As Jockey M Stephens was not riding at today’s meeting due to illness, rider replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Jockey Stephens was advised that he would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again.
 
Race 1: XXXX Gold Class B Handicap 850m
 
The start of this event was delayed due to an issue with the photo finish equipment.
 
Stewards were notified of the late arrival of Pretty Ricky on Course. Trainer Mr K Smyth advised stewards that he was delayed by 5mins due to transport difficulties. Trainer K Smyth was reminded of his obligation to notify stewards if he is delayed and Pretty Ricky was post raced swabbed.
 
FADING MIST – As there was no other rider available, Jockey D Simmons was permitted to ride the mare 1kg overweight. Jockey Simmons was reprimanded for being overweight. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
FLOOSY TOP – Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ISIS JECTALE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
ABSOLUTE BONZA – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA ALTONA – Rider reported that the colt hung out rounding the home turn.
 
Race 2: Summer Bright QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m
 
After Stewards were made aware by Jockey J Missen that he would be unable to ride CRAIGLEA TOPAZ at the allotted weight, Stewards permitted Jockey R Faehr rider of CRAIGLEA OSCAR and Jockey J Missen, with the permission of Trainer K Johnston, to switch mounts so that both horses could be ridden at their allotted weights.
 
RURAL REBEL – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA TOPAZ – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
THE CAP – Tightened and checked shortly after the start. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
CRAIGLEA OSCAR – Shifted out on jumping. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
LA REMINISTA – Bumped outwards at the start by CRAIGLEA OSCAR. Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 3: Rum City Foods Wayne Wilson Memorial BenchMark 60 Handicap 1000m
 
EXSTRATUM – Began awkwardly.
 
ROSINCA – Began awkwardly.
 
BIG BRITCHES – Began awkwardly and tightened on jumping.
 
BRUTAL BABE – Began awkwardly and got its head up at the start. Shifted in shortly after. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils. As this was the first time the mare had bled, Trainer S Rundle was advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and must gallop over 1000 metres to the satisfaction of Stewards.
 
Race 4: Diceys Bar and Grill Gladstone Newmarket Open Handicap 1194m
 
SHIGERU MAHOGANY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
RAGAZZO DEL CORSA – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
Race 5: James Boags BenchMark 55 Handicap 1517m
 
THE DECKERAIDER – Stewards permitted Jockey D Simmons to ride a half kilogram overweight.
 
GOLD CROWN – Stood flat footed and missed the start a significant distance. Trainer’s representative M Johnson was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards.
 
AUSSIE TYCOON – Slow to begin.
 
WARNERS LANDING – Slow to begin.
 
MURPHY’S HUSTLER – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
GOING TO VEGAS – A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 6: Iron Jack Gladstone Cup Open Handicap 1608m
 
KALANGADOO CHROME – Refused to jumped and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer M Attard was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
POTEMKIN – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
