GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following overweights:
Race 8 – T. Berry +1kg.
Race 9 – D. Stackhouse +1kg.
Race 10 – T. Clark +1kg.
 
Race 1: MAGIC MILLIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1100 M
 
SER JOH – Held up approaching the home turn before being awkwardly placed at the heels of the tiring LOOK IT’S LUCY, obliging it to shift out and bumping on several occasions with KING SPIRIT.  
 
CAPITALEX – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
HEAVENLY IMPACT – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
INNERVISIONS – Raced wide throughout. Jockey B. Shinn reported that in his opinion the gelding may not have appreciated todays track conditions.
 
KING SPIRIT – Raced wide throughout. Bumped on several occasions rounding the home turn and became unbalanced when SER JOH shifted out to avoid the heels of the tiring LOOK IT’S LUCY.
 
VOLATILE – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room near the 500m.
 
DIBBA DOBBA – Raced wide throughout.
 
BULLFIGHTER – Raced wide throughout. Momentarily inconvenienced near the 500m.
 
LOOK IT'S LUCY – Commenced to weaken rounding the home turn and laid out. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled bilaterally on the first occasion. Trainer D. Murphy was advised the mare would be stood down from racing pursuant to AR 79(4) for 3 months and must trial or gallop 1000m prior to its next start.
 
Race 2: GOLD COAST TURF CLUB MAGIC MILLIONS COUNTRY CUP 1200 M
 
CONSTANT FLIGHT – Held up rounding the home turn. Carried wider near the 200m when BENCOOLEN shifted out to improve.
 
NORTHERN PRIDE – Raced keenly during the early stages. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 600m. Held up rounding the home turn. Lost the off fore plate.
 
LOST HIS BEANS – Inconvenienced on jumping, carried wider and was obliged to steady and restrain for cover. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Jockey C. Williams reported that in his opinion the gelding was not suited to todays track conditions.
 
KING GUTHO – Change of tactics – to be ridden further forward if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
QUADE – Held up rounding the home turn up until the 200m. Had to be steadied passing the 350m to avoid the heels of BENCOOLEN which shifted out.
 
SLIPPIN' JIMMY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after a minor incident in the mounting yard and was cleared to start.
 
HODGSON – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide throughout. Passing the 200m, had to be restrained to avoid the heels of CONSTANT FLIGHT which was carried out by BENCOOLEN. Jockey R. Dolan rider of BENCOOLEN pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that near the 200m, when under hard riding, shifted out, taking CONSTANT FLIGHT (V. Duric) wider and into the rightful running of HODGSON (J. Taylor) obliging that runner to take hold and lose his rightful running. Jockey R. Dolans license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 12 days commencing midnight 18/1/2025 up to and including midnight 30/1/2025.
 
LADY SHOTGUN – Raced wide throughout.
 
MR ROCK IT – Hampered on jumping. Raced wide throughout.
 
THE CATCH – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure near the 200m.
 
MISS OSTEND – Improved onto heels passing the 200m and had to be steadied.
 
BENCOOLEN – Began awkwardly. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides passing the 600m.
 
FLYING BIRDS – Began awkwardly. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
GREAT ASPIRATIONS (NZ) – Raced wide throughout.
 
CLOVER'S PRINCE – Began awkwardly and shifted out.
 
Race 3: MAGIC MILLIONS THE DEBUT 2YO PLATE 1000 M
 
STEEL KNIGHT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
EXCELOQUENT – Near the 850m, steadied from the heels of SAYTARA which shifted in before being corrected by its rider. Continued to over race. Near the 700m when racing keenly, obliged to steady to avoid the heels of SAYTARA. Raced greenly and laid out rounding the home turn.
 
FOREIGN PRESS – Bumped on jumping. Raced greenly throughout.
 
GET READY LASS – Raced wide throughout. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.
 
IN LIMBO – Slow to begin.
 
KOOLATAH QUEEN – Carried wider rounding the home turn when AMOUSU shifted out.
 
LETTIE'S LOT – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped with FOREIGN PRESS.
 
SAYTARA – Raced greenly in the early stages.
 
Following the running of this event, further heavy rain engulfed the course, resulting in 28mm of rain falling in this period and following a Stewards track inspection, it was established that numerous parts of the track had become waterlogged and unsuitable to continue racing. Stewards subsequently called of the remainder of the meeting at 2:40pm.
