Cooke Stewards – P. Jenkins Clerk of Scales – Q.R.I.C Stewards Judge – M. Moody Veterinarian – Dr M. Kneipp Swab Attendants – Dr M. Kneipp Starter – I. Henderson GENERAL As Apprentice A. Bakos was ill and unable to fulfill her riding engagements at the meeting, replacements were made as per the race day stewards summary. Apprentice Bakos was advised she would require a medical prior to returning to race riding. Race 1:QLD COUNTRY JOCKEYS HONOUR ROLL TOUR 20/21 QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200m D’OR DAME – Slow into stride MASSIE WHISPER – Inclined to over race throughout. WYETH – Fractious in barriers. Began awkwardly and lost ground. BEAN BAG – Began awkwardly. Race 2: BLACK TRUCKS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1200m DENMAN QUALITY – Began awkwardly. AMERICAN SUMMER – Began awkwardly. WICCAN REDE – Upon returning to scale, Apprentice I. Teh reported that the mare felt awkward in its action throughout. A Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. DENMAN QUALITY – Upon returning to scale, Apprentice I, Rabjones reported that in her opinion the gelding had difficulty with its breathing throughout and failed to respond to hard riding. Race 3: EASTERN DOWNS 2020 AWARDS PRESENTATIONS CLASS B HANDICAP – 1000m TORI TORONADO – Buffered between runners upon jumping. SAM’S ALLYCAT – Inclined to hang in throughout. MAHA MUSTANG – Began awkwardly forcing another runner to the outside wider on the track. JOLEN JOLEN – Forced wider on the track by another runner to the inside on jumping. Race 4:VERN KLEINSCHMIDT COMMUNITY TRUST GOONDIWINDI GOLD CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400M RITCHFORD – When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance trainer J. Crompton advised that this is geldings second start since returning from a spell and in her opinion, looking at the horses form, the gelding tends to derive a benefit from runs that are second up from a spell. Stewards noted Mrs Crompton’s explanation. PAT’S GIRL – Began awkwardly. OH WAY – Began awkwardly. Race 5: WELCOME BACK TO GUNSYND PARK BENCHMARK 50 BATTLERS HANDICAP – 1800M CAPTAIN CRUMPET – Slow to begin. RESONARE – Began awkwardly. ETHANOL GIRL – As Jockey P. Randall was overweight he was replaced by apprentice I. Rabjones as there was no senior rider available. Jockey P. Randall was subsequently fined $100 under AR.190(3) for accepting a ride when overweight.
