GENERAL
Medical certificates were received from Apprentice C. Sutherland and Apprentice J. Williams.
As Jockey P. Hammersley was not riding due to injury, and Jockey J. Morris due to transport difficulties, Stewards permitted the rider changes as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey P. Hammersley was advised he would require medical clearance prior to resuming.
Races 3 to 6 were started manually.
Race 1: VILLAGE ROADSHOW THEME PARKS MAIDEN PLATE 1800M
Whilst parading in the stall area, SHARMAN PETE underwent a routine inspection for its racing plates, where it was observed the equicast attached to the off-fore hoof would have presented an issue for racing, and on this advice, as well as a veterinary examination, the gelding was withdrawn at 1:15pm by Stewards.
On the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all bets on SHARMAN PETE to be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st - DAWN PARTY – 9c win, 13c place.
2nd - VIKING BLOOD – 9c place.
3rd - DULVERTON CHARM – 12c place.
AUTUMN SONG – Passing the 1200m, steadied from the heels of PRIDE OF PASSION, which steadied in front.
DAWN PARTY – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Slow to begin.
FINE AND RARE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
PRIDE OF PASSION – A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which weakened over the final 100m, revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer G. Hineman reported the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
SEAPARK – A post-race veterinary examination the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Stable representative for Trainer Chris Waller was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
VIKING BLOOD – Slow to begin and shifted out abruptly after leaving the gates. Laid in under pressure in the home straight, obliging rider D. Peisley to stop riding and correct the gelding on several occasions.
Race 2: SEA WORLD BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1800M
HULKAMANIA – Rider A. Thompson dropped his whip near the 250m.
HIGHLAND HILL – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Apprentice C. Sutherland reported the gelding would be better suited to races over longer distances.
PRINCETON AWARD – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Apprentice J. Williams reported the gelding may not have been suited to today’s track conditions.
SLY CORNER (NZ) – Rider G. Goomany pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on nine (9) occasions prior to the 100m, four (4) more than permitted. Rider G. Goomany’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine (9) days, commencing midnight 7 September 2024 and concluding midnight 16 September 2024. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, the whip rule guidelines and the totality of his whip use (21).
ENUNCIATION – Bumped at the start by HIGHLAND HILL. Rider K. Matheson was spoken to advisedly, regarding the raising of his whip arm above shoulder height when using the whip on the gelding in the home straight.
EASTOWN – Dipped on jumping.
Race 3: WARNER BROS MOVIE WORLD BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1000 M
Correct weight was delayed allowing D. Peisley, rider of third place getter TAPIS MAGIQUE, to view the Stewards footage of the start. After doing so, he elected not to pursue the matter further and correct weight was declared.
PORT ERIN – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
MEHAJIR – Apprentice R. Thorburn reported the mare would be better suited to races over longer distances.
LASER BEAM – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
RUSSIAN DIVA – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
TAPIS MAGIQUE – Shortly after the start, steadied when tightened between RUBYDOO AND ADORADEC, which shifted out after being bumped by EAGLE'S FIRE. Approaching the 600m, laid in, contacted MEHAJIR and became unbalanced. Held up from the 500m until approaching the 200m.
PRINCE OF MARAKESH – Near the 250m, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LASER BEAM.
Race 4: TOPGOLF MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 M
FLYING AURELIUS – Knuckled on leaving the gates. Raced very keenly in the early stages and approaching the 800m, shifted out from the heels of MACONDA, obliging THUNDER SHANGHAI to race wider for a short distance. Continued to race very keenly thereafter.
DRAPER – Lost ground when tightened for room at the start between runners.
NEO VICI – Blundered on jumping.
MACONDA – Shifted out on jumping.
ONE DREAM AWAY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination behind the barriers due to the presence of blood in the filly’s mouth. Lost ground when tightened for room at the start between runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to off hind leg.
PAPER DOLL – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
After the running of this race, the track upgraded to a Good 3 at 3:25pm
Race 5: WET'N'WILD CLASS 1 PLATE 1200 M
CASH LANDING – Rider A. Allen reported the gelding may not have been suited by today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
SUNLORD – Shifted out on jumping. Raced keenly in the middle stages and steadied from the heels of CASH LANDING near the 600m. For some distance approaching the 400m, was awkwardly placed between ARTEMAS and CASH LANDING; and near the 300m checked when ARTEMAS out slightly.
ARTEMAS – At the start, lost ground when tightened for room between BENGAL DIAMOND, which shifted out and MIST OF DAWN, which shifted in. Near the 900m, contacted the rail when racing tight to the inside of SUNLORD, which was racing tight to the inside of BENGAL DIAMOND.
FLYING BAT – Raced wide without cover for the majority.
Race 6: AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK SPECTACULAR RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP 1400 M
COLD ONE – Raced wide without cover for the majority. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
NIPPA'S NIGHTCAP – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PARIS AFFAIR – Slow to begin.
SHE'S JESSIE – Approaching the 1300m, steadied when buffeted between MILEY’S MEMORY and FEARLESS THINKING (NZ), which after being taken out by ROCKIN' ARTIE, then shifted out. In the middle stages, laid in.
LISSARO (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
