G Anderson, S MallyonVeterinarian – Dr R Partridge Swab Attendants – L BobeszkoStarter – S Marr GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting- Race 2- REEL WILD- J Guthmann-Chester- +1kgRace 2- PSYCHIC ROSE- M Hellyer- +1kg.Race 3- LUCAMOUR- A Allen +1/2kg Race 6- MINTO’S PARADISE- N Callow +1/2kg Race 1: 2023 SUMMER CARNIVAL ON SALE Maiden Handicap 900 metres MS THORPEDO – When presenting to race, reared over in the tie up stalls and as a consequence suffered a significant injury. Due to the extent of the injury suffered to the mare, it was subsequently euthanised on humane grounds. Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 12:24pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on MS THORPEDO be refunded with the following deductions to apply- 1st – 0c the win, 0c the place2nd – 2c the place3rd – 2c the place As a result of this delay the starting time of this event was amended to 12:45pm. ITSA VARIATION – Slow to begin. MISS DAURIAN – Bumped and became unbalanced near the 700m. POET'S DAY – Bumped heavily at the start. Raced greenly during the early stages. PAKETTA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Jockey T See was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). CHAYSE 'N' MENARI – Bumped heavily at the start. Jockey J Taylor was reprimanded for using his whip on 15 occasions in totality. AR132(5). PEROVSKAYA – Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 700m. Race 2: REVELSTONE STUD Maiden Plate 1700 metres The starting time of this event was amended to 1:14pm. DESPARADO – Over raced and proved difficult to restrain during the early and middle stages. IL TORO D'ORO – Began awkwardly. Jockey C Robertson was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the event. JAKAT – Over raced and proved difficult to restrain during the early and middle stages. Hung out rounding the home turn. Jockey N Callow was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). REEL WILD – Momentarily raced in restricted room approaching the 100m. ROYAL RIFT – Put in an awkward stride and became unbalanced approaching the crossing near the 1600m. Apprentice C Collis was reprimanded for using his whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m. AR132(7)(a)(ii). PSYCHIC ROSE – Made the home turn awkwardly in attempting to shift out to secure clear running. Race 3: RICHARD ATTWOOD Class 1 Handicap 1700 metres EMBOLDEN – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground. PEDAL TO THE METAL – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight. JAZZ – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. Near the 1600m, was steadied from heels and a short distance later was forced wider on the track by another runner. MARNIE'S STAR – Tightened for room at the start. After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain the leading position near the 1400m. LYNDALL – Jumped in at the start, making contact with another runner and as a result became unbalanced. LUCAMOUR – After being caught wide in the early stages, was allowed to stride forward by its rider to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1400m. Following the running of race three, the track was upgraded to a good 3.Race 4: BOB MARSHALL BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres FISH ON – Raced three-wide without cover throughout. HOT PROFIT – Slow to begin. LA PETITE MISSILE – Began awkwardly. OKAY OKAY – Leaving the 1000m, momentarily raced in restricted room and was eased. TOP BIRD – Laid out under pressure in the home straight. Race 5: MATES4LIFE QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350 metres HOBSY – Raced keenly in the early stages. OUR HEART THROB – Slow into stride. Jockey R Fradd could offer no tangible explanation for the below market expectation performance. PURTELL PARK – Trainer D Bougoure was fined $100 for the late rider notification. In assessing penalty Stewards were mindful of Mr Bougoure’s recent good record in relation to this rule. LR67(1)Laid in during the middle stages. Checked to avoid heels near the 100m. At a subsequent inquiry, jockey M Hellyer pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under provisions of AR131(a) in that as the rider of SPRINGHURST he permitted that runner to shift out when insufficiently clear of PURTELL PARK which was checked to avoid heels. OLYMPIC MOTTO, which was following, was consequently forced to check to avoid the heels of PURTELL PARK. In assessing penalty stewards were mindful that jockey Hellyer had not faced a charge of careless riding for in the vicinity of 1000 race rides spanning a period of 2 years, and as a consequence bearing in mind these factors in addition to jockey Hellyer’s guilty plea, stewards elected to only issue a reprimand against jockey Hellyer. SHORES OF GOLD – Approaching the 1200m, placed in restricted room and eased. AFFECTIONATE – Slow into stride. Raced keenly in the early stages. Jockey A Allen reported that after being slow to begin the filly raced keenly for a short distance in the early stages, however from this point failed to travel strongly at any stage and in his opinion proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. OLYMPIC MOTTO – Leaving the 100m, was checked to avoid the heels of another runner. Race 6: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS Class 6 Handicap1300 metres SNOWFIRE – Raced in restricted room in the early stages before being restrained by its rider passing the 1200m. MINTO'S PARADISE – Began very awkwardly, making heavy contact with the barrier partition. In this incident, jockey Callow lost the use of his offside stirrup before he was able to regather it approximately 100m after the start. BUSHIDO – Began awkwardly resulting in jockey A Allen becoming unbalanced. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Race 7: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS Class 3 Handicap1300 metres BEAN FOGGY – Hampered at the start. PHILLY SPECIAL – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. COSMO KRAMER – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground. FORGET ROMANCE – Jockey N Callow reported that in his opinion the mare race flat in today’s event. Race 8: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS RATINGS BAND 0 – 58 Handicap 1350 metres AGENT OF MAYHEM – Began awkwardly, losing ground. Raced keenly in the early stages and as a result had to be steadied from heels on a number of occasions. Laid in throughout. PERNELL – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight. THINK I'M DREAMING – Cast its off fore plate in running.
