thumps. DAY DAY SUPREME – Apprentice M Potgeiter was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance of the gelding, which drifted notably in betting, other than it had a tendency to lay out throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. TRENCH WARFARE (NZ) – Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn. COSMO KRAMER – Jockey N Callow reported that the gelding over raced during the early and middle stages which he felt resulted in it having a diminished finishing sprint over the concluding stages. JOLVAD – Near the 1000m momentarily eased when awkwardly placed at the heels of APPLICATIONS which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice D McGillivray had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 15 days for using his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100m. The period of suspension to commence at midnight on the 30th of December 2021 and to expire at midnight on the 14th of January 2022. APPLICATIONS (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn.
