Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 9. M. Rodd (TRIFLING) +0.5kg
 
 
Race 1: CANADIAN CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1800 Metres
 
PICADOR – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Rider J. Stanley reported that his mount resented the kickback and may not have appreciated the firm track conditions.
 
AMADI (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Bruce was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.  
 
FLASH PRINCE – Over raced during the early stages and became awkward at heels approaching the 1600m. Raced in restricted room entering the home straight to the inside of DIVAZINO which shifted in marginally.
 
JOE MAMA (NZ) – Passing the 600m jumped a shadow on the track.
 
DIVAZINO (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  
 
HEREDITARY (NZ) – Jumped in at the start and bumped heavily with PLAIMONT. A short distance later shifted out and bumped POWER GLIDER.
 
PLAIMONT (NZ) – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground. Over raced during the early stages and became awkward at heels approaching the 1600m. Laid in over the concluding stages. Rider A. Mallyon reported that his mount resented the kickback.
 
QUICK SHOT – Jockey M. Du Plessis reported that his off side winker partly displaced at the 500m placing him at a disadvantage.
 
POWER GLIDER – Hampered shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
CLASSIQUE GAL – Had to be resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Bumped shortly after the start. Raced wide until leaving the 1400m.
 
 
Race 2: MARTIN COLLINS AUSTRALIA CLASS 6 HANDICAP   1700 Metres
 
RED WAVE – Shifted out on jumping and bumped BUTCH’N’BUGS.
 
WAIRERE FALLS (NZ) – Bumped at the start. Raced wide from the 900m. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Orman reported that the gelding did not appreciate today’s firm track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
WARP SPEED – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider M. Cahill reported that the gelding was doing its best work late and will be better suited over more ground. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
BUTCH'N'BUGS – Bumped and hampered at the start.
 
GRANITE PRINCE – Momentarily inconvenienced approaching the 200m after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PERFECT ENCOUNTER.
 
PETUNIA – Bumped at the start.
 
GOLDEEL – Rider A. Jones was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted.
 
OZARCH – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 3: ARCHER PARK RACING BLUE & WHITE STARS BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP   1800 Metres
 
UNCOMMON VALOUR – Approaching the 1700m, raced in restricted room.
 
WHISKY DREAM – Raced wide until the 1300m.
 
BEEF WEEK PRINCESS – When asked to comment on the above market performance, trainer Mr D. Bowen advised that he was confident of a forward showing as the mare had raced well at its previous starts and he was somewhat surprised at the price in the market. He further added that BEEF WEEK PRINCESS races well on good tracks and was down in weight in today’s event. Stewards noted Mr Bowen’s comments.
 
ARTFUL GIRL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Leaving the 1400m steadied from the heels of REDWOOD SHADOW which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider J. Byrne was severely reprimanded for careless riding in this incident.
 
BECKFORD – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI MISSILE – Leaving the 1300m, improved onto heels and shifted wider before racing wide from that point onwards.
 
 
Race 4: ASSURED MANAGEMENT CARBINE CLUB GOLD COAST STAKES      1800 Metres
 
DAYTONA BAY – Raced wide until leaving the 1400m.
 
SEAT OF POWER (IRE) – Raced in restricted room leaving the 200m and was obliged to alter course approaching the 100m.   
 
SEA RAIDER – Raced wide throughout.
 
TREVELYAN – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.  
 
INDIAN DREAMER – Both jockey R. Dolan and trainer T. Edmonds were of the opinion, that INDIAN DREAMER didn’t handle today’s racing surface and resented the kickback. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RITANI (NZ) – Raced wide until leaving the 1300m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
RED TOP – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: MAKERS MARK CLASS 3 HANDICAP         1200 Metres
 
PLUNDERING – Raced in restricted room approaching the 1000m. Approaching the 800m, when racing in restricted room, shifted out and made contact with BAD EDUCATION and became unbalanced.
 
BROOKHAVEN – Trainer Mr C. Munce was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Began awkwardly. Bumped and had to be restrained approaching the winning post when tightened for room.  
 
DARK HARMONY – Raced wide throughout. Approaching the 800m had to be steadied and lost ground when tightened for room when racing to the outside of BAD EDUCATION, which was bumped and taken outwards by PLUNDERING, and to the inside of MASTER GEE which shifted in. Apprentice T. Fenlon was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for failing to afford sufficient racing room to inside runners. In issuing a reprimand only, Stewards noted the contribution of PLUNDERING shifting out at this point.
 
JOHN RAMBO – Slow to begin.
 
GOLDEELUCK – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
SELOUS – Began awkwardly. Passing the 50m had to be restrained when racing in restricted room.
 
BAD EDUCATION – Laid in under pressure approaching the 1000m. Approaching the 800m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied.  
 
FUMIKO – Raced keenly in the early stages before being restrained and then approaching the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of KERCHAK. Jockey J. Byrne was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for shifting ground when not fully clear. Approaching the winning post shifted out and away from GOLDEELUCK and bumped with BROOKHAVEN.
 
THIS IS ONE – When asked to comment on the above market performance, trainer K. Kemp advised that the gelding’s racing pattern is to lead or race in a forward position and in his opinion, was suited by today’s track conditions. Stewards noted Mr Kemp’s comments.  
 
EAGLE HAWK STAR – Began awkwardly.
 
KERCHAK (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
LAYDOWNLILY – Approaching the 1000m, bumped on a number of occasions.
 
MASTER GEE – Raced wide until the 700m.
 
TALK TIME – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 6: 90.0 SEA FM WITH BRONTE & LAKEY THE GOLD JEWEL   1400 Metres
 
The start of this event was slightly delayed when VIMINELE required farrier attention prior to entering the mounting yard. After the running of this race, the track was upgraded to a Good (3) retrospectively.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Declared a late scratching due to the firm track conditions at 1.32pm.
 
DON'T STOP – Laid out rounding the home turn. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be stepping short in front. Trainer P. Nolan Jnr reported that the gelding would now go for a spell.
 
VIMINELE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that the horse didn’t appreciate the kickback.
 
ALPHA JANE – Slow to begin. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 7: TAB MILITARY ROSE PLATE   1100 Metres
 
MABEL – Raced in restricted room leaving the 1000m.
 
RUBY JULY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  
 
RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – Near the 700m, obliged to check from the heels of RUSSIAN ALLIANCE which shifted in, and as a result made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor, rider of RUSSIAN ALLIANCE, pled guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that he directed his mount inwards to the inside of CADERAS, causing RELIABLE RUBY to be severely crowded, brushing the running rail and losing its rightful running. Jockey Wilson-Taylor’s license to ride in races was suspended for 16 days commencing midnight the 16th of March 2024 and ending midnight the 1st of April 2024. Jockey K. Wilson-Taylor was advised of his rights of appeal.
 
HAKKAI MARU – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
Race 8: AQUIS QTIS JEWEL (2YO)      1200 Metres
 
MISHANI ECLIPSE – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
HEAD HONCHO – Shifted out at the start. Approaching the 900m, had to be restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of WHAT A DOOZY which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Rider M. Cahill reported that the gelding proved difficult to ride throughout and he advised trainer R. Tyrell to experiment with gear prior to its next start.
 
DEFIANT BOOM – Raced wide throughout. Brushed with MISHANI CROWN over the concluding stages.
 
ESTRONDO – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
MISHANI ALOHA – Jockey S. Collett was fined $600 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two of which were consecutive.
 
MISHANI LILY – Stewards accepted the explanation for jockey J. Orman being overweight and requiring to be replaced by jockey D. Thornton.
 
MISHANI EXPRESS – Hampered shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI CROWN – Raced wide throughout. Brushed with DEFIANT BOOM over the concluding stages.
 
MISHANI SUSPECT – Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
WHAT A DOOZY – Over raced during the early stages. Passing the 1000m, had to be steadied when racing in restricted room.  
 
MISHANI FIRE – Raced wide throughout.
 
SUNSHINYDAY – Bucked shortly after the start for some distance, harmlessly dislodging rider L. Tilley. Trainer T. Smith was advised that SUNSHINYDAY will be required to barrier trial prior to racing again. Jockey L. Tilley was examined by QAS and cleared to fulfill his remaining engagements.
 
MYTHBUSTA – Hampered shortly after the start.
 
 
Race 9: MR RACING.AU QTIS JEWEL (3YO)     1200 Metres
 
DEFIANT SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout.
 
MISHANI GANGSTER – Raced wide throughout.
 
HIGHBAR – Laid in approaching the 1000m. Raced wide throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. King advised Stewards he will report back on the post race condition of the gelding.
 
KESALUL – Laid out near the 800m.
 
MISHANI ROYALE – Raced wide throughout.
 
PARTY FOR TWO – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
RINGER'S REWARD – Laid in approaching the 1100m.
 
SHE'S A ROGUE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
GLASS OF ROSE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 10: BBC DIGITAL AND CANON AUSTRALIA BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP       1100 Metres
 
GEMELON BOLT – Began awkwardly.
 
AT WITZ END – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Raced wide throughout. Jockey D. Peisley was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, being two more than permitted.
 
PERSEIDS – Raced in restricted room leaving the 1000m.
 
HODGSON – Approaching the 1000m, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of PARTY SPIRIT, which was carried in by GEMELON BOLT.
 
JAMAICAN RUMBA – Restrained at the start to take up a position closer to the rail. Raced wide throughout.
 
TIKKA READY – Raced wide throughout.
 
HIDDEN WEALTH – Trainer T. Gollan advised of a change of change of tactics – to be ridden further back to obtain cover. Ridden accordingly. Restrained at the start to take up a position closer to the rail. Over raced during the early stages. Leaving the 1000m improved onto heels, shifted out and continued to over race during the middle stages.
 
BRING ME KASH - Passing the 700m, jockey B. Thornton was momentarily inconvenienced to avoid a number of birds which flew across the front of the field.
