RACE 1: COOREYS/BISHOPS/ALLENS PHARMACY MAIDEN PLATE – 900M
STALKERS INTENT and PRINCE ANTIBES were both slow to begin.
CANNY COSTYA raced wide during the early stages.
Connections of WACK, which hung out throughout, were advised that a warning would be placed on that filly.
RACE 2: MAIN STREET TRADERS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1000M
MISTER GEE, PEDRO’S KNOWLEDGE and ESCUDE were all slow to begin.
When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of SAPPHIRE PEAK, trainer J Crompton stated she had taken the Norton bit off the horse for todays’ event and this gear change coupled with riding instructions being more strictly adhered to had resulted in a more forward showing. Explanation noted.
RACE 3: NORCO MILK GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN H’CAP – 1400m
LAWINA was slow to begin.
IT’S VOLCANIC, which was slow to begin, was tightened for room at the start between MONEE LANE and BISHOP BILL, which shifted in.
IT’S VOLCANIC and LAWINA both raced wide throughout.
RACE 4: BULMERS/CAMPBELLS FUELS/GNDI ENGINEERING/TOMS TARPS CLASS B H’CAP – 1400M
SUI SUI, SUPER ROTATION and LEA’S LAD were all slow to begin.
DANGEROUS CENT had difficulty obtaining clear running over the concluding stages.
DANGEROUS CENT was obliged to ease from the heels of ASCIX on a number of occasions when that gelding commenced to lose ground from the 1000m. T O’Hara, the rider of ASCIX stated that the horse appeared not to handle the dirt track and was quite disappointing. Connections gave an undertaking to inform stewards should anything come to light in the coming days.
A post race vet examination of HARBORD, which commenced to lose ground quickly from the 700m, found the horse to be suffering from a respiratory infection. Connections were advised that the horse would be required to be scoped and a vet certificate would be required prior to next start.
RACE 5: XXXX/COMBINED HOTELIERS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
SHAMROCK DUKE and KEOAMOR were both slow to begin.
LOVE BEATS ALL was severely hampered and lost considerable ground at the start when MARK OF ZORRO shifted out abruptly.
Leaving the 1100m, EVORG was hampered when GYPSY’S PRIDE shifted in.
Leaving the 1000m, EASE THE FREEZE was inclined to shy away from the change in surface from the grass of the Shute to the dirt of the course proper.
