Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting-

As Apprentice E Macpherson was ill, she was replaced as per the steward’s summary. Apprentice Macpherson was advised that she will require a medical clearance prior to next riding.
 
RACE 1: 2023 SUMMER CARNIVAL ON SALE FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN
HANDICAP 1200 METRES
 
CASTACONI – Raced in restricted room for a short distance shortly after the start.
 
STEAL THE FIELD – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages and raced greenly throughout. Passing the 100m, when awkwardly placed at the heels of another runner, was forced to shift in.
 
LA FEMME DE FORTE – For a considerable distance in the home straight was inclined to shift in and away from RAPID OUTLAW which was laying in.
 
RAPID OUTLAW – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, momentarily raced in restricted room and was eased. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SOUNDS DIVINE – Slow into stride.
 
GOLD PREMIUM – Raced in restricted room in the early stages and lost ground.
 
CRYSTALLIZATION – Tightened on jumping. Near the 350m, when commencing to weaken, was placed in restricted room and eased.
 
RACE 2: ALLSTARS SPORTS LUNCH SAT 26 NOV COLTS, GELDINGS &
ENTIRES MAIDEN HAND 1200 METRES
 
The start of this race was delayed when a number of runners proved difficult to load.
 
ZESTY BOY – When being restrained in the early stages, was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed at heels.
 
SURCOTE – Raced three-wide with cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BARONIAL – Bumped on jumping. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance. Raced keenly during the middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
HE'S THE KING – Jockey M Hellyer reported that it was not his intention to race in a rearward position, however after being caught wide in the early stages, he elected to restrain to a position with cover closer to the rail.
 
JOE MAMA – Began awkwardly.
 
ROCKED – Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m, was bumped on the hind quarters, shifted out and became unbalanced for a short distance. Cast its near hind plate in running.
 
SUBSTANCE – Bumped on jumping. Near the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance. Raced three-wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
BRAMBLE BAY – Raced in restricted room near the 1000m.
 
RACE 3: XH CONSTRUCTION CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1700 METRES
 
FIGHTING COMMANDO – Over raced during the middle stages.
 
DIASONIC – Near the 1550m, tightened for room, checked and lost ground when racing to the inside of FIGHTING COMMANDO which shifted in whilst hanging in despite the efforts of its rider. Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
DARING MAN – Began awkwardly losing ground. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.
 
HONOUR ME – Slow to begin.
 
RACE 4: MB CIVIL CONTRACTING RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP
1700 METRES
 
HARVESTA – Laid in under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
JIMMY THE TULIP – Jockey R Fradd reported that the gelding raced very one paced in today’s event and in his opinion would benefit by a step up in distance for its races at this stage in its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
VOLUNTEER – Began awkwardly. Jockey N Callow reported that over the concluding stages the gelding felt short in its action and was reluctant to fully stretch out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
RACE 5: BELLINGHAM MARINE QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 METRES
 
REBEL MAX – Hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer H Norman was advised that he would be required to obtain a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to it next racing.
 
BOCHKAREVA – Blundered on jumping.
 
 
RACE 6: TOTAL CONCEPT GROUP QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1100 METRES
 
MAGURO – Stewards exceeded to a request from trainer S Morrisey for Apprentice Y Lewis to only claim 0.5kg of her allowance to allow her to ride the gelding, which was having its first race start in a larger saddle. Slow to begin.
 
SIDESTEP ME – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
GREENSLEEVES – Slow to begin.
 
MISHANI SUNSHINE – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Cast its near hind plate in running.
 
UNIQUE ELLE – Raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early stages.
 
TUBTHUMPER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey M Hellyer was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii).
 
RACE 7: CLADDING CREATIONS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1100 METRES
 
CELESTIAL SOL – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BOHO BEAUTY – Whilst being loaded into the barriers, made heavy contact with the outside rail. This incident was observed by the veterinary surgeon who was satisfied for the mare to take her place in the event. Jockey A Mallyon could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the mare. Co-trainer Mr Toby Edmonds advised as the mare was racing first up from a spell, it would derive a significant fitness advantage from todays run, however beyond this he was unable to explain the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr Edmonds undertook to advise stewards in the days subsequent to todays event should any abnormalities become present that could have affected the mare’s performance.
 
VIENNA EMPRESS – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, momentarily steadied to avoid heels.
 
LADY SHANGHAI – Raced three-wide with cover throughout.
 
COUNTESS TESSA – Trainer B Healey was fined $200 for the late rider notification of L Allen. LR67. Slow to begin.
 
MYSTERIOUS ART – Near the 900m, momentarily steadied to avoid heels. Raced three-wide without cover throughout.

 
RACE 8: ALDER CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1300 METRES
 
BROOK HILL – Steadied from heels near the 900m.
 
DERBARI – Held up for a considerable distance rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SIENNA'S AWARD – Raced three-wide without cover throughout.
 
OKALANI – After being crossed near the 900m, was steadied from heels. Held up rounding the home turn. Jockey R Fradd was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance of the mare, other than it may be better suited when able to take up a leading position in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a poor post-race recovery.
 
DAWN ISSUE – Jockey L Dittman reported that the gelding travelled comfortably during the early and middle stages, however when placed under pressure, failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
 
RACE 9: GPS FORMWORK CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350 METRES
 
WICKED’N’ LOVIN’IT – Declared a late scratching at 7:52am for reasons deemed acceptable by stewards.
 
NOBLE CAT – Bumped on jumping.
 
STYLE SEEKER – Jumped in the air just prior to the start being affected and lost ground.
 
I AM A BEAUTY – After being caught wide, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 800m.
 
HOT BANANAS – When commencing to weaken near the 150m, was placed in restricted room and eased.
 
EL ASTEROID – Began awkwardly, bumping another runner.
