FOGGY DEW – Began awkwardly. For a considerable distance in the middle stages, whilst over racing was buffeted between runners when racing in restricted room. Hung out from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities.

RUSSIAN QUEEN – Near the 400m, when attempting to shift out to improve, was bumped on the hind quarters and as a result became unbalanced.

ZAFARANA – Raced keenly in the middle stages and as a result was steadied from heels on a number of occasions.

WANDILLA – After being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1100m.

MONTANA MAY – Began awkwardly losing ground.

Race 4: WARNER BROS. MOVIE WORLD OPEN Handicap 1100 metres

TAVISAN – Began awkwardly, losing ground. When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey L Dittman advised that he had anticipated leading the event however when the gelding was fractious in the barriers just prior to the start being affected, this resulted in it losing ground at the start and therefore settling further back in the field than anticipated. Jockey Dittman advised that in his opinion racing in a rearward position was the major contributing factor to the below market expectation performance as the gelding travelled comfortably during the event and returned to scale with no apparent issues that he could detect. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion to the off hind leg. A swab sample was taken.

SAY HAYA – Near the 200m, was momentarily steadied from heels.

SVINDAL – Slow to begin.

Race 5: TOPGOLF BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1100 metres

DAWN ISSUE – Declared a late scratching at 1:30pm by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice.

PHOENIX RIVER – Near the 900m, forced wider by another runner and as a consequence, was forced to race three-wide for the remainder of the event.

SALAD DODGER – Slow to begin. For some distance in the middle stages, raced ungenerously whilst being restrained.

SHINSHINTO – After being crossed near the 1000m, commenced to over race and as a result near the 900m, shifted out abruptly and in doing so forced PHOENIX RIVER wider on the track. Stewards advised jockey Bayliss that whilst acknowledging that SHINSHINTO was over racing at that point of the race, he would be expected to show greater care in similar circumstances in the future when shifting ground abruptly. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, trainer D Murphy advised that he was satisfied with the performance of the horse when racing first up at Ipswich two starts ago. He added that the gelding’s last start when racing second up from a spell, it was stepping up in distance from 800m to 1200m which he felt was the major contributing factor to it tiring over the concluding stages of that event. Mr Murphy went on to state that with the fitness benefit of racing third up from a spell today, in addition to stepping slightly back in distance to 1100m he had expected a vastly improved performance in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.

GO DARCY – Slow to begin.

SPILL THE DIAMONDS – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.

Race 6: WET'N'WILD Class 5 Handicap 1350 metres

The start was delayed initially to allow the broadcast of an interstate event. The start was further delayed when BATTLE THROUGH proved difficult to load.

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to review the patrol footage to determine if a protest should be lodged on behalf of the connections of the second placed BROOK HILL. Having reviewed the footage, stewards elected not to lodge any objection.

SO DAPPER – As the gelding had not raced in a period exceeding 12 months, it was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the event and subsequently passed suitable to race. Laid in during the middle stages.

THATFRIDAYFEELING – Began awkwardly, losing ground.

BATTLE THROUGH – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained near the 900m.

CHEVY NOVA – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, was checked to avoid the heels of SO DAPPER which shifted in when not completely clear. Jockey C Robertson, the rider of SO DAPPER will be advised a reprimand will be issued against him in relation to this incident.

Race 7: PARADISE COUNTRY Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 1200 metres

KINGSTAR AMBER – Raced three-wide without cover for the majority.

NOT ANOTHER – Over raced in the middle stages.

Race 8: AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHMARK 62 1200 metres

DEBUSSY – Apprentice J Cornish was reminded of her obligations with respect to excessively reducing the tempo of the event near the 900m, which resulted in a number of runners receiving indirect interference when forced to steady to avoid heels.

ROCKIN' ARTIE – When the pace of the race steadied near the 900m, improved onto heels and was steadied.

WUDDACUDDASHUDDA – When the pace of the race steadied near the 900m, improved onto heels and was steadied.

THAT'S A MIRACLE – When the pace of the race steadied near the 900m, improved onto heels and was steadied.
