Apprentice S Nielson was fined $200 under AR143(14)(a) when unable to claim her full allowance in Race 1 (JUST FRANK less 0.5 kg) & Race 5 (MARTO less 1.0 kg) and was to be over-weight in Race 2 (JAEBEEZ ALDENTE plus 1.5 kg).

Race 1 - BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (850 METRES)

QUEEN DEE – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Rider T Chambers reported in her opinion the horse is better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today.

MISS RINEHART – Fractious leaving the enclosure.  On pulling up the saddle on the horse shifted forward, and as a result rider B Johnson dismounted from MISS RINEHART which returned to the enclosure riderless.  Raced wide for the majority of the event.

Race 2 - QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 METRES)

JAEBEEZ ALDENTE – Rider S Nielson reported the horse failed to handle the sand track conditions adding that JAEBEEZ ALDENTE would, in her opinion, be better suited to races over a longer distance than that of today.

ROUND THE FIRE – Taken wider rounding the home turn.  Raced wide throughout.

QUEEN BEAN – Slow to begin.  Laid out rounding the home turn.

SMART RUBICK – Taken wider rounding the home turn.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.  Approaching the finish line raced in restricted room between QUEEN BEAN and ETHELDA.

ETHELDA – Taken wider rounding the home turn.  Raced wide throughout.

Race 3 - BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1000 METRES)

Correct weight was delayed allowing T Leslight, rider of third place-getter FINESSE TESS, to view the patrol footage in the early stages of the event.  After doing so he elected to take the matter no further and correct weight was declared on semaphored placings.

CUBIX – Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 4 - OPEN Handicap (1194 METRES)

FAB’S COWBOY – Raced wide in the early stages.

CENTAUR – Slow to begin

Race 5 - BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1517 METRES)

MARTO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

TRUST IN ALOHA – Raced wide for the majority of the event.

DECK OF ACES – Jumped in at the start and bumped STRAITOUTTAHARLEM.

STRAITOUTTAHARLEM – Bumped at the start.  When leading the event jumped the winning post shadow on the first occasion near the 1300 metres.  Finished a considerable distance behind the main body of the field.  Rider B Johnson reported after leading and then being crossed by other runners at the 500 metres, the horse failed to respond to her riding from that point and was disappointing, adding the horse would derive fitness benefit from today’s run.   A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality other than a slow post-race recovery.  Trainer D McKinnon was advised a warning would be placed on STRAITOUTTAHARLEM for poor performance.

GALVARINO – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
