Due to weather reports forecasting storms for the late afternoon, the scheduled starting times were amended as follows: Race 2 – 2.35pm; Race 3 – 3.05pm; Race 4 – 3.35pm; Race 5 – 4.10pm.


Race 1: ‘HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY MAC ZIMMERMAN’/FINANCIAL SERVICES BENCHMARK 65 HCAP - 1400m

The announcement of correct weight was delayed to allow App. B. Newport, rider of the second placegetter, the opportunity to view the photo finish image. After viewing the image he was satisfied with the result and correct weight was declared on the judge’s placings.

MOUNT STANLEY – Slow to begin then trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer V. Heading was advised that the gelding must trial to stewards’ satisfaction prior to its next race start.

COVER UP – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Steadied from heels when overracing near the 1100m.

EASY TO SMILE – Steadied from heels near the 1000m when the pace slackened.

BACKSTREET JACK – Raced wide throughout.

DUNGIVEN (NZ) – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: GOONDIWINDI INDUSTRIAL SUPPLIES CLASS 1 HCAP – 1200m

EXCEEDINGLY BAY – Reluctant to proceed to the barriers. Trainer G. Arnold was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s pre-race behaviour. Raced three wide throughout. App. B. Newport reported that the mare was inclined to hang out throughout the event.

AUBREY’S ACE – Began awkwardly.

HAVEAGUESS – Began awkwardly and shifted out.

IMA BRONZE – Steadied from heels near the 1000m.

ROCK RIGHT ON – Raced wide rounding the home turn and in the home straight.


Race 3: INGLEWOOD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CUP OPEN HCAP – 1200m

WRITTENINTHERAIN – Inclined to hang in the early stages. App. R. Payne reported the gelding made contact with the barriers on jumping away. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.


Race 4: COMBINED HOTELIERS MAIDEN SET WEIGHT PLATE – 1200m

ALLEZ CHARLIE – Bumped at the start.

FIELDS OF OXLEY - Bumped at the start.

POET LAUREATE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

LOOK I’M DANCING – Improved onto heels and was steadied near the 400m.

STARLET WARRIOR – Performed below market expectations. When questioned, App. M. Schrapel reported that the filly did not handle today’s soft track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.


Race 5: GOONDIWINDI MAIN STREET/HOSPITALITY OUTLETS BENCHMARK 65 HCAP – 1000m

SARSGHI – Bumped at the start.

ELLO ELLO – Bumped at the start.

AWESOME SIGHT – Steadied and shifted wider to improve near the 400m.
