RACE 1: QUBE PORTS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP STARGRILL BOY – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice B. Nothdurft became unbalanced rounding the home turn. JORJA’S JET – Began awkwardly. CHARZOOKA – Shifted in at the start. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages. COVER UP – Began awkwardly, making contact with a runner to the outside. GIRLS SAY – Began awkwardly, continuing to shift out over the early stages. DESTINY’S DESIRE – Declared a late scratching at 11:35am due to no rider being available. RACE 2: WAGNERS MAIDEN PLATE STARSPEED – The start of this race was delayed when the mare became fractious in the mounting yard, dislodging its rider (Jockey S. Apthorpe) on multiple occasions. STARSPEED was declared a late scratching at 1:07pm by order of the Stewards. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on the horse were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable. 8 cents in the dollar for the Winner #715 cents in the dollar for place of winner #76 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #516 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #3 Trainer S. McEwan was advised that the mare would be required to undergo an official barrier trial prior to racing again. FRIKLETON – Began awkwardly. KAPACHINO MISS – Began awkwardly, making contact with another runner to the inside. THE SPIRIT OF JAZZ - Began awkwardly, making contact with a runner to the outside at the start. THAT’S HER I THINK – Raced wide over the concluding stages. RACE 3: INTERLINK BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP STRATEGIC WEAPON – Blundered at the start. SQUEEMI – Raced ungenerously throughout the middle stages. EXTRA SHOT – Jumped out at the start making contact with a runner to the outside. WHISPERING WINGS – Made contact with another runner to the inside at the start. THE ROBBER – Slow to begin. RACE 4: GRAINCORP CLASS B HANDICAP FASSLER – Bumped at the start by another runner to the outside. SO CHOOSY – Raced wide from the middle stages. RIDDLING MISS – Jumped in at the start making contact with another runner. BANKSTOWN LARRIKIN – Slow to begin. Over raced throughout the middle stages. ONEMORE TWIST – Apprentice N. Keal was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m, and in consecutive strides. RACE 5: PORT OF BRISBANE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP KHAPTIVATA – The start of the event was delayed when the gelding proved difficult to load. Trainer C. Smith was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse. MURPHY’S COAL DUST – Raced wide throughout. ONE LUCKY SHEILA – Raced wide without cover throughout the middle stages. MONSEIUR HUGHES – Failed to muster early speed, racing ungenerously throughout despite the best efforts of its rider.
