GENERAL

Stewards approved the following overweight allowance at today’s meeting:
 
Race 1 – SHADES OF SUMMER – L. Tilley +1kg (56.5kg)
 
Trainer M. Dunn was fined $100 pursuant to LR68(1) for failing to scratch DEEP STEALTH from race 1 by the prescribed time.
 
Trainer I. Turner was fined $300 pursuant to LR36(6)(a) for failing to scratch dual acceptor BOOM COURT by the prescribed time.
 
The track was upgraded to a soft 6 prior to the running of race 1 at 12:25pm.
 
Race 1: AMALGAMATED GROUP MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

ZOUCHASE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and was bumped.
 
PEARL IN HAY – Approaching the 200m, disappointed for a run between ZOUCHASE and RARE AND RELIABLE, before being obliged to steady and shift wider to improve.
 
FANCI FLEUR – Raced wide throughout. Raced greenly and shifted in before being corrected leaving the 200m.
 
RARE AND RELIABLE (NZ) – Laid in marginally leaving the 200m. Laid out momentarily leaving the 100m.
 
SHADES OF SUMMER – Began awkwardly and then bumped shortly after. Raced wide throughout.
 
KICK AND RUN – Trainer C. Zintilis was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for being difficult to load. Bumped shortly after the start and then hampered and lost ground.
 
Following the running of race 1, the track was upgraded to a soft 5.
 
Race 2: TONY CARLTON BOOKMAKER 20 YEARS @ GCTC BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1000M

ZOURATA – Began awkwardly, bumped by RYLOV and was then hampered when awkwardly placed at heels of STAROSHKA which shifted in.
 
STAROSHKA – Stewards permitted the gelding to race without the nasal strip as it unable be fitted to the horse. Shifted in at the start. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Near the 200m, laid out and brushed RUBYDOO. Leaving the 100m, laid out and bumped RUBYDOO.
 
RYLOV – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped ZOURATA.
 
GREYZOUS – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
RUBYDOO – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, brushed and carried wider. Leaving the 100m, bumped by STAROSHKA.

Race 3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROSS COOK RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1000M

FLYING MILO – Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAKE IT SO – Jockey R. Wiggins reported his saddle shifted on the entrance to the home  straight, placing him at a disadvantage. Cast it’s off-hind plate in running.
 
MISS SHA BLUE – Near the 700m, bumped when racing in restricted room. On the entrance to the home straight, bumped by HIT which laid in. Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
HIT – Raced wide throughout. Laid in at the entrance to the home straight and bumped MISS SHA BLUE.
 
RUMI STAR – Raced greenly in the home straight.
 
VELVET – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 4: RPG AUSTRALIA SOCIAL CLUB BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 2230M

ROLLER COASTER (NZ) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from leaving the 900m.
 
DEVOCEAN (NZ) – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Near the 350m steadied from the heels of GIDDY GAN’S JOY which shifted in slightly.
 
SECURITY ADVISOR – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out over the concluding stages. Apprentice R. Thorburn was advised to stop and straighten his mounts when shifting ground.
 
GIDDY GAN'S JOY – Change of tactics, to be further forward. Ridden accordingly. Began awkwardly. Raced wide until the 1200m. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
RADEGAST (NZ) – Approaching the 400m, obliged to steady when DEVOCEAN (D. Turner) shifted out to improve. Jockey D. Turner was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Trainer N. Keal advised following today’s performance, it is the likely intention to send the gelding for a spell.
 
DECARBONISE – Approaching the 200m, raced in restricted room and was steadied.
 
FORUM ONE – Slow to begin.
 
BLUEPRINT – Approaching the 300m, improved onto heels and was obliged to ease and shift wider to secure clear running. Leaving the 100m, momentarily raced in restricted room.
 
CHIEF COMMAND – Raced wide in the early stages.

Race 5: STUART JAMES MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1800M

KOZANI – Shifted out shortly after the start.
 
RUSSIAN MYSTIC – Raced in restricted room approaching the home turn.
 
THE CLAIMANT – Blundered on jumping.
 
PRINCETON AWARD – Began awkwardly.
 
CONEY ISLAND BABY – A post-race veterinary examination revealed blood in the left nostril. Trainer H. Norman was advised that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to next racing. Trainer H. Norman advised Stewards that it is now the likely intention to give the gelding a freshen up.
 
IMEZAAKI (NZ) – Near the 1400m, severely tightened for room and taken in.
 
AUTUNNO – Slow to begin. Severely checked near the 1400m. At a subsequent inquiry, apprentice J. Williams, the rider of PRINCETON AWARD was found guilty of a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 1400m, after being ridden along to improve and shifting in at an acute angle, permitted his mount to shift in onto DROP THE PILOT (L. Tilley), causing that runner to be tightened, checked and taken in onto IMEZAAKI (S. Cormack), which was severely tightened and taken in onto AUTUNNO (M. Hellyer), resulting in it being tightened, severely checked and making heavy contact with the running rail, losing its position. Apprentice J. Williams’ license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 19 days to commence midnight 24th of February 2025 and to expire midnight 15th of March 2025.
 
TIGON PRINCESS – Hampered shortly after the start when KOZANI shifted out.
 
MILEY'S MEMORY – Raced wide until the 800m.
 
ARCHERS REIGN – Bumped shortly after the start.
 
DROP THE PILOT – Near the 1400m, tightened for room and checked. Laid in near the 150m.
 
PARCHEMIN – Made the crossing awkwardly at the 1400m and shifted in. Raced wide until the 1100m.

Race 6: COMMERCIAL KITCHEN COMPANY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE    1400M

Prior to the declaration of correct weight jockey R. Curatolo, rider of the 2nd placed FRATIANNO viewed the Stewards patrol footage of the home straight to ascertain if there were grounds for an objection. After viewing the footage, Jockey Curatolo elected not to proceed with an objection and correct weight was given.
 
BLACK ASSASSIN – Began awkwardly and then shortly after was tightened for room and bumped. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 200m was bumped.
 
DEEP FOCUS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and then shortly after was tightened for room. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
FRATIANNO – Raced wide throughout. Inconvenienced and bumped near the 200m. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey D. Turner, the rider of DEEP FOCUS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) in that near the 200m, he permitted his mount to shift out under riding, bumping with FRATIANNO, resulting in that runner becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of DEEP FOCUS and was taken out onto HE’SGOTTHESAY, placing that runner in awkward position. Jockey Turner’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 23rd of February 2025 and to expire midnight 2nd of March 2025.
 
HE'SGOTTHESAY – Tightened for room shortly after the start and was bumped. Raced wide throughout. Near the 200m, bumped, became unbalanced and lost ground when taken out by FRATIANNO which was taken wider by DEEP FOCUS.
 
HEAVENLY LOVE – Bumped on jumping.
 
SOUTHOFTHEBORDER – Near the 200m, steadied from the heels of TICKLE MY TOSEN (L. Rolls) which shifted in. Jockey L. Rolls was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
AVIOR – Tightened for room at the start. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
SPUNK POWER – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
CALL OUT – Bumped on jumping.
 
MAKEMINEMILO – Near the 200m, when under pressure and racing greenly, shifted out before being corrected by its rider.
 
Race 7: TAB WE'RE ON CLASS 2 PLATE 1400M

RAMPANT LION – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
TAREX (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
ALL ABOUT ARTIE – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
JENNI MOREESE – Raced keenly in the early stages. At the entrance to the home straight, momentarily steadied away from the heels of TAREX which shifted out before being corrected.
 
AIMA SUN – Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer A. Chau for the late rider change. Began awkwardly. Near the 1100m, steadied from the heels of ISLE ORNSAY (L. Dempsey) which shifted in when not fully clear. Jockey L. Dempsey was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Improved onto heels over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully tested to the line.
 
SUPERZOOM – Raced wide throughout. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
INTENTIONAL LASS – Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
Race 8: QUEENSLAND JEWEL RACEDAY 8TH MARCH BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1300M

MOST DAZZLING – Bumped on jumping.
 
SCUD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
DON'T BE DRAMATIC – Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid out rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight. On pulling up, blundered and dislodged apprentice J. Hampson. A post-race veterinary examination of DON’T BE DRAMATIC revealed no apparent abnormalities. Following this incident, Apprentice J. Hampson was assessed by the QAS officials and cleared of any injuries.
 
BETTER YET – Bumped on jumping.
 
ROSE OF SHIRAZ – Raced wide throughout.
 
DUNTROON LASS – Began awkwardly. Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
BANDIT – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DON’T BE DRAMATIC. Apprentice J. McMurray reported his mount may have not appreciated todays track conditions. Trainer M. Lakey reported post-race the gelding had bled from one-nostril. Trainer M. Lakey was advised that the gelding would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to next racing.
 
SINGULAR – Raced wide throughout.
