Cahill +0.5kg (55kg) Race 1: THANK YOU GCTC MEMBERS CLASS 1 PLATE 1000M HOSTWIN CROWN – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight. JACKSON ON TIME – Began awkwardly and lost ground. CONEY ISLAND BABY – Raced wide throughout. AWARD ME – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Apprentice S. Callow dropped her whip near the 150m. MISS ZERMATT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight. SCREAM QUEEN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving late on course and was passed to start. ROSE NOIR – Raced wide throughout. Hung out throughout the event. Apprentice E. Lang reported the filly may be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer’s representative was advised the filly would have to perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in an Official trial prior to next racing. GERTANIE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after arriving late on course and was passed to start. Race 2: PHOENIX TRANSPORT & DISTRIBUTION MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100M ALAKAI SWAMP – Began awkwardly, then bumped shortly after with MORE FOR READY. ROCK COMPOSER – Near the 800m, steadied when tightened by MILEY’S MEMORY, which was taken in by CHAYSE’N’ THE KING (A. Thompson). Jockey A. Thompson was advised to exercise greater care. Jockey B. Loy reported the gelding, which was having its first race start, would take benefit from today’s performance. SISTINE CHAPEL – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced near the 600m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. KISSED BY EVIE – Slow into stride. Held up from the 500m until approaching the 300m. MORE FOR READY – Bumped on jumping. Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground. Jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer M. Morrison was advised the filly would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. MILEY'S MEMORY – After consideration was given for racing being conducted a new surface, the explanation tendered by jockey M. Cahill for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, was accepted. VERALISE – Shifted in on jumping, bumping MORE FOR READY before being corrected by rider W. D’Avila and settling further back than expected. Approaching the 600m, became awkward in its action, badly unbalanced and shifted out around the heels of SPECIALTIE, inconveniencing SISTINE CHAPEL. SPECIALTIE – Raced wide throughout. DECEPTIVE (NZ) – Raced wide throughout. Following the running of race 2, the track was upgraded to a good 4. Race 3: THANK YOU MINISTER GRACE GRACE CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200M BELLA BABE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not racing for an extended period and was passed to start. LAST CHANCE SALOON – Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. CAVAUP – Held up from the 500m until approaching the 300m. Jockey B. Loy reported his mount may be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. PANGAEA – Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. BARBARY ROYALE – Jockey M. Murphy reported his mount was reluctant to stride out and may be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. BULLET FORCE – Over raced in the early and middle stages. Race 4: LUCKY CLOVER THOROUGHBREDS BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1200M MOONAN ME – When racing keenly approaching the 600m, steadied from the heels of ANDONISEA, shifted out and inconvenienced ARISTELLA. ADONISEA – Held up for a run from approaching and passing the 400m. FENTON – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. SHINSHINTO – Raced wide without cover for the majority. FRAPPES – Jockey M. Hellyer reported his mount laid out for majority of the race whilst racing keenly in the lead. JUKEBOX IN SIBERIA – Raced wide throughout. ARISTELLA – Inconvenienced passing the 600m. Apprentice T. Fenlon reported from the wide gate, she was asked to find cover, however; the filly did not travel and got further back than intended. REFORMIST – Near the 500m, steadied from the heels of SURCOTE. Held up for a run from the 250m until approaching the 150m. ZOUPERB – Held up for a run from approaching the 400m until near the 300m. SURCOTE – Jockey R. Wiggins reported his mount would be better suited to tracks with more give. KOBENHAVN – Began awkwardly. Following the running of race 4, the track was upgraded to a good 3. Race 5: THANK YOU STEVE WILSON & RACING QUEENSLAND MAIDEN HANDICAP 1700M READY FOR VEGAS – Jockey W. D’Avila reported the gelding, which was having its first race start, felt awkward in its action throughout the race and didn’t respond to his riding when under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer I. Turner was advised the gelding would have to perform to the satisfaction of Stewards in an Official trial prior to next racing. VERMEER – Raced wide without cover throughout. Apprentice J. Franklin reported the gelding was not suited to racing wide without cover and may be looking for races over longer distances. FIRST TO MARS – Began awkwardly. BEASTICON – Jockey A. Allen was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the finish of the race, where possible. CAPE CRUSADER – Raced tight over the concluding stages. KOTONI – Raced tight over the concluding stages. GLENISLA – Jockey J. Taylor reported his mount was disappointing and may have been feeling the track. SWITZERLAND SUN – Slow into stride. After making the crossing near the 1500m, steadied when tight to the inside of PLEADEEL, which was racing tight to the inside GLENISLA. VACATION LEAVE – After consideration was given for racing being conducted a new surface, the explanation tendered by jockey R. Wiggins for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, was accepted. Race 6: THANK YOU GOLD COAST RACING FRATERNITY CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1400M VENDIDIT – Awkwardly placed at the heels of CORFE CASTLE over the concluding stages. MY PINS (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after contacting the gate leaving the enclosure and was passed to start. PICKO ROCKS – Slow to begin. After consideration was given for racing being conducted a new surface, the explanation tendered by jockey E. Chaves for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, was accepted. Jockey E. Chaves was reminded of his obligations regarding the raising of his whip arm above shoulder height. JAC THE GREAT – Late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 1:41pm after being injured in transportation to the track. Trainer E. Hayes was advised the mare would require a veterinary certificate prior to next racing. HOT PROFIT –Raced keenly in the middle stages. Race 7: SEE CIVIL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1400M VANTASTIC – Began awkwardly. ROCKIN' ARTIE – After consideration was given for racing being conducted a new surface, the explanation tendered by apprentice Y. Lewis for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, was accepted. SPIRIT OF BEANS – Held up in the early stages of the home straight. ALL THE SHOPS – When racing keenly near the 1000m, shifted out when close to the heels of HELLO IN THERE. Raced wide throughout. Laid out in the middle stages and when rounding the home turn. DO IT FOR YOU – Laid out rounding the home turn. HULKAMANIA – Raced wide without cover throughout. INDENTED HEAD – Raced wide throughout. HELLO IN THERE – Raced wide throughout.
