PEACHIES DREAM- when leaving the 400m point the Mare did shift in marginally when insufficiently clear of SPECIAL CASE resulting in its rider having to take hold at that point. When enquiring into the incident Stewards allowed Senior Jockey B Nothdurft to provide Ms Lang with support during the enquiry. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage available at the time, Stewards were of the opinion that PEACHIES DREAM did shift in marginally for a short distance inconveniencing the rider of SPECIAL CASE and therefore, acting under AR131(a) Stewards did reprimand Appr Lang for the incident. CYCLONE DIVA- Prior to the running of Race 3, Jky N Fazackerley reported to Stewards that he would be weighing out at 1.5kg (.5kg over the 1kg advertised) that he had Stewards permission to ride overweight in Races 3 and 4, as no other riders were able to make the weight allocated Stewards permitted Jky Fazackerley to take the rides and then subsequently fined N Fazackerley the sum of $200 under AR190(3) for being overweight. This may have resulted in the Mare being slowly away and tailed off for the early stages of the race. Trainer J Crompton was advised by Stewards and Starter I Henderson inspected the barriers to ensure they opened correctly for the remaining races. Stewards spoke with Jockey H Richardson regarding the horse’s performance during the event. Ms Richardson said she was disappointed with the run and she expected to be closer in running, she felt the slow barrier did not affect the horse’s performance and that she was pleased with the Mare’s performance over the final stages of the race.
