GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following jockeys to ride overweight.
 
Race 1 – Shotgun Diva – Jag Guthmann-Chester plus 1kg at 56kg.
Race 4 – Sea Stitch – Jag Guthmann-Chester plus 1/2kg at 56kg.
Race 5 -  Murion – Troy See plus 1kg at 55kg.
Race 9 – Okalani – Luke Dittman plus 1kg at 56kg.
 
 
Race 1: SKYLINE RESTAURANT QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100 metres
 
CLOVER'S PRINCE – Jockey N Callow reported that his mount had to work harder than expected to cross from the wide barrier and was disappointed with its performance. Performed below maker expectation and underwent a post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have a poor post-race recovery.
 
MISHANI MISSILE – Restrained from the wide barrier shortly after the start.
 
OUR DRUMMER – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly during the event.
 
MISHANI HOOD – Raced wide throughout.
 
NUCLEAR GIRL – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
 
SHOTGUN DIVA – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly. Cast the off-hind plate.
 
IMPOSING TIGER – Began awkwardly. Steadied when tightened for racing room between SHOTGUN DIVA and OUR DRUMMER which when racing greenly shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
 
BRAMBLE BAY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: AUTUMN FASHION LUNCH GC CUP 7 MAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate  1100 metres
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Raced wide throughout.
 
NEW ARRIVAL – Jockey G Colless reported that after travelling well to the turn, proved disappointing from that point. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
STILL READY – Laid out in the home straight.
 
JAIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
MOET ICE – Cast the off-hind plate.
 
CHARLIE FOXTROT – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: KK&O. AGENCY Maiden Handicap 1800 metres
 
BAY STREET – Slow to begin. Trainer M Wilson was of the view that the gelding did not handle todays track conditions and would monitor how the horse pulls up in the following days before considering its next start.
 
NIGHT VISION – Jockey G Colless reported to stewards that he had some discomfort to his lower back as a result of an incident in race 2. Jockey Colless was later assessed by QAS and fulfilled his remaining engagements.
 
TARBENA NZ – Slow to begin.
 
A DEEL OF HUMOUR – Raced wide for the majority. Apprentice J Williams was reprimanded for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
THE WOLVERINE – Stewards questioned jockey N Callow regarding tactics adopted. Jockey Callow stated that after beginning very slowly he did not want to overly pressure his mount in the early stages for fearing it may commence to over race. Jockey Callow further stated that nearing the 800m, it was his intention to trail forward on the back of A DEEL OF HUMOUR but when that runner began to labour and not wanting to shift four wide, he then elected to look for runs nearer the inside. Jockey Callow further stated he felt the gelding was very one paced and he was obliged to steady after improving onto heels near the 200m and was obliged to shift nearer the inside to secure clear running. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards noted his comments.
 
IS THAT YOU ETHEL – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to have tied up.
 
DODGEBALL NZ – Steadied from heels near the 1400m.
 
 
Race 4: PINK FLAMINGO SPIEGELCLUB Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
SACRED OATH NZ – Laid out shortly after the start and raced greenly thereafter.
 
TERMITE – Shortly after the start buffeted between runners and eased.
 
JAQEN H'GHAR – Raced keenly early.
 
AUSBRED YAHOO – Near the 200m, improved onto heels and shifted wider to obtain clear running.
 
SAINT MARTIN – Jockey M Hellyer reported that his mount was inclined to lay in for the majority.
 
MY MISS MOONPIE – Steadied from heels near the 200m.
 
SEA STITCH – Raced three-wide early.
 
Race 5: ROBINA PAVILION OPEN Handicap 1200 metres
 
FREDDIE FOX TROT – When over racing near the 900m, steadied from the heels of SNOWZONE which shifted in. Jockey Dittman the rider of SNOWZONE was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
ASTORIA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as it had not started for an extended period and was cleared to start. Raced three-wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a bi-lateral nasal discharge. Trainer advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate and to include the results of an endoscopic examination prior to returning to the races.
 
SMOOTH MOVE – Leaving the 900m, raced tightly to the inside of FREDDIE FOXTROT when racing keenly.
 
Race 6: RAY WHITE SURFERS PARADISE GROUP QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
MISS HAPPY HOUR – Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 2:55pm after refusing to load into the barriers. Trainer L Elliott was advised that the filly would require a barrier certificate prior to resuming.
 
DARABAZ – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground.
 
GULF OF ODESSA – Change of tactics, to be ridden further forward. Slow to begin and ridden further back than anticipated.
 
AWE – Disappointed for a run between FLAMIN’ READY and SACRED STREAM which laid in.
 
SPICY KING PRAWN – Over raced early. Near the 900m, raced tightly between runners.
 
SACRED STREAM NZ – Over raced early. Laid in in the early stages of the home straight.
 
THE LOVE OF MARY – Restrained at the start from a wide barrier.
 
SHONGALONGA – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
COPPERCHINO – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
Race 7: WATT UTILITIES Class 1 Plate 1200 metres
 
CALCAREOUS – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
CANISTER – Slow to begin.
 
ALIBOOG – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
SCRIPT WRITER – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
TESSNEEM – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: ROBINA BOWLS CLUB BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1300 metres
 
THE CATCH – Began moderately. Raced in restricted room leaving the 900m when BEEN DREAMIN’ laid in. Held up in the early part of the home straight.
 
BEAN DREAMIN' – Began awkwardly.
 
REGAL EDITION – Slow to begin.
 
LIPEANSASS – Rounding the home turn, steadied when TOP BOY shifted out to improve. Jockey C Robertson the rider of TOP BOY was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
LEMON DUCHESS – Began to weaken passing the 500m and performed below expectation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer G Cornish was advised that the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to resuming.
 
TOP BOY – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 900m.
 
Race 9: MR. FITZ SENIOR BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1300 metres
 
NUMBERS GAME NZ – In the early part of the home straight raced tightly between OKALANI and LOCA which shifted out.
 
SCILAGO – Slow to begin.
 
HODGSON – Began awkwardly.
 
ZOUMANJI – Leaving the 900m, tightened for racing room when OKALANI laid in and HODGSON laid out.
 
BRUJA – Began awkwardly and shifted in. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting the thumps.
 
COLLECTION POINT – Slow to begin. Cast and off-hind plate.
 
LOCA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 350m to the 250m.
 
OKALANI – Change of tactics, from a wide barrier to attempt to be ridden with cover. After being caught wide its rider elected to stride forward. Shortly after jumping, raced in restricted room. Near the 300m was steadied when NUMBERS GAME shifted out. Apprentice A Jones the rider of NUMBERS GAME was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Jockey L Dittman could offer no comment for the below market expectations performance of the filly. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
GROOMED – Began awkwardly. Apprentice J Cornish reported that the gelding didn’t handle todays track conditions.
