Stewards approved the following overweights:

Trainer D. Vandyke was severely reprimanded pursuant to LR68(1) in that he failed to scratch PRIVATE EQUITY in race 5 by 7.30am.
Race 1: THANK YOU MINISTER GRACE GRACE MAIDEN PLATE 2200 Metres
ENTERPRISE PRIVATE – Slow to begin.
FINE AND RARE – Apprentice J. McMurray pleaded guilty to a charge under A132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 11 occasions prior to the 100m. Apprentice McMurray’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of nine days, commencing midnight the 12th of October 2024 until midnight the 21st of October 2024. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and the whip penalty guidelines.
JUSTIFIABLY – Held up for a run from passing the 500m until approaching the 300m. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
SMELTER (IRE) – Laid in under pressure in the straight.
LADY MATILDA – Shortly after the start was restrained and shifted across to the rail to settle at the rear of the field.
MAJESTIC ANGEL (NZ) – Began awkwardly.
NEFI – Rider A. Allen reported his mount hung out throughout.
SISTINE CHAPEL – When giving ground near the 350m, steadied to avoid to the heels of JUSTIFIABLY (app. J. Williams), which shifted in when not clear. Apprentice J. Williams was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
Race 2: THANK YOU STEVE WILSON RQ CHAIRMAN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1800 Metres
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow rider N. Thomas, on second placegetter GOING TO THE SUN, to view the photo finish.
MAUI (NZ) – Slow to begin. Eased down from the 200m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Trainer A. Willick was advised that MAUI will require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of an ECG examination prior to galloping or trialling 1000m in the presence of Stewards.
LISSARO (NZ) – Shifted out on jumping.
MISS SHU (NZ) – When being restrained to obtain cover approaching the 1400m, was hampered and became awkwardly placed at the heels of HIT ‘EM UP (apprentice J. McMurray), which shifted in when not quite clear, and then steadied. Apprentice J. McMurray was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident. Held up for a run from passing the 500m until the near the 300m, before being shifted to the inside of HIT ‘EM UP to obtain clear running.
SEEYA LATER GATER – Hampered between runners on jumping. Rider R. Jamieson reported the gelding travelled well early, then came off the bit passing the 1000m obliging her to apply considerable pressure. She said SEEYA LATER GATER contacted the running rail near the 800m and was again under pressure approaching the 500m and had to be steadied from the heels of MAUI, which was weakening. She added she was not comfortable with the gelding’s action on straightening and considered easing SEEYA LATER GATER from the race, however, the gelding then regained its stride giving her more confidence to push it out over the concluding stages, where SEEYA LATER GATER than made ground in the run to the winning post.
ARISTELLA – Shifted in on jumping.
GOING TO THE SUN – Over raced during the early stages.
AVOID THE MISSTRES – Slow to begin.
BRIEF SOJOURN – Stewards accepted the reason tendered by trainer S. Deacon for the late declaration of rider. Apprentice J. Hampson was reprimanded under AR185 for adding gear after weighing out. Apprentice Hampson reported it was her intention to be somewhat closer, however; when caught wide in the middle stages, she was obliged to push forward and join the leader near the 900m.
Race 3: IN APPRECIATION OF GCTC MEMBERS CLASS 4 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
CLOVER'S PRINCE – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start.
TROIKA – Restrained from heels of ONE ‘N’ ONLY shortly after the start after that runner rolled out.
ONE 'N' ONLY – Laid out rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Rider R. Wiggins reported the mare, which was first up from a break, will take improvement from the run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed failed to reveal any abnormalities.
CADERAS – Slow to begin.
FREELAND – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Apprentice J. McMurray reported the mare, which was first up, was beaten for pace in the early stages and will be better suited over a further distance.
Race 4: THE DONNA TOWNLEY MEMORIAL BM58 HANDICAP 1000 Metres
BATTLE OF VIENNA – Rider S. Cormack reported the gelding was only having its second start for the stable and at its first start, raced on the pace and weakened. He added from the wide gate and with plenty of speed in the race, the gelding settled further back, enjoyed a good run throughout and finished the race off very well.
GHOST HUNTER – Raced wide without cover.
APOLLO TEN – Held up for a run rounding the home turn and near the 300m, shifted to the outside of HEARTS ARE RACING to obtain clear running.
HEARTS ARE RACING – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
EAGLE'S FIRE – Raced wide with cover.
Race 5: THANK YOU RACING QUEENSLAND BOARD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200 Metres
The start of this race was delayed when ONATARE became extremely agitated on arrival at the barriers and was declared a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 4.34pm. The start was further delayed when ENID reared behind the gates and underwent a veterinary examination. JUNGLE WARRIOR then became fractious in the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was declared a late withdrawal at 4.38pm.
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on ONATARE be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st ANDERSEN 7c win, 5c place
2nd PHILIA 10c place
3rd READY FOR THE TRIP 13c place
Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that ONATARE will be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
Further, Stewards also ordered that all bets placed on JUNGLE WARRIOR be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply:
1st ANDERSEN 0c win, 1c place
2nd PHILIA 2c place
3rd READY FOR THE TRIP 3c place
Trainer A. Plumb was advised that JUNGLE WARRIOR will be required to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
ADALMO – Jumped with its head up.
CLIODHNA MAEVE (NZ) – Bumped shortly after the start by ROTHSPENE. Hampered approaching the 400m.
CHAYSE 'N' LEISA – Jumped awkwardly. Raced very greenly during the early stages.
MERRON MOLLY – Raced wide without cover throughout.
READY FOR THE TRIP – Near the 700m, steadied from the heels of SINGED. Became awkwardly placed on heels and steadied approaching the 400m, when SINGED rolled out after being bumped by ENID.
SINGED – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection when a late withdrawal at the Sunshine Coast on the 4th of October, after becoming fractious on the float.
ENID – Shortly after the start was steadied when tightened by SINGED, which was laying in.
Race 6: JONKER FIRST YEARLINGS 2025 BM62 HANDICAP 1400 Metres
MEAN APPROACH – Rider S. Cormack reported the gelding travelled well until asked for an effort on straightening, failed to respond and gave ground from the 200m. Cast the near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying cardiac arrythmia. Co-trainer T. Edmonds was advised MEAN APPROACH will require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of an ECG examination, prior to galloping or trialling 1000m in the presence of Stewards. Mr Edmonds advised MEAN APPROACH would now go for a spell.
AHEADOFHISTIME – Raced wide during the early stages.
PASSIONATE REBEL – Rider B. Thornton reported the gelding might be now looking for a longer journey.
TIRITIRI (NZ) – Held up for a run from the 400m until the 300m.
CARDSHARP – Was declared a late scratching at 3.11pm due to transport difficulties enroute.
MEHAJIR – Due to a misunderstanding with an adjustment to apprentice J. Franklin’s minimum riding weight, he was allowed to fulfill his engagement on the mare without claiming an allowance. Slow to begin.
Race 7: STRONGER FIRST FOALS CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1300 Metres
RACKETEERING – Slow to begin.
ANDY – Rider A. Allen reported the gelding felt awkward in its action in the straight and he elected to ease ANDY down near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hindleg. Trainer A. Parramore was advised that ANDY will require a veterinary clearance required prior to racing again.
FAMOUS PEDRILLE – Rider M. Hellyer reported the gelding lay out from the 800m.
Race 8: OFFICIATING AT AQUIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200 Metres
BARASSI – Co-trainer T. Edmonds advised the horse will now go for a spell.
TOWER FLYPASS (NZ) – Jumped with its head up. Raced keenly in the early stages.
HYDROELECTRIC – Raced wide without cover.
NIGHTSTICK – For several strides near the 700m became awkwardly placed at the heels of MYGIRLGLADYS. Held up for clear running from the 500m until the 300m.
COUNT NICHOLAS – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide with cover. Rider M. Wishart dropped her whip inside the 50m.
WALSH BAY – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
INTOXEL – Raced wide with cover.
