EdmonstoneVeterinarian – Border Vet Surgery Swab attendants – Border Vet Surgery Race 1: GUNDY PICNICS APRIL 8 BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1200m PRECIOUS EMBERS – A veterinary examination at the barriers revealed no abnormalities and the runner was passed fit to race. Raced wide throughout. On returning to scale apprentice N. Fazackerley advised that in his opinion the runner did not feel free in its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. SOLO SOPRANO – Began awkwardly DUPORCHE – Brushed another runner and had to be restrained from heels at the 900m. QUEEN OF CARDIFF – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Jockey L. Tilley advised that the mare has an aversion to soft or sand tracks and appreciated the firm rating of today’s track. Race 2: SAFEWIRE ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200m MEDAL AFRIQUE – Slow to go. BRAVE DAZZLER – Raced wide rounding the home turn and throughout the concluding stages. When questioned regarding his riding tactics, Apprentice N. Keal advised that his instructions were to ride the gelding in a rearward position until he reached the 600m where he was to place the horse under pressure. Stewards accepted Apprentice Keal’s explanation. Race 3: PAUL LYNCH INSURANCE SERVICES QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000mHIDDEN DRAFT – Shifted in at the 800m tightening another runner to the inside. Jockey D. McMaster was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground. MOLLY MIYAKO – Began awkwardly. Bounded shortly after the start. FREESTONE – Began very awkwardly losing considerable ground. Trainer S. Mcewan was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being uncompetitive. Race 4: AGRI SMART RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1000m SONIC BOOMER – Began awkwardly. Placed in restricted room by a runner at the outside at the 900m.DANGEROUS DANCER – Shortly after the start shifted in placing another runner in restricted room. Jockey N. Evans was subsequently advised to exercise more care.CLEVER GENT - Raced wide throughout the early stages. On returning to scale, Jockey G. Snowden reported that his mount became fractious in the barriers. POP’S SON – Slow to begin. Raced wide in the early stages.SMART OPTION – Held up rounding the home turn. Race 5: MORGANS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400mZAHA COUNTY – Over-raced throughout the early stages. JORJA’S JET – Slow into stride. Raced wide rounding the home turn. DESTINY’S DESIRE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the middle stages. Race 6: XXXX GOLD GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400m FREE BILLY – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages. BERNICHY – Declared a late scratching at 11:00am acting upon veterinary advice.
