SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Doomben 30/12/23 – Trainers’ representative for the T. Gollan stable advised that SELF INDULGENT which competed in race 10 had a minor laceration to the near hind leg however the gelding 1had pulled up well and they may give consideration to trialling the horse prior to its next start.
 
 
GENERAL
As jockey R. Maloney was indisposed, rider changes were made as per the Meeting Summary Report. Jockey Maloney was advised that he will require a medical clearance prior to riding again.
 
 
Race 1: AQUIS THE HOME OF 2YO SPEED BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP 2200 Metres
 
TAPPY'S LAD (NZ) – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that the gelding will be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Settled in a midfield position.
 
SOUTHERN STOCK (NZ) – Raced three wide in the early and middle stages until being permitted to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader leaving the 1100m. Jockey M. Harley was fined $300 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted.
 
READILY AVAILABULL – Laid out passing the 450m.
 
CARBONETTI (IRE) – Jockey J. Orman reported that the gelding had a tendency to lay in over final 1000m.
 
DENILIQUIN – Slow to begin. Near the 1600m, steadied from heels when the pace of the race slackened. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind consistent with being galloped on.
 
SIR LORD – Began awkwardly.
 
BADER – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
YOUTHFULL – Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
DROP THE PILOT – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 400m when had to be steadied from the heels of SIR LORD when that runner shifted out to improve. Jockey S. Cormack, rider of SIR LORD, was advised to exercise more care. 
 
CONTRERAS – Fractious in the barriers. As the start was effected, the gelding turned its head into the adjoining barrier stall and lost considerable ground. Co-trainers D. and M Scanes were advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the gelding.
 
Race 2: AQUIS GOLD NUGGET 2YO COLTS AND GELDINGS 1100 Metres
 
BEAU DAZZLER (NZ) – Co-trainers T. & M. Sears were reprimanded pursuant to AR194 for presenting the colt late into the mounting enclosure. Began awkwardly. Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
DEFIANT BOOM – Raced in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 600m.
 
BALASTIER – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages and proved difficult to settle. Forced wider from the 700m by DEFIANT BOOM which shifted outwards to improve. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
MISHANI BURN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
Race 3: AQUIS GOLD PEARL 2YO FILLIES 1100 Metres
 
ARABIAN SUMMER – Shifted outwards shortly after the start and bumped MISHANI EXPRESS.
 
MISHANI EGO – Began awkwardly.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
MISHANI CROWN – Laid out rounding the home turn. Jockey S. Collet dropped her whip near the 150m.
 
AQUATEMPO – Shifted in on jumping.
 
MOULIN MISS – Began awkwardly.

 
Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres
 
CAPITAL CHASE – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced keenly in the early stages. Leaving the 800m, commenced to over race, improved onto the heels of FIVE STAR VIXEN and had to be checked.
 
JINSOKU – Raced greenly in the early stages. Over raced during the middle stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.  
 
PAYLINE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 600m, improved onto heels and shifted wider.
 
ASSEMBLE – Connections advised of a change of tactics in that the gelding will settle further forward if circumstances permit. Fractious in the barriers. After being slow to begin, settled midfield. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, jockey J. Orman could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. Trainer’s representative B. Killion reported that the gelding is better suited over further distances than today’s event and he will report back to Stewards on the condition of ASSEMBLE if anything comes to light regarding today’s performance
 
BONITA QUEEN – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
FIND MY CALM – Raced greenly rounding the home turn and had difficulty obtaining running on entering the home straight.
 
FIVE STAR VIXEN – Bumped shortly after the start. Over raced during the middle stages. Passing the 1000m, raced in restricted room for a short distance to the inside of SHENZHEN PRINCESS.   Shortly thereafter approaching the 800m, was restrained from the heels of SHENZHEN PRINCESS which shifted in to obtain a two wide position. Commenced to over race for a short distance thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
LIZZIE'S GEM – Began awkwardly.
 
PURE PARADISE – Shifted in shortly after the start and bumped FIVE STAR VIXEN, then became awkward between runners and had to be eased. Held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SHENZHEN PRINCESS – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Co-trainer Mr W. Hulbert was advised that SHENZHEN PRINCESS will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
STARMAE – Fractious in the barriers. Raced wide throughout.
 
CRYPTIC SOUND – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: INVADER AT AQUIS QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1200 Metres
 
KESALUL – Raced wide throughout.
 
ACRES AWAY – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after arrival at the barriers and was cleared to start. At scale, jockey M. Rodd reported that the gelding did not feel comfortable in its action. Underwent a post race veterinary examination which revealed a poor post race recovery. Trainer T. Smith was advised that ACRES AWAY will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
SOO SWEET – Approaching the 100m, raced in restricted room between KESALUL and MISHANI ROYALE.
 
TOWN CRIER – Shifted out at the start and bumped GLASS OF ROSE. Raced keenly during the early stages. Raced in restricted room leaving the 1000m to the inside of SOO SWEET. Continued to over race in the middle stages. Lost the off fore and near hind plates in running.
 
CERTAINLYCAN – After refusing to load, CERTAINLYCAN was declared a late late scratching at the barriers at 3.15pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on CERTAINLYCAN be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st DEFIANT SPIRIT 33c win, 21c place
2nd BETTERLETMEDANCE 23c place
3rd KESALUL 21c place

Trainer Mr T. Gollan was advised that CERTAINLYCAN must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
ARISTELLA – Very slow to begin.
 
BETTERLETMEDANCE – Raced wide throughout.
 
GLASS OF ROSE – Bumped at the start.
 
BERNICE'S SPIRIT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 6: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE  1400 Metres
 
DIMITROV – Raced wide throughout. Near the 900m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of SEA OF LIGHTS which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey H. Coffey, rider of SEA OF LIGHTS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Rider C. Williams reported that from the wide gate he had to make use of the gelding to obtain a forward position and with the application of blinkers on for the first time raced keenly and as a consequence did not finish the race off as expected. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
MEGA FIGHT – Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight. Approaching the 100m became awkwardly placed on the heels of SEA OF LIGHTS and had to shift out.
 
MYSTIC MAC – Raced wide throughout.
 
NICCONIUM – After becoming cast in the barriers was declared a late scratching at 3.54pm. NICCONIUM was declared a late scratching at 3.54pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on NICCONIUM be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st VANQUISHED 4c win, 5c place
2nd PASIMA 5c place
3rd SURREAL I AM 7c place

Trainer’s representative for the A. Neasham stable, Mr T. Pollard was advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance and must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. 
 
PASIMA – Had difficulty obtaining clear running on entering the home straight.
 
SOLOMON'S RULE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SURREAL I AM – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until inside the 200m.
 
WYMARK (NZ) – Had difficulty obtaining clear running for a number of strides passing the 100m.
 
CHAYSE'N' THE KING – Held up for clear running from the early stages of the home straight until approaching the 100m.
 
GIGI FILLE – Slow to begin. Passing the 400m, brushed the running rail when attempting to improve into a run to the inside of MEGA FIGHT.
 
ROLLING ROCK – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 400m, momentarily inconvenienced when having to avoid the heels of the weakening MYSTIC MAC.
 
SEA OF LIGHTS – Coffey – Raced wide throughout.
 
CASANOVA MAN (NZ) – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after NICCONIUM became cast in the adjoining barrier, and was cleared to start.
 
Race 7: THE TAB WAVE 1800 Metres
 
THE VOWELS – Raced wide until the 1200m. Shortly after entering the home straight had its hindquarters turned when ZOE’S PROMISE attempted to improve into a run when not sufficiently clear. Jockey T. Clark was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. When questioned regarding THE VOWELS leading the event, jockey J. Orman reported that after being caught wide early he allowed his mount to stride forward and take up a leading position.
 
TAPILDOODLEDO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider M. Du Plessis advised that his saddle shifted backwards on jumping placing him at some disadvantage throughout the event.
 
CHAYSE 'N' ARTIE – Rider S. Cormack reported that his mount made the crossing awkwardly.
 
SACRED MISSION (NZ) – Shortly after entering the home straight, had its hindquarters turned when bumped by ZOE’S PROMISE. Jockey C. Williams reported that he had to make use of the gelding in the early stages to lead, however SACRED MISSION may have been found wanting with the step up in class. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ULTIMATE OUTCOME – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground. Trainer S. Kendrick was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of ULTIMATE OUTCOME.  
 
 
MADAME ODETTE – A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow post race recovery.  
 
TYRESA – After refusing to load, TYRESA was declared a late scratching at the barriers at 4.35pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets placed on TYRESA be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st ARTS OBJECT 0c win, 2c place
2nd ENCODER 1c place
3rd AIN’T HE GRAND 2c place
 
Trainer Mr K. Schweida was advised that TYRESA must barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
ARTS OBJECT – When asked to comment on the above market performance, trainer K. Goldman advised Stewards that he had expected a forward showing from the mare. He added that in his opinion, ARTS OBJECT had benefited from the addition of visors to its race gear for the first time.
 
ZOE'S PROMISE – Held up for clear running passing the 500m. On entering the home straight, attempted to improve into a run where there was insufficient room to do so between THE VOWELS and SACRED MISSION, and as a result became unbalanced for a number of strides. Approaching the 200m, when racing in restricted room, again had to be steadied after SACRED MISSION rolled out marginally and THE VOWELS rolled in marginally.
 
OLD SONG – Slow to begin.
 
Race 8: MAGIC MILLIONS RISING STARS 3YO & 4YO FILLIES & MARES CLASS 4 PLATE  1300 Metres
 
EN POINTE – Near the 1000m, had to be steadied from the heels of ESSEFFNINETY when that runner was eased when racing in restricted room.
 
MAID TO FIT – Near the 1100m, eased when HEROIC MISS crossed to a position closer to the running rail when not fully clear. Apprentice C. Graham, rider of HEROIC MISS, was advised to allow greater racing room in future.
 
SIZZLING GAL – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
EXTESSIVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
HELLAVADANCER – Passing the 200m, whilst weakening, raced in restricted room for a number of strides.
 
TSARINA SOPHIA – Raced wide throughout.
 
ESSEFFNINETY – Approaching the 1000m, raced in restricted room to the inside of MAID TO FIT when that runner laid in and away from HELLAVADANCER. Jockey M. Zahra, rider of HELLAVADANCER, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. 
 
JUNQUEIRA – Raced wide throughout.  
 
LATAKIA – Slow to begin.
 
MISSION OF LOVE – Slow to begin. Passing the 900m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 600m.
 
SHE MINE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SUNSET DREAMING – Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
VEANDECHANCE – Approaching the 100m, obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of the weakening HELLAVADANCER.
 
SHOTGUN DIVA – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 9: MAGIC MILLIONS RISING STARS 3YO & 4YO COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 4 PLATE      1300 Metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to review the race footage of the start after it was ascertained that DAYTONA had contacted the front barrier partitions prior to the start being effected. Stewards were satisfied that no advantage had been obtained and declared correct weight on the judge’s semaphored numbers.  
 
STANDING ORDER – Raced wide throughout.
 
SHA OF GOMER – Raced wide throughout. Passing the 50m, obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of WOWIT’S WILLYWONKA which shifted out abruptly. Jockey J. Orman reported that his mount travelled well in the early and middle stages but was trapped wide, however when asked for an effort in the home straight, was disappointing in its finishing efforts. Trainer’s representative Mr B. Killion advised that on face value it was a disappointing performance and it was the stables intention to have the gelding vetted by the stable veterinarian and will report back to Stewards anything that may come to light in the coming days.
 
SILENTSAR – Obliged to shift wider passing the 250m to avoid the heels of TARPS, which shifted out under pressure.
 
STORM THE FORTRESS – Passing the 250m, obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of SILENTSAR when that horse shifted wider. Approaching the 100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BAROQUE ROAD which shifted out marginally and STANDING ORDER which laid in under pressure. Jockey M. Rodd reported that his mount was inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.  
 
WARBY – Slow to begin and hampered shortly after.  
 
BOOM SHOT – Restrained from the wide barrier to take up a position closer to the rail. Passing the 100m, obliged to shift wider to avoid the heels of the weakening SILENTSAR.
 
DAYTONA – Contacted the barrier partition as the start was effected.
 
JOHN RAMBO – Raced wide throughout.
 
LAVISH EMPIRE – Passing the 200m, was momentarily held up for clear running and inside the 100m was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
MERIDIUS – Began awkwardly. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight.  
 
TORQUE I TEE – Lost the near fore plate in running.
 
TARPS – Shifted out abruptly at the start.
 
WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA – Approaching the 800m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of BAROQUE ROAD which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Rider J. Mott was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in relation to this incident.
