Race 1: LUCAS MILLOTT MEMORIAL Class 1 Plate 1100 metres CELTIC HARP – Near the 75m, momentarily raced in restricted room. Jockey L Dittman reported that the gelding travelled only reasonably during the event and when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion proved disappointing. TABULAM – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight. TIKKA READY – When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance, stable representative for Mr S Morrisey reported that at its most recent start the gelding was racing at metropolitan level and for that reason he felt the drop back in class was a significant advantage for the gelding in today’s event. He also added that the geldings only other win was also at the Gold Coast and therefore in his opinion the gelding is suited best when racing at this venue. KAIQUE – Near the 700m, laid out and as a consequence shifted to a three-wide position. A short distance later when correcting back to a position one off the fence, clipped the heels of DARK HORSE and as a result lost ground. Race 2: PETER 'PEDRO' GALLAGHER MEMORIAL Class 3 Plate 1200 metres CAMERLENGO – Over raced during the early and middle stages. HARLEQUIN FIELD – Laid out rounding the home turn. MOYASSAR – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting signs of the thumps. GINGER ROCK – Slow into stride. On returning to scale, Jockey M Hellyer reported that the mare felt short in its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 3: SURFERS PARADISE GOLF CLUB Maiden Handicap 1200 metres I AM AZZURRO – Slow into stride. Raced wide throughout. NOBLE INDIAN – Near the 1100m, raced ungenerously whilst being restrained. AUTISSIER – Jockey L Dittman could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken. BARONIAL – As a result of racing keenly, was shifted wider on the track by its rider near the 1000m to obtain the position outside the leader near the 800m. KING CORNELIUS – Momentarily steadied near the 800m. BOUT – Approaching the 1000m, was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. UPLOADS – As there were no other riders available to ride closer to the allotted weight, Stewards permitted App. J Franklin to ride the gelding 1.5kg overweight. Approaching the 1000m, was steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. Race 4: LEVI'S PROJECT Class 4 Handicap 1700 metres The start was delayed to allow for the broadcast of an interstate event. DOGMATIC – Bumped on jumping. DU MAURIER – Jockey B Pengelly was reprimanded for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). DARING MAN – Slow to begin. Jockey T See was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). GEOSTORM – Over raced in the early stages and resented being restrained. Steadied when awkwardly placed at heels rounding the home turn. QUKES – Connections advised it would be the intention for the mare to be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Bumped on jumping. Race 5: PRO FIT INSULATION Class 1 Plate 1700 metres AGENT OF MAYHEM – Over raced in the early stages and raced ungenerously whilst being restrained. HARVESTA – Slightly slow to begin. Jockey J Adams was reminded of his obligations in relation to using his whip in a manner which raises his arm above shoulder height. JETFOIL – Began awkwardly. CHAYSE 'N' TANYA – Slow to begin. FOXY FRAULIEN – Over raced in the early stages and raced ungenerously whilst being restrained. Race 6: VIP SPORTS AND EVENTS BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1350 metres RIPCORD – Slow to begin. NUMBERS GAME – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running from entering the home straight until a point near 150m. CONTESSA – Jockey L Dittman reported that the mare travelled comfortably during the event, however when asked to quicken from the 500m, the mare failed to respond as he had anticipated and in the home straight did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. DULCIE TIE – Stewards accepted the reasons for the late rider notification of T Brooker as the mare’s rider. Raced three-wide with cover throughout. Momentarily steadied passing the 200m when awkwardly placed at heels. AL SAHARA – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. MY ADELINE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Race 7: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROCK MELLON RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1350 metres The start was delayed when PERFECT QUALITY proved difficult to load. PERFECT QUALITY – Began awkwardly. DIVINE COURAGE – Began awkwardly, losing ground. Jockey A Allen was fined $200 for using his whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). TEE AMICI – Jockey T Brooker could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Lost its off front plate in running. EXPRESSO LOVE – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.
