SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

GENERAL:

Stewards authorised the late scratching’s in Race 2 due to the shortage ofriders as per the stewards raceday summary.

TAVI MCBRIDE, JAY JAY and GLADISHING were all examined pre-race by the veterinarian after racing at Rockhampton the previous day and cleared to race.

Apprentice rider A Ross was reprimanded pursuant to AR143(14)(a) for being unable to claim her full claim on some of her mounts today. Stewards took into consideration her previous good record and that she has had a brief respite from raceday riding and lack of recent track work. Ms Ross further advised she would be reassessing her declared riding weight with the intention to increase it.

Apprentice rider J Molloy was reprimanded for failing to produce his apprentice jockeys record book under AR 143(12)(b).

Race 1: BYRON BAY BREWERY RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 HANDICAP - 1517M

DELIUS – impeded briefly near the 250m by the tiring TAVI MCBRIDE. Rider C Small advised DELIUS felt flat throughout the race.

TAVI MCBRIDE – when questioned regarding the performance of TAVI MCBRIDE rider A Ross advised the gelding felt flat throughout and in her opinion failed to back up from the previous days race. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed no obvious abnormalities other than a slow post-race recovery.

CENTAUR – fractious in the barrier.

REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Apprentice rider T Townsend advised the gelding was flat throughout the race and in her opinion failed to handle the sand track.

Race 2: MERRY XMAS FROM GTC CLASS B HANDICAP - 1000M

TINDER – rider S Wiseman advised that TINDER failed to handle the sand track conditions.

FLASH HOMBRE – raced four wide outside the lead throughout. Trainer G Bell advised she had instructed rider T Townsend to attempt to go forward and lead if possible. Stewards questioned apprentice rider T Townsend regarding the tactics she adopted during the race. She confirmed she was instructed to lead if possible and when she was unable to reach the lead, she elected to remain four wide as she felt by restraining her mount and receiving kickback from the sand would have been more detrimental to her chances. The Stewards noted her comments with no further action required.

DIRT RICH – reluctant to load.

MISS NASTY – raced three wide on the pace throughout. Raced greenly in the home straight when under pressure.

PERFECT SAGA – stood flat footed and missed the start by several lengths with a warning being placed on the mare’s barrier manners.

MUIRON – raced three wide throughout. Made the bend awkwardly near the 300m.

JAY JAY – galloped on near the 650m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to both hind legs.
