SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
 

Race 1: KPI QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE         1000 M
 
CARACENI – Raced wide throughout.
 
PRESTIGE PAK – Raced 5-wide in the early stages.
 
CASTIGLIONE – Raced greenly in the early and middle stages whilst 4-wide without cover. Rider S. Rutledge was fined the sum of $200 pursuant to AR131(b) for failing to ride CASTIGLIONE out over the final two strides of the race.
 
SECRET ROSE – Slow to begin.
 
STEFFI ELECTRICA – Fractious in the gates, turned its head slightly as the start was effected and slow to begin. Held up for a run from passing the 500m until approaching the 400m.
 
Race 2: INTERFACE LANDSCAPES MAIDEN PLATE         1200 M
 
INTRUDER – Bumped by WINCHMAN, which shifted in after being brushed by TORERA passing the 300m.
 
NATIONAL INTEREST – Slow to begin. When questioned regarding her riding of NATIONAL INTEREST between the 700m and the 400m, apprentice Champkin stated as the gelding was first up from a break, she was asked to ensure it races comfortably. She said the gelding was not traveling on the bit at this stage of the race and she was unaware she had lost touch with the body of the field. Upon reviewing the available footage, apprentice S. Champkin acknowledged she should have taken some action to get the gelding to respond, so that she could be placed closer to the body of the field, which would have allowed her mount every opportunity to avail runs as they presented.
 
WINCHMAN – Rider D. Turner reported the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages, but when asked for an effort on straightening, did not let down as expected and was disappointing. He added the gelding might have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
SAND 'N' POWER – When racing keenly near the 900m, shifted out abruptly away from the heels of HONEA, which also shifted ground in front. Ride J. Lloyd was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i) for using his whip on 2 consecutive occasions prior to the 100m.   
 
IT'S ALL CALM – Began awkwardly, shifting out and bumping INTRUDER, which shifted in. Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 3: RITCHIE BROTHERS MAIDEN HANDICAP         1800 M
 
VIKING BLOOD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore. Trainer J. Gilmore was advised the gelding will require a veterinary certificate prior to its next start.
 
CAESAR CAKE – Rider R. Wiggins reported the mare was proving difficult to settle and with the slow tempo in the early stages, he elected to ride forward and take the lead passing the 100m. Momentarily steadied passing the 50m when TWINKLE TIME (R Curatolo) crossed in front when not quite clear. Rider R Curatolo was advised to exercise more care.
 
DEEP DRIVE – Passing the 200m, steadied when tightened between FLYING ASTERN and KALKANLI, which rolled in.
 
TWINKLE TIME – Resaddled upon arrival at the barriers. Near the 100m, rider R. Curatolo momentarily lost the use of his near side rein.
 
DESERT ANGEL – Rider S. Cormack was reminded of his obligations regarding the raising of his whip arm above shoulder height approaching the 100m.
 
Race 4: DEMEX BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP         1800 M
 
GRIPPING – Raced 3-wide with cover throughout.
 
ONE THING COUNTS – Passing the 400m, contacted the hindquarters of GRIPPING after being tightened by DEVOCEAN (D. Turner), which was attempting to shift out. Rider D. Turner was notified to exercise greater care.
 
SCARLET PRINCE – Raced 3-wide without cover throughout.
 
PRADO – Bumped after the start by GUARDED OPTIMIST (NZ). When under pressure in the home straight, laid in.
 
DEVOCEAN (NZ) – For a short distance near the 800m, raced tight to the inside of SCARLET PRINCE.
 
HURRICANE ROSIE – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
Race 5: TERRECO RESOURCES CLASS 1 HANDICAP         1000 M
 
LUMENS LENNY – Raced wide early before being restrained to a midfield position.
 
DIBBA DOBBA – Held up for a run from 500m until approaching the 200m, where the mare was shifted in to obtain clear running. As a result, TOUTE SWEET was steadied. Rider R. Curatolo was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding.
 
APOLLO TEN – Held up for a run passing the 500m until the 400m.
 
PROCYON MISS – Near the 800m, bumped with BEE TWO.
 
THE NAKED LADY – Slow to begin and shortly after, tightened onto the heels of APOLLO TEN by DIBBA DOBBA, which shifted in away from TOUTE SWEET.
 
ZOUTHUR (NZ) – Raced 3-wide throughout.
 
MOUNT DOVE – Began awkwardly. Nearing the 350m, steadied when disappointed for a run between LIMAHULI and LUMENS LENNY, which shifted out slightly. For a short distance passing the 300M, was held up for a run between LIMAHULI and LUMENS LENNY, before shifting to the outside of LIMAHULI to obtain clear running.
 
TOUTE SWEET – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
BEE TWO – Near the 800m, bumped with PROCYON MISS.
 
Race 6: LANTRAK QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1000 M
 
MISHANI ROCK – When under pressure in the straight laid in.
 
STAR AMBITION – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Held up for a run from the 400m until passing the 300m. Rider S. Cormack reported that despite being held up on straightening, after obtaining clear running, the gelding did not let down as expected and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
 
MISHANI HITMAN – Passing the 800m, steadied when awkwardly placed between BONFIRE SPARK and STAR AMBITION, which shifted out when racing keenly.
 
READY TO IGNITE – Slow to begin. Raced wide 3-wide throughout.
 
BECCA – A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood at both nostrils. Trainer D. Vandyke was notified that in accordance with AR79(4), BECCA shall not without permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse, recognised training track, private training establishment, or other place for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of 3 months, and then only after: (i) a gallop of at least 1000 metres; or (ii) an official trial or jump-out; in the presence, and to the satisfaction of a Steward. 
 
RAMP IT UP – Shortly after the start, was bumped by BECCA, which shifted out after brushing the hindquarters of BONFIRE SPARK.
 
Race 7: RAW METAL OPEN HANDICAP       1000 M
 
AT WITZ END – Began awkwardly.
 
TECTONIC PLATE – Slow to begin. Raced 3-wide without cover throughout.
 
KINGSTON'S HERE – Held up for a run from approaching the 400m until near the 300m. Raced in restricted room to the inside of TECTONIC PLATE approaching the 100m. Passing the winning post, checked form heels of TECTONIC PLATE after being taken out by LA AMIGO, which had been tightened and carried out by KOTE, which shifted out away from the heels of FLAMING CONQUEST (Apprentice O. Kendal), which shifted out slightly. In all the circumstances, Apprentice O. Kendal was reprimanded AR131(a) for allowing her mount to shift out past the winning post.
 
RELIABLE RUBY (NZ) – A pre-race veterinary examination revealed a small abrasion to the near hind. On arriving at the gates was found to have blood on the near hind leg and on veterinary advice, was withdrawn at 6pm. On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on RELIABLE RUBY be refunded in full with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 6:00pm.

OUTWEIGHED – Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
KOTE – Hung out from the 500m until near the 300m. Approaching the winning post, raced in restricted room and was not ridden out fully over the final two strides. Trainer A Campton was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for its racing manners.
 
FLAMING CONQUEST – Cast near hind plate in running.
 
LA AMIGO – For some distance near the 300m, was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KOTE, which after hanging out, shifted back in slightly and tight to the outside of OUTWEIGHED, which shifted out slightly. In all the circumstances, no action was taken against any one rider. Apprentice R. Thorburn was fined the sum of $200 pursuant to AR211(1) for weighing in, in excess of a half kilogram over his declared weight.
 
 
Race 8: THANK YOU MICHAEL CAHILL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP       1200 M
 
ELECTED (IRE) – Raced 3-wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
 
MIO SORRENTO – Began awkwardly.
 
THE WOLF – Raced keenly in the early to middle stages.
 
DEMON DELIVERA – Rider M. Hellyer was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out to the finish, whenever possible.
 
ARANUI LASS (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Hampered near the 500m when BORN FEARLESS (J. Lloyd), shifted out abruptly to improve. Rider J. Lloyd was reprimanded pursuant to 131(a) for careless riding.
 
PARIS AFFAIR – When racing keenly shortly after the start, was tightened by THE WOLF (M. Cahill), which was shifting in. Rider M. Cahill was reprimanded pursuant to AR 131(a) for careless riding.
 
BORN FEARLESS – Shifted out abruptly near the 500m.
