SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 6. J. Guthmann-Chester +1kg
 
 
Race 1: SEQ FORMWORK CLASS 1 HANDICAP       2200 Metres
 
NOCTILUCENT – Passing the 1200m, after shifting out marginally was then forced wider for the remainder after FRIJOLES improved to that runner’s inside. B. Lerena reported that although obliged to race wide without cover from the 800m the gelding may not have been suited to the track conditions. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Co-trainer T. Edmonds reported that NOCTILUCENT will now head for a spell.
 
FORT DENISON – Began awkwardly and bumped shortly afterwards.
 
YA LOVE HER – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight after being disappointed for a run between JUNGLE JET and ARCHERS REIGN, until approaching the 150m.
 
NICODEMUS – Bumped on jumping.
 
GOING TO THE SUN – Had its head turned on jumping and as a result lost considerable ground. Trainer W. King was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
 
MAJESTIC ANGEL (NZ) – Held up for clear running from the 500m. Shortly after entering the home straight attempted to improve into a run between FORT DENISON and LASQUETI BOOM, and after FORT DENISON commenced to roll out, was obliged to steady and shift in across heels. Jockey G. Cartwright, rider of FORT DENISON, was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for this incident.
 
FRIJOLES – Approaching the winning post on the first occasion had to be restrained after improving on the heels of NOCTILUCENT, whilst racing keenly. Continued to race keenly during the middle stages. Approaching the 1200m, improved into a narrow run to the inside of NOCTILUCENT who shifted out marginally. Shortly thereafter, had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of NICODEMUS. 
 
 
Race 2: MCGWILL ENTERPRISES CHRISTMAS PARTY MAIDEN HANDICAP               1800 Metres
 
MR O'REILLY – Difficult to load and delayed the start. Trainer B. Laming was advised that a warning will be placed on the barrier manners of MR O’REILLY. Over raced during the early and middle stages.
 
FLASH ONE HEY – Over raced during the early stages.  Apprentice C. Collis reported that his mount felt awkward in its action throughout. A post race veterinary examination revealed an elevated heart rate, and trainer B. Ahrens was advised that FLASH ONE HEY will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
GOLD COAST MILLO – Raced wide during the early stages. 
 
DOUBLE GLAZED – Slow to begin. Passing the 800m had to be restrained after improving onto the heels of CAESAR CAKE. Obliged to shift out to improve into clear running approaching the 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the off side nostril.
 
 
Race 3: DONOVAN & CO PROPERTY SPECIALISTS MAIDEN PLATE   1200 Metres
 
SIGLO DE ORO – Laid out under pressure rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, jockey B. Thornton reported that the gelding over raced throughout resulting in it failing to finish the race off as expected.
 
WINCHMAN – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after slipping over whilst walking from its stable and was cleared to start. Fractious in the barriers. Over raced during the early stages. Became awkward on the heels of ECCLESTONE passing the 700m. Buffeted and forced wider passing the 500m by MERCHANT GOLD which shifted out to improve.
 
FACUNDO – Over raced during the middle stages. When attempting a narrow run on entering the home straight was hampered and forced inwards by JIDAYUBORI which shifted in marginally.
 
JIDAYUBORI – Began awkwardly and bumped with ECCLESTONE. On entering the home straight, was hampered and carried out by Graham which shifted out to improve.
 
SPOT BOLT – Slow to begin.
 
TSZYUYA – Slow to begin. Jockey J. Collett reported that TSZYUYA raced greenly throughout and was only fair in its finishing effort and would derive benefit from the race experience. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
ECCLESTONE – Bumped on jumping.
 
FORCEFILLY – Raced wide throughout.
 
ANSON BAY – Slow to begin, then hampered shortly afterwards. Over raced during the middle stages. 
 
PRIVATE SHOWTIME – Shifted in on jumping. Raced wide throughout. Forced wider passing the 500m by MERCHANT GOLD which shifted out to improve. Laid out under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
BLACK ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 4: THE NOTORIOUS PUNTERS CLUB BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP       1000 Metres
 
ARTIE BEATSOME – As apprentice J. Molloy was not riding for acceptable reasons, he was replaced by apprentice B. Wheeler. Laid out during the early and middle stages. Apprentice B. Wheeler reported that his mount made a respiratory noise on pulling up. A post race veterinary examination revealed gelding to be lame in the right hindleg. Trainer C. Richardson was advised that ARTIE BEATSOME will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again. 
 
TELLEZ (NZ) – Slow to begin. When asked to comment, jockey R. Maloney reported that he was obliged to settle further back than anticipated from the wide barrier.
 
MONTE CRUISE – Began awkwardly.
 
ARDERN – Began awkwardly.  
 
ARTIE PANTZ – Began awkwardly. Raced greenly throughout. When asked to comment, jockey D. Thornton could offer no excuses for the performance. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
 
Race 5: MAGIC MILLIONS THE DEBUT        1000 Metres
 
CERTIFIED COPY – Slow to begin before being restrained from heels shortly after the start. Over raced during the early stages. Approaching the 200m raced in restricted room for a number of strides to the inside of JAGGERY.
 
EARN TO BURN – Over raced during the early stages.
 
JAGGERY – Bumped on jumping. Steadied from heels approaching the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to have an atrial fibrillation. Trainer L. Birchley was advised that JAGGERY will require a veterinary clearance inclusive of an ECG, prior to trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
TORQUE TO BE SURE – Carried wider passing the 800m. Inconvenienced at the 600m. Over raced throughout.
 
FORGOTTEN SPIRIT – Hampered on jumping. Passing the 600m, had to be steadied after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of ISTI STAR, resulting in the filly shifting out and racing wider for the remainder of the event.
 
ISTI STAR – A post race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the right hindleg. Trainer P. Shailer was advised that ISTI STAR will require a veterinary examination prior to racing again. Trainer P. Shailer reported that ISTI STAR will now head for a spell.
 
VEIN GIRL – Bumped on jumping.
 
WOLLZEILE – Shifted in and bumped on jumping. Steadied from heels approaching the 600m. 
 
VOODOO LASS – Hampered between runners on jumping. Over raced during the early stages. Passing the 800m, became awkwardly placed on heels and shifted wider. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
 
Race 6: TAB GC1000 3YO PLATE        1000 Metres
 
SHOWS A SIGN – Stumbled on jumping.
 
COSMIC FIRE – Raced wide throughout.
 
STAR AMBITION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Approaching the 800m, commenced to over race, shifted out and bumped MISHANI LILY. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 600m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer T. Edmonds advised that he will report back to Stewards anything that may come to light that may have effected the performance.
 
MISHANI LILY – Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 600m behind the tiring MISHANI ALOHA. Approaching the 400m, had to checked after improving onto the heels of MISHANI ALOHA and obliged to shift in. When asked to comment, apprentice C. Collis reported that after being slow to begin, was unable to make ground during the middle stages but when clear in the straight, worked to the line fairly. He added that MISHANI LILY was somewhat unsettled racing under lights for the first time.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
OVERFULL – Underwent a veterinary inspection after contacting some hedging in the mounting enclosure and cleared to start. Raced wide throughout.
 
MOULIN MISS – Obliged to alter course approaching the 100m.
 
PETTICOAT – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
 
Race 7: HENDERSONS NOW AT COASTAL BENCHMARK 78 HANDICAP       1400 Metres
 
ATLANTIC OCEAN – Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
AZZAREACH – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
 
RELEASE THE BEANS – Brushed the running rail approaching the 1000m.
 
BILLIONAIR BABY – Held up for clear running on entering the home straight. 
 
MAJESTIC BOOM – Trainer L. Mayfield-Smith was reprimanded pursuant to LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider. Slow to begin.
 
ATON OF DELIGHT – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Hampered shortly after jumping. Became awkwardly placed inside the heels of ATLANTIC OCEAN which shifted in approaching the 400m.
 
ONE 'N' ONLY – Shifted out on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Approaching the 200m. shifted out when became awkwardly placed on the heels of AZZAREACH. 
 
COLD ONE – Carried wider near the 600m when LORD OF BISCAY shifted out to improve.
 
GRACIE BLUE – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 8: COASTAL TIPPER HIRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP         1300 Metres
 
After being loaded into the barriers, ROSE OF SHIRAZ became fractious and was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 8.40pm after sustaining several abrasions to the forelegs. Stewards ordered that all bets placed on ROSE OF SHIRAZ be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
1st LADY SHOTGUN 3c win, 3c place
2nd TREPORTI 3c place
3rd FLYING BIRDS 3c place
 
LADY SHOTGUN – Approaching the 400m, had to be restrained after improving onto heels when held up for clear running and was obliged to shift wider to improve.
 
FLYING BIRDS – Began awkwardly.
 
CABSAV – Inconvenienced and carried wider when entering the home straight by LADY SHOTGUN which shifted out to improve.
 
DISSELATION – Over raced during the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HALFAHOPE – Raced wide throughout.
 
NEW LEVEL (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
MORE LOVE – Raced wide throughout.
 
BETTER YET – Slow to begin.
 
SILVA 'N' SUAVE – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
