SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
MACKAY TURF CLUB TUESDAY, 22 DECEMBER 2009
RACE 6 WHOT’S HOT FASHION OPEN HANDICAP- 1500 metres
Jockey R. Hall pleaded guilty to breaches of ARR 137A 5 a (i) & (ii) in that when he rode ORPEN LOVE he used his whip in a forehand manner on more that 5 occasions & in consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres. Jockey Hall was fined a total of $400.
CALLIOPE JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 26 DECEMBER 2009
Race 5 CALLIOPE RURAL TRADERS GOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP- 1072 metres
Trainer M. Stafford was advised that RING RING would be required to complete a barrier jump-out prior to its next race start.
Race 1: General Nediym Class 3 Plate- 1194 metres
1st – SUPER STROP 2nd – ROYAL COUNSEL 3rd – ROCKIN ROD 4th – ZAHOO
BOSSIE BOY (J. Stephens) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after lost some ground when buffeted between ZAHOO (T. Bannon) and ROCKIN ROD (App. C Pye).
ZAHOO was inclined to hang out in the early stages.
SUPER STROP (M. Cant) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Mimi Lebrock Class B Handicap- 1000 metres
1st - IMA COOL DUDE 2nd – CRAIGLEA ICE 3rd – TOP PICK 4th – EL KHARTUM
Jockey J. Stephens reported FLASH OF KINTYRE slipped behind on jumping away.
At approximately the 900 metres, SUPASTAR GIRL (T. O’Hara) had to be checked when MR. MARMAY (A. Coome) which was in restricted room, rolled out slightly and CRAIGLEA ICE (R. Faehr) shifted inwards. Jockey R. Faehr was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.
Near the 800 metres, EL KHARTUM (App. C. Pye) was steadied from the heels of IMA COOL DUDE (App A Taylor) which had shifted out marginally.
From approximately the 200 metres, CRAIGLEA ICE was inclined to lay in behind IMA COOL DUDE and was unable to be ridden out in a proper manner.
Trainer N. Boyle reported EL KHARTUM had lost its near fore plate.
Jockey C. Beets became indisposed when injured in the enclosure subsequent to this event and riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary. Jockey Beets was directed to supply a medical certificate before his next riding engagements.
Race 3: Dance Hero QTIS Maiden Plate - 850 metres
1st - MIDNIGHT SURRENDER 2nd – PRINCESS CRYSTAL 3rd – OUR ZIGGY 4th – GYPSY STORM
The start of this race was delayed as some runners had been placed in the incorrect barriers and necessitated the removal and replacement of these runners in the correct position.
MIDNIGHT SURRENDER (S. Evans) was difficult to load.
CRAIGLEA EDGE (A. Coome) was slow away.
OUR ZIGGY (M. Cullen) jumped inwards onto MIDNIGHT SURRENDER which was taken in onto GYPSY STORM (T. Bannon).
At approximately the 800 metres, PRINCE PIERCE (M. Barnham) laid in momentarily. At this time, LOCHHEAD (M. Cant) threw its head in the air when restrained, raced erratically for a short distance and lost ground. Jockey M. Cant reported when placed at the rear of the field he had limited visibility and shifted the mare wider on the track for the remainder.
At approximately the 700 metres, DIESEL (T. O’Hara) was steadied when unable to hold its position to the inside of I’M COOL TOO (App. C. Pye), which was racing erratically, and shifted out to improve. At approximately the 600 metres, I’M COOL TOO lost ground of its own accord, shifted ground, and caused DIESEL was further inconvenienced.
AVYA XENA (R. Hall) and PRINCESS PIERCE (M. Barnham) raced wide throughout.
AVYA XENA hung out around the home turn.
At approximately the 150 metres, MIDNIGHT SURRENDER shifted out under pressure and SEETHROUGH (D. Simmons) was steadied away from its heels.
Race 4: Regimental Gal Open Handicap- 1194 metres
1st – TRY SOME MAGIC 2nd – JYI’S PROSPECT 3rd – TOP’S LAD 4th – LADY IN SILK
FORTY EIGHT CRASH (App. C. Pye) was slow away.
JYI’S PROSPECT (M. Cullen) raced wide for majority of the event.
At approximately the 250 metres, Jockey R. Faehr (TRY SOME MAGIC) dropped his whip.
A post-race veterinary inspection of STIRLING failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer T. Cook was of the opinion that the gelding may not have handled the sand surface.
Race 5: Phelan Ready Class 2 Handicap- 1517 metres
1st - FLAMING NOTE 2nd – HEZURRABOY 3rd – DANDY KAT 4th – BELLA PRINCIPESSA
Stewards advised Trainer R Vale’s representative a $50 fine would be imposed for late declaration of rider for DANDY KAT.
GINGERNUTS (R. Hall) jumped awkwardly and lost some ground.
FLAMING NOTE (App A Taylor) and JUSTILLA (P. Randall) raced wide in the early stages.
SUTTON PRINCE (M. Cullen) raced wide throughout.
When questioned regarding the performance of TUSCANY AFFAIR, Jockey A. Coome reported the gelding had travelled well throughout and was placed under pressure from approximately the 700 metres and ran on only fairly.
Jockey Coome was reminded of his obligations relating to use of the whip on a horse out of contention and not improving its position.
