Race 2: Total Eden QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m SWEET NOTE Raced wide throughout. On return to the enclosure, it had sustained a small laceration to the off fore leg. SERIOUS CAPER Raced wide throughout. ISIS DE VEGA Raced wide throughout. Race 3: Wayne Wilson Memorial Benchmark 60 Handicap 1000m FLY ENVY The explanation with regard to the late declaration of rider was accepted. Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed the horse was lame in the near fore and a veterinary certificate will be required prior to its next start.. OUR CAPTION As Jockey Barnham was to be overweight, he was replaced with App. E Smith as no other senior rider was available. Jockey Barnham was fined $100. Slow to begin and tailed the field in the early and middle stages. When questioned, App. Smith stated that it had taken until near the 850 metres to balance the horse up and when placed under pressure from the 600 metres, commenced to make ground and made significant ground over the concluding stages. HUNCHA DUNCHA Slow to begin. FRENCH FLAME Jockey T Chambers was fined $200 for the use of her whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100 metres. Race 4: Departure Point Gladstone Newmarket Open Handicap 1194m HUMANISE Slow to begin. JEBBS BOY Slow to begin and hampered by runners either side, which shifted ground. JAMES IS BLONDE Difficult to load. GLENTHORN AVENUE Slow to begin and raced wide without cover throughout. DUAM MAJOR Near the 1000 metres when BETTER IDEA rolled out momentarily, was placed in restricted room and dipped. Race 5: Carlton Mid Gladstone Cup Open Handicap 1608m UNCANNY REASON Raced keenly until near the 1000m. TIVERTON Raced wide throughout. Race 6: Roderick Water BenchMark 50 Handicap 1517m NEVAEH Broke through the barriers and was quickly restrained and replaced in the barriers. KOOROC Reared and became momentarily cast. Was removed and underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to take its place in the field. Slow to begin. CRAIGLEA COPPER Leaving the 1200m, GAS BURNER shifted in momentarily and caused KURAMOS to be taken inwards and cause CRAIGLEA COPPER to be tightened, steadied and lose ground, Jockey G Steele was reprimanded for this incident.
