Race 1: Matty Peters On The Bit BenchMark 55 Handicap 850m

WORTH THE TIME – Delayed the start when the gelding had to be resaddled behind the barriers. Bumped on jumping and shortly after was tightened and lost ground. Shifted out abruptly near the 500 metres to avoid the kick back.

BAGGER NEMO – Shifted out on jumping.

MORE WORLDLY – Bumped on jumping. Shifted in under pressure for a short distance in the early stages of the home straight.

NEED FINANCE – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

WARNERS LANDING – Laid in from near the 200 metres until near the 100 metres.

EGYPTIAN BEAR – Jockey J Stanley reported that the mare did not handle the tight home turn.

Race 2: Williams Grader Hire QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m

The start was delayed when a section of rail near the 100 metres was dislodged by RED SMOKE.

QUATRO AMIGOS – Extremely reluctant to leave the enclosure. Stewards permitted the removal of the blinkers from the gelding. Raced wide without cover throughout.

RED SMOKE – Began awkwardly and bumped on jumping. Raced three wide with cover throughout. Ran about in the home straight proving difficult to ride out.

LA CELESTINA – Bumped on jumping. Raced three wide without cover throughout.

TOP KNOT - Shifted out near the 600 metres to avoid the kick back. Continued to climb in its action.

Race 3: Cat Rental Store Class B Handicap 1194m

LADYADA – Began awkwardly. Shifted out on a number of occasions under hard riding in the home straight. App. N Seymour was reminded of her obligation to keep her mount straight when using the whip.

FOUR DREAMS – Slow to begin.

BIG SHAKA – Slow to begin. Raced three wide without cover. Inconvenienced momentarily near the 200 metres when LADYADA shifted out.

FADING MIST – Jockey G Steele reported that her saddle slipped on jumping.

RIVERINA GOLD – Resented the kick back for a short distance near the 1000 metres.

Race 4: Greg McCann Memorial/2019 TAB Battle of the Bush Gladstone Qualifier Open Sprint Plate 1194m

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow App. N Seymour the rider of JOMAR’S ELEMENT to view the available patrol film. After doing so, App Seymour elected not to continue with an objection.

MYSTIC FORCES – Stewards permitted Jockey A Butler to ride the gelding 5 kilograms overweight. In arriving at this decision, Stewards considered the nature of the event and the unavailability of another rider. Tightened and lost ground at the start.

FAB’S COWBOY – Shifted in on jumping making heavy contact with DAWN FIGHTER.

DAWN FIGHTER – Tightened and lost ground on jumping.

MALIBU – Bumped on jumping.

WICKED EXPRESS – Raced four wide without cover throughout.

AL’S BRIEFS – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

JOMAR’S ELEMENT – Steadied near the 250 metres when MALIBU AFFAIR rolled in momentarily.

Race 5: QLD Country Racing BenchMark 60 Handicap 1517m

MUSTARRID – As the gelding was a late scratching at Mackay 16/04/19, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Upon arriving at the barriers, underwent another veterinary examination at the request of the rider and subsequently scratched on veterinary advice when the gelding was found to be lame in the near fore leg at 4:15pm with the following deductions applicable.

35 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets
30 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets

Trainer O Cairns was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again and that the results of an x-ray be forwarded to Stewards.

No racing incidents.
