QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOLD COAST TURF CLUB AQUIS PARK GOLD COAST – SATURDAY 5 NOVEMBER 2022 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 4/ GOOD 3 FOLLOWING RACE 3 RAIL – 2M 1800M-350M; TRUE REMAINDER PENETROMETER – 4.52 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – R Hitchener Stewards – S Coulthard, J CreminClerk of Scales – B ConnellJudge – S McMahon, G Anderson, S MallyonVeterinarian – N.GaskellSwab Attendants –K. Kilpatrick, L. BobeszkoStarter – K Watson GENERAL Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting- Race 5- CAPITAL GIRL- R Wiggins- +1kg. Race 1: TRADELINK: PLUMBING MADE EASY Maiden Handicap 900 metres PRETTY AS – Reared at the start resulting in jockey Ms L Allen being dislodged. Following the event jockey Allen was examined by the ambulance officials and was cleared of any injury. A warning was issued against the barrier manners of PRETTY AS. WHATTHA – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m, whilst racing keenly was steadied to avoid heels. CALICO COUNTY – Began awkwardly. MAJESTIC FAME – Slow to begin. Near the 150m, steadied when awkwardly placed at heels. On returning to scale jockey N Callow expressed his disappointment in the performance of the mare which he advised didn’t quicken as he expected in the home straight. PRESSURE AND TIME – Hampered on jumping. Near the 800m clipped heels and blundered when MAGESTIC FAME shifted in and away from YANKEE BLOSSOM after being taken in slightly by that runner. Jockey T Booker rider of YANKEE BLOSSOM was advised to show greater care under similar circumstances. THELMA THE UNICORN– Raced wide throughout. WARRIORESS - Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Cast its near hind plate in running. Race 2: TRADEPEX: QUICK AS LIGHTNING QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres Start was delayed initially to allow the broadcast of an interstate event. The start was further delayed when NAUGHTY WORDS proved difficult to load. CRAIGLEA AGENA – Slow to begin. Over-raced in the early stages and was steadied off heels for some distance near the 800m. Improved onto the heels at the 400m and shifted out abruptly. STILL READY – Steadied when placed in restricted room near the 600m. Bumped and forced wider near the 400m. NAUGHTY WORDS - Bumped and forced wider near the 400m. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester expressed disappointment in the performance of the filly however noted that racing greenly throughout the event in his opinion was the contributing factor to the poor performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Race 3: TRADELINK: PRECISION IN PLUMBING BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1100 metres AVENUE OF STARS- Raced 3 wide without cover for the majority. BORN A WARRIOR - Raced 3 wide with cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: TRADELINK: THE PLUMBERS CRACK RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1200 metres Track was upgraded to a good 3 following the running of race 3. DRATINI -Jumped in air at start. Raced wide throughout. Lost its off-fore plate in running. FASTLING - Blundered on jumping. Shortly after the start bumped by another runner and became unbalanced. STAR SEEKER – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. MANDO ROCK - Began awkwardly losing ground. BEN HUR - Hung out from the 600m proving difficult to ride out. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer P Kimmet was advised a warning would be issued against the geldings racing manners. Race 5: TRADELINK: PIPE DREAMS Maiden Plate 1200 metres MAGURO – Stood flat footed at the start and lost ground. ALPINE ACE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. THE SICILLIAN BOY – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Over raced in the early stages. CAPITAL GIRL– Raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Jockey R Wiggins accidently dropped his whip near the 50m. Race 6: TRADELINK: ALL CISTERNS GO OPEN Handicap1350 metres Due to Jockey N Callow being treated by the ambulance officials the remaining races were put back 1 time slot with race eight due to run at 5:33pm. DERULO - When questioned in relation to the below market expectation performance jockey J Guthmann-Chester reported that the gelding travelled comfortably during the event however when placed under the pressure from the 500m the gelding failed to respond as he had anticipated and proved disappointing. Jockey J Guthmann-Chester also reported the gelding was not suited by the firm racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Swab samples were also taken. LORD MARKEL - Near the 1300m was steadied when placed in restricted room when PARKO shifted in when not completely clear. B Ainsworth the rider of PARKO was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Jockey K Zechner reported the gelding was not suited by the firm racing surface. SEE IT THRU - Jockey T Brooker was reprimanded for using her whip excessively during the event, that being on 15 occasions. AR132(5). BROOK HILL – Slow into stride. Jockey R Fradd reported the gelding was not suited by the firm racing surface. Race 7: TRADELINK: DRAIN SURGEON'S Class 2 Handicap1350 metres HE KNOWS - Reared at start losing ground. SUMNAMILLA – Over raced in the early stages. DERBARI - As jockey N Callow was indisposed, he was replaced as the rider of the gelding by R Wiggins. Jockey R Wiggins reported the gelding was not suited by the firm racing surface. Race 8: TRADELINK: BATHROOM KITCHEN LAUNDRY Class 1 Handicap 1700 metres NAUGHTY HARRY – Shifted in on jumping bumping another runner. Approaching the 900m improved onto heels and shifted wider onto the track. As a consequence, raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the race. EMBOLDEN - Raced keenly in the middle stages. BARONIAL- Approaching the 900m whilst racing keenly improved onto heels and was steadied. ALIGHT THE NIGHT - Jockey J Murphy reported that he was instructed to ride the mare with cover if circumstances permit. Jockey J Murphy advised however that on jumping he began in advance of BARONIAL which was drawn to his inside and therefore he would have had to overly restrain the gelding in an endeavour to obtain cover as instructed prior to the event. Jockey J Murphy added that from soon after the start when it appeared he would be caught 3 wide he elected to allow ALIGHT THE NIGHT to stride forward to obtain the leading position rather than covering extra ground. Stewards noted the explanation. ANGEL GRACE - Bumped on jumping losing ground. Approaching the 900m whilst racing keenly improved onto heels and was steadied. Approaching the 200m was placed in restricted room and eased. TWIGMAN - Slow to begin. LAYLA OF MONACO - Rounding the home turn was disappointed for a run and as a result was forced to shift to the inside to secure clear running.
