Race 1:SMALL MOTOR SERVICE CLASS B HANDICAP 850 METRES
 
ETHELDA – Jockey G Steele replaced App. B Moffat, who suffered an injury the previous day at the Mount Isa race meeting, as there were no other apprentice riders available. Slow to begin. Jockey G Steele reported that her mount failed to gather any early speed before finishing the event well.
 
SCRUFF’N’STUFF – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Cast the off fore plate in running.
 
RUSSIAN WHISPER – Floundered at the start and began awkwardly.
 
LAST LAUGH – Checked near the 300 metres when racing in restricted room with RUSSIAN WHISPER to the inside which shifted in slightly and SCRUFF ‘N’ STUFF to the outside which shifted out slightly. Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that either rider was solely at fault and accordingly, advised App. S Blunt, App. B Johnson and App. S Willis to exercise greater care in the circumstances.
 
 
Race 2:HAHN SUPER DRY MAIDEN PLATE1194 METRES
 
CENTRE STRIKER – Began to weaken from near the 800 metres and finished the event well back. Jockey G Steele reported that her mount was inclined to hang out for most of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer I Jackson will be advised that the gelding must trail to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
MUZZEDSO (NZ) – Raced three wide without cover throughout. App. B Johnson reported that her mount hung out from the start until a point nearing the 800 metres.
 
AVID DIVA – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
BODY AND SOUL – Raced four wide with cover throughout.
 
REBEL’S DAUGHTER – App. S Blunt replaced App. B Moffat. Slow to begin.
 
Race 3:WAYNE WILSON MEMORIAL QTIS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000 METRES
 
SIMPLY BETTER – Slow to begin. Raced four wide with cover throughout.
 
DAUNTING PRINCESS – Declared a late scratching at 10am due to no available rider.
 
JELLISHOT – Raced five wide without cover throughout.
 
TOY BLAZE – Declared a late scratching at 2:26pm when the mare refused to load. Stewards ordered that all wagers on TOY BLAZE be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:
 
10 cents in the dollar for the winner
10 cents in the dollar for the second-place getter
 
Stewards advised Trainer L Petersen that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record. In determining that a warning was appropriate, Stewards considered the mare’s record and the explanation provided by Jockey N Summers as to why the mare refused to load.

STARSONIC – Blundered very badly on jumping. Over raced for a short distance passing the finishing post on the first occasion.
