Race 1: Scotties Restaurant QTIS Maiden Plate - 1100 metres
BASILISK - Appeared to resent the sand kickback for the majority of the race.
INFINITE MISS - Slow into stride and hampered when KING PEM jumped outwards and raced ungenerously shortly after the start.
EKKAREEZA - Raced wide early.
COWBOY'S GIRT - Dipped shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
CHIEF HUNTER - Raced wide for the majority of the event.
Following the race Jockey S. McGovern reported that he had aggravated an injury to his right knee and was unable to fulfil his further engagements. Substitutions were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey McGovern was advised that he must furnish a medical clearance prior to being permitted to ride again.
Race 2: Wayne Wilson Memorial BM 60 Handicap- 1000 metres
FLETCH - Bled from nearside nostril. Confirmed by veterinary surgeon. Ordered to gallop over at least 1000 metres prior to next race start.
WILLIE'S CLOUDS - Was slow to begin. Post-race vet exam did not reveal any significant abnormalities.
ZIP ZIP GIRL - Raced wide throughout.
SUPERB EFFORT - Raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Lisa Ralph Class B Handicap- 1194 metres
LADY OAKS - Was difficult to load into the barriers. A warning was placed on horse's barrier manners.
INTRUDING - Rider reported that in the middle stages his mount resented sand kickback and lost ground.
SPOOKY MOO - Raced wide throughout.
LET THE CHIPS FALL - Raced wide throughout.
Race 4: Crown Lager Gladstone Newmarket Open Handicap- 1194 metres
EL SUPREMO - Began awkwardly.
CHIAROSCURO - Was slow to begin and raced wide throughout.
STAY THE NIGHT - Approaching the 1000 metres commenced to race ungenerously and laid out until near 700 metres and was shifted wider on the track, where it raced for the remainder of the event. Rider said that the sand kickback may have contributed to the horse's racing manners.
Race 5: Carlton Mid Gladstone Cup Open Handicap- 1608 metres
IMA PEARCE - Raced wide throughout.
INTERVIEW - Raced wide throughout.
KLITSCHKO - Raced wide throughout.
BRILLANCONI - Rider questioned regarding performance stated he intended to lead and was able to do so easily. However, when he placed his mount under pressure from the 500 metres BRILLANCONI commenced to yield ground. Rider further stated the horse had travelled well however may not have been comfortable with the sand surface. Post-race veterinary inspection no abnormalities.
Race 6: Conoco Phillips BM 55 Handicap- 1517 metres
EDGEROI HOPE - At the start shifted in onto FOMALSTAR, which was a little slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
FOMALSTAR - A little slow to begin.
SOUTHSIDE - Raced wide throughout.
Trainer C. Garland will be cautioned regarding his negligence in saddling, in that a towel with which Jockey Gates had weighed out was left off the horse's gear.
