Race 3: Park Street News QTIS Class 1 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – FRENCH GARRISON 2nd – VIV’S CHARM 3rd – WISEGUY 4th – DISTORTED CROWN

Correct weight was delayed as Jockey A. Coome wished to view the patrol film of the start to ascertain if he had ground to lodge an objection against the winner or second placegetter. After doing so, Jockey Coome did not wish to proceed and correct weight was declared.

Shortly after the start, RHINO (D. Evans) lay in and away from VIV’S CHARM (S. McGovern) and inconvenienced WISEGUY (A. Coome).

In the straight, VIV’S CHARM laid in.

Regarding the performance of RHINO, Jockey D. Evans stated the gelding began well, however when hampered, lost ground and resented the kick back on the sand surface. Jockey Evans further stated that when placed under pressure from the 400 metres, RHINO has responded to his riding and found the line well.

When Jockey L Dillon was unavailable due to personal reasons, and no other senior rider was available, App A Kitson was permitted to ride DISCO LEMONADE.

After being loaded, LADY OAKS (C. Pye) was fractious and broke through riderless and went over the outside running rail. On being re-captured, the mare underwent a veterinary inspection which revealed some swelling in the near hind leg. Acting on veterinary advice, Stewards declared LADY OAKS a late scratching at 4.31pm. On the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on LADY OAKS were ordered to be refunded and deductions of 5c Win and 6c Place to be applied to winning bets.

DON’T TELL ALI (S. McGovern) was slow to begin as a result of the barrier being slower to open. Jockey McGovern and Stewards viewed the available vision prior to correct weight, and Jockey McGovern was satisfied not to make an application to be declared a non-runner.

Near the 1000 metres, DISCO LEMONADE (A Kitson) lay out slightly and was steadied from the heels of AFRICAN GEM (T. O’Hara).

AFRICAN GEM raced wide throughout.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
