GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweights:
Race 4. S. Cormack +0.5kg
Race 6. D. Smith +1kg
Race 6. A. Allen +1kg
 
 
Race 1: 90.9 SEAFM GC’S #1 HIT MUSIC SHOW COLTS, GELDINGS AND ENTIRES MAIDEN HANDICAP  1000 Metres
 
BOOTS WITH THE FUR – Raced greenly during the early and middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.
 
PETE THE SNOOP – Laid out under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.
 
CHAYSE 'N' LEISA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
THREE TEES – Rider A. Allen could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
NOBLE INTENT – After the race was noted to have lost its off fore plate.
 
 
Race 2: 90.9 SEA FM’S BRONTE & LAKEY FOR BREAKFAST FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN HANDICAP     1000 Metres
 
The start of this race was delayed 4 minutes to hold for an interstate venue.
 
BEGORRA – Approaching the 200m, momentarily steadied when KINOSHITA (App B. Moffat) shifted considerable ground under pressure. Apprentice B. Moffat was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS – Approaching the 800m, got its head up when being steadied from the heels of DARE I SAY, which shifted away from the heels of AQUATEMPO.
 
KINOSHITA – Began awkwardly.
 
AQUATEMPO – Rider P. Hammersley was fined $200 pursuant to AR190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight and was replaced.
 
REMOMIA – Apprentice F. Sandkuhl was reminded of her use of the whip when her mount is out of contention.
 
DARE I SAY – Underwent a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barriers after contacting a fence leaving the enclosure. In the middle stages laid in and passing the 700m, raced close to the heels of AQUATEMPO, which shifted out slightly.
 
 
Race 3: 90.9 SEA FM’S 10K ALPHA BUCKS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP      1400 Metres
 
RUNAWAY TYCOON – Rider P. Hammersley reported the gelding was not the best to begin, however; was able to find cover behind the leaders, and despite racing somewhat keenly in the middle stages, when a run presented shortly after straightening, RUNAWAY TYCOON did not let down as expected and proved disappointing. On pulling up, rider Hammersley was dislodged from the gelding, examined by QAS officers with no immediate injuries apparent. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
BLACK ASSASSIN – Raced ungenerously during the middle stages.
 
GOOD DAY MAE – Raced wide without cover.
 
HERE'S TO POWER – When the start was effected, bounded, unbalancing rider Y. Lewis and lost ground. Rounding the home turn, had difficulty obtaining clear running before shifting to the outside of BLACK ASSASSIN near the 300m. Trainer G. Doughty was advised a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of the filly.
 
 
Race 4: 92.5 TRIPLE M GOLD – GOOD TIMES & GREATEST HITS CLASS 3 HANDICAP      1800 Metres
 
POWER ACE – When under pressure in the straight, laid in and proved difficult to ride. Rider A. Allen reported the mare is best suited when able to lead unchallenged. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
SHOWMAN (NZ) – Began awkwardly, shifted out on jumping and bumped CONTRERAS.
 
CONTRERAS – Tightened between runners on jumping. Rider S. Cormack dropped his whip approaching the winning post.
 
AMALGAMATION – Began awkwardly. Rider K. Zechner could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance for the gelding, which was having its second start back from a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild heat stress and received treated on course.
 
 
Race 5: 92.5 TRIPLE M GOLD BREKKIE WITH FLAN ALI & SPIDA CLASS 3 PLATE       1400 Metres
 
COLD ONE – Laid out under pressure approaching the 400m and in the straight. Approaching the 100m, shifted out and inconvenienced MORE LOVE. Apprentice S. Champkin was notified she must stop riding and straighten her mounts when they shifting ground.
 
MARTEDI – Slow to begin the hampered shortly afterwards. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 150m, checked when tightened onto the hindquarters of IMPRESSIERO by BILLIONAIR BABY(A. Allen), which shifted in and away from WALSH BAY(M. Cahill) after angling into a run to the inside of that filly as it was shifting ground. In the incident, IMPRESSIERO became unbalanced after being contacted on the hindquarters by MARTEDI. After considering all of the evidence, both riders M. Cahill and A. Allen were severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.  
 
IMPRESSIERO – Unbalanced when contacted on the hindquarters near the 150m.
 
MORE LOVE – Inconvenienced near the 100m.
 
REEL WILD (NZ) – Underwent a veterinary inspection on arrival at the barriers after contacting a fence leaving the enclosure.
 
 
 
Race 6: TRIPLE M GOLD’S $1000 MINUTE JERICHO CUP (HEAT) BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP      3200 Metres
 
GLEN MASSEY (NZ) – Rider K. Zechner was fined $500 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on nine occasions prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. Further, rider K. Zechner was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on consecutive strides.
 
ANOTHER DAZZLER – Shortly after the start, clipped the heels of NATURE BOY and blundered, almost dislodging its rider. Rider D. Smith reported the gelding was inclined to lay in throughout.
 
SMELTER (IRE) – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: LISTNR BM65 HANDICAP      1200 Metres
 
HALFAHOPE – Bumped with KEMI ZABI. Near the 900m, steadied when tightened by LIBERTY STEPS. Apprentice J. Williams, rider of LIBERTY STEPS, was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
LIBERTY STEPS – Lost its near hind plate in running.
 
KEMI ZABI – Bumped with HALFAHOPE on jumping. Approaching the 1000m, steadied from the heels of PRINCE OF SOOVIEW when awkwardly placed to the inside of HALFAHOPE. Near the 900m was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRINCE OF SOOVIEW and tight inside of HALFAHOPE. When under pressure from the 200m, laid in. Lost its near fore plate in running.
 
PRINCE OF SOOVIEW – A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off hind heel bulb and abrasions to the near hind splint bone consistent with being galloped on. Trainer D. Hansen was advised PRINCE OF SOOVIEW will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
