Race 1: BOC Gas & Gear Class 1 Handicap - 850 metres
1st –NORTHERN SHIFT 2nd – MARTY 3rd – MACHO CAT 4th- BLACK POINT

MACHO CAT (N. Patchett) was a little slow to begin.

BERRYBEAR (App K Gates) was slow to begin.

Jockey S Evans reported LICK EM LOLLY had slipped on jumping and had begun awkwardly.

Stewards sought an explanation for the performance of BERRYBEAR. App K Gates stated that after being slow to begin, the gelding had raced further back in the field than expected and the gelding had resented the sand kickback, however had found the line well.

Race 2: BMD Constructions Class 5 Handicap - 1000 metres
1st – TROPIC GEM 2nd – FLETCH 3rd – RARE FIND 4th – FOMALSTAR

The explanation for the late rider declaration of L. Dillon on FLETCH was accepted.

Stewards declared ARCUP a late scratching at 11.50am when found to be lame in the near foreleg on arrival at the race course. Trainer C Garland was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required prior to its next race start.

LIBERTY’S MAGIC (T. O’Hara) began awkwardly and was further hampered and lost ground when FLETCH jumped inwards.

FLETCH and RARE FIND (App A Kitson) raced wide throughout.


Race 3: Empire Engineering QTIS Maiden Plate (Div 1)- 1000 metres
1st – ZABOMB 2nd – AZAHARA 3rd – DANE FIRE 4th – DUAN THEO

MY ONLY OPTION (S. McGovern) was slow to begin.

DANE FIRE (T. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.

A post-race veterinary inspection of MY ONLY OPTION revealed the colt to be lame in the near foreleg with a suspected tendon injury. A veterinary certificate of fitness will be required prior to its next race start.

Race 4: Empire Engineering QTIS Maiden Plate (Div 2)- 1000 metres
1st –ARRESTEDFORHUNTING 2nd – THE ALAMO 3rd – ROYAL FUSILIER 4th – NARIPSA

THE ALAMO (S. Evans) jumped awkwardly out onto ROYAL FUSILIER (D. Philpot) which made contact with HAZY HUNTER (D. Whitmore).

HAZY HUNTER and COPY THIS (A. Coome) raced wide throughout.

Near the 250 metres, ARRESTFORHUNTING (L. Dillon) rolled out slightly and bumped NARIPSA (J. Stephens) which become unbalanced.

Race 5: Home Ground Villages Celebration Open Handicap- 1194 metres
1st – BLAZE TO FORTUNE 2nd – WHITE CAP 3rd – DIRECT DEBIT 4th – TEDDY BARE

TEDDY BARE (T. O’Hara) began awkwardly and lost some ground.

Race 6: Shadforths Civil Construction Class b Handicap- 1194 metres
1st – SINDIBAD 2nd – RED ERIC 3rd – AL GHAZI 4th – SILENT CHARADES

The explanation regarding Jockey N. Patchett being dually engaged was accepted. L. Dillon was the replacement rider for AL GHAZI.

On arrival behind the barriers, JOSIE’S WELL underwent a veterinary inspection, and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 4.02pm on veterinary advice, when found to aggravated a laceration under its jaw.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all bets on JOSIE’S WELL be refunded, with the following deductions on successful bets being;

SINDIBAD 0c win 3c place
RED ERIC 3c place
AL GHAZI 6c place

CLAIR DU MONDE (J. Stephens) blundered badly on jumping. In regard to its performance, Jockey Stephens stated the filly had handled the sand surface, however resented being crowded inside other runners near the 1000 metres and had failed to travel well from that point. Connections indicated the filly may now be sent for a spell.

ARCANO (D. Philpot) jumped in onto DUNCAN (D. Whitmore) and when restrained, commenced to over race in the early stages.

BELLA CIELO (S. Evans) and KYEEBI CASHEL (S. McGovern) raced wide throughout.

In regard to the performance of DUNCAN, Jockey Whitmore stated that from the approximately the 1000 metres the gelding had not handled the sand surface and was under pressure and failed to travel well for the remainder of the race.

Race 7: Total Eden DM 65 Handicap- 1517 metres
1st – OVERBOARD 2nd – RED DORF 3rd – DONOSTIA 4th – PHIL DOESN’T CARE

On being placed in the barrier, FICKLE BUSINESS reared and dislodged the rider. Jockey McGovern underwent an inspection by the on course ambulance officers and was satisfied to ride in the race.

FICKLE BUSINESS began awkwardly and lost some ground.

RYTARGA (N. Patchett) and PHIL DOESN’T CARE (L. Dillon) raced wide throughout.

Jockey McGovern underwent a further medical examination following this race and no significant issues were observed.
