GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting:
 
Race 5 – BLACK ASSASSIN – N. Masuda +0.5kg (55kg)
Race 7 – ANOTHER DAZZLER – D. Smith +1kg (55kg)
 
Race 1: REVELSTONE STUD CLASS 5 HANDICAP 1700 M
 
FLYING BIRDS – Slipped over in the tie-up stalls and subsequently was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 12:55pm. Upon the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on FLYING BIRDS be refunded with the following deductions to apply –  
 
1st – 14c the win, 17c the place
2nd – 12c the place
3rd – 17c the place
 
CALCAREOUS – Shifted a plate in the tie-ups and required farrier attention. Weakened from the 150m. Rider P. Hammersley reported the gelding is better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
STARZAM – Slow into stride. Laid out from the 600m to the 400m.
 
BAGLIONI – Stewards accepted trainer B. Bellamy’s explanation for the late declaration of rider. Reared at the start and lost ground. Raced keenly in the early stages. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: APULIA CLASS 1 PLATE 1800 M
 
Upon reviewing the Official footage after correct weight, it was found that the barrier numbers at the front of gates of 11 and 12 were reversed, however; it was established that all runners were placed in their correct barrier.
 
AMALGAMATION – Raced wide for the majority.
 
ARTZINO (NZ) – Slow to begin. Rider C. Bayliss could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance and added the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer J. Bruce confirmed the gelding would now be spelled. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
SEEYA LATER GATER – Near the 1400m, eased when tightened by YOU AND I, which laid in and away from ARISTELLA. In all the circumstances, no direct action was taken against any one rider other than a general reminder to exercise greater care. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
YOU AND I (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
BEAN ALL OVA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced in restricted room near the 1400m.
 
FIDDLER ONTHE ROOF – Approaching the 1400m, tightened when SMOKIN’ DE QUO (D. Smith) shifted in before being corrected. Rider D. Smith was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident. Commenced to race keenly approaching the 1200m, shifted out to progress forward to race outside the leader near the 1000m.
 
SMOKIN' DE QUO – Momentarily steadied near the 1000m after being crossed by FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
 
MINGARDOS (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: BOB MARSHALL BM65 HANDICAP 1000 M
 
DEEP BLAST – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
BATTLE OF VIENNA – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider S. Cormack reported he had intended to be more forward, but after not beginning the best, settled towards the rear and over raced. He added the gelding was not suited to racing tight to the inside of DEEP BLAST and all these factors may have contributed to the overall disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BORRELLI – Near the 600m, when over racing was checked from the heels. For a short distance after this, was awkward in its stride.
 
OBEROI PRINCESS – Approaching the 600m, laid in towards the heels of BOCHKAREVA and was steadied. BORRELLI, which was following and racing keenly, was checked.
 
REMLAPS ANGEL – Rider M. Hellyer reported the mare laid out at various stages of the event.
 
GHOST HUNTER – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: GEORGIA TAYLOR FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP   1300 M
 
CLIODHNA MAEVE (NZ) – Over raced in the early and middle stages.
 
SOFALA – Leaving the 600m, commenced to hang out and obliged COSMIC BEAUTY to race wider rounding the home turn. Trainer’s representative was advised a warning would be recorded against the mare for its racing manners.
 
TORERA – Slow into stride. Shifted ground under pressure passing the 200m
 
DESERT COUGAR – Slow into stride.
 
ALECIA – Rider K. Matheson dropped his whip leaving the 150m.
 
DEEP DAWN – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1200m, momentarily steadied from the heels of PLAY IT AS IT LAYS (M. Murphy), which shifted in when not fully clear. Rider M. Murphy was advised to exercise greater care. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
Race 5: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP         1300 M
 
NAGAMIE – Trainer B. Laming was fined $200 pursuant to LR67(1) for the raceday declaration of a rider.
 
NOCTILUCENT – Began awkwardly.
 
DISCOTHEQUE – Raced wide throughout.
 
JUSTOH – Steadied from heels whilst weakening rounding the home turn. Rider J. Taylor reported the gelding did not feel right in its action when under pressure. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
 
SPIRITED SON – Near the 900m, got its head up and became badly unbalanced when racing to the inside of NAGAMIE. A short distance later, again got its head up and became momentarily unbalanced.
 
LARIDAE – Began awkwardly and shortly after the start, was inconvenienced when inside horses shifted out.
 
BLACK ASSASSIN – As rider D. Turner was overweight, he was replaced by rider N. Masuda. Subsequently, rider D. Turner was fined $100 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
 
Race 6: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS CLASS 3 HANDICAP      1200 M
 
TREPORTI – Shortly after the start became awkward on the heels of BALTRAY, which was being steadied to take up a midfield position and then shifted out, hampering MAYBE SMART and SNOW BOUM.
 
LORDSTER – Apprentice C. Bellamy reported it was not her intention to lead, however; when RUBYDOO elected to restrain in the early stages, she was obliged to go forward and lead.
 
REBEL SHADOW – Rounding the home turn bumped with TAPIS MAGIQUE.  Rider C. Bayliss dropped his whip near the 100m.
 
SNOW BOUM – Resaddled on arrival at the barriers. Shortly after the start was hampered. Near the 900m, tightened between TREPORTI, which got its head up and shifted out slightly, and TAPIS MAGIQUE, which shifted in slightly before being corrected.
 
RUBYDOO – Raced keenly in the early and middle.
 
TAPIS MAGIQUE – Rounding the home turn, bumped by REBEL SHADOW.
 
STILL READY – Near the 300m, steadied from the heels of FLYING TYROL, which shifted out slightly. Near the 150m, eased when tightened between FLYING TYROL and TAPIS MAGIQUE (S. Cormack), which shifted in under pressure. Rider S. Cormack was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
MAYBE SMART – Shortly after the start was hampered.
 
FLYING TYROL – Raced wide in the early stages before being allowed to stride to a position outside the leader near the 900m.
 
Race 7: ATTWOOD MARSHALL LAWYERS BM65 HANDICAP 2400 M
 
MR FRENCH – Commenced to weaken from the 600m and eased down on straightening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer E. Ensby was advised the gelding would have to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to next racing.
 
HIGHLAND HILL – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 900m, shifted out across the heels of MR FRENCH, obliging BACKLIT BEAUTY to race wider.
 
LOST ILLUSIONS (NZ) – Rider R. Wiggins reported his mount was disappointing.
 
HIT 'EM UP – Began awkwardly. Eased down from the 250m. Rider K. Matheson could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer A. Campton was advised the gelding would have to Officially trial to the satisfaction of Stewards, prior to next racing.
 
BACKLIT BEAUTY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Rider D. Smith pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. Rider D. Smith was fined $500. When considering penalty, account was taken of his record in relation to this rule, guilty plea, whip use in totality and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
 
GODRA – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. For some distance passing the 700m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of MR FRENCH, which was commencing to weaken.
 
LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Raced wide until passing the 1400m.
 
Apprentice D. McGillivray (HIGHLAND HILL) pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 12 occasions prior to the 100m. Apprentice D. McGillivray’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 11 days to commence at the conclusion of another suspension, midnight the 1st of November 2024 and to expire midnight the 12th of November 2024. When considering penalty, account was taken of his record in relation to this rule, guilty plea, status as an apprentice jockey, whip use in totality and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
 
 
Race 8: GCTC TWILIGHT MEETING 7TH DEC BM62 HANDICAP 1400 M
 
GRECIAN LASS – Stewards accepted trainer S. Foster’s explanation for the late declaration of rider. Raced wide throughout.
 
AHEADOFHISTIME – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide for the majority.
 
RIVA D'AMOR – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
