QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOONDIWINDI PICNIC RACE CLUB SATURDAY 15th APRIL 2023 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING –GOOD 4 RAIL – TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T PrestonStewards – D MacDonaldClerk of Scales – ClubJudge – M Kindt, G DonovanVeterinarian – Dr C McMahonAssistant- Dr Xi KohStarter – I HendersonPhoto Finish- A Hughes. Supplementary Dalby 20th January 2023 Race 5- Appr Jky Emily Lang – Acting under the provision of AR 131(a) Stewards reprimanded Appr Jky Emily Land in that during the running of Race 5 when approaching the 400m point she being the rider of PENNYWORTH did shift in marginally when not full clear of BERNIE” S TIGER ridden by Jky C Meehan who had to take hold of his mount. General Jky B Appo and Jky J Woodhouse did not ride at today’s meeting. Rider replacements as per the Stewards Summary. Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting: Race 3- Jky G Walters +1.5.0kg, Race 3- DERBY STAR- Jky S Sweedman, +1.0kg and Jky J Worley +1.0kg in Races 3 and 5. Race 1: DOYLE WILSON QTIS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1000 METRES STAYS ON TOUR- Declared a late scratching at 12.44pm due to no rider being available. No deductions applied as betting had not commenced. RIPPIN’READY- Reared at the start and lost ground. Trainer J Crompton was advised that a Warning would be placed on the horse in relation to the matter. JAQUEN H’GHAR- Began awkwardly. LADY SHANGHAI- Began awkwardly and bumped PETA CALADA to the inside shortly after the start. PETA CALADA-Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. Hung in and raced wide for the majority of the event. Trainer Mr G Barbierato was advised that a Warning would be placed on the horse. SUPREME HARMONY- Slow to begin then raced towards the rear of the field for the majority of the event. STARS’N’RICHES- When approaching the 200m shifted out to improve crossing another runner. As a result Jky G Walters had to ease. Appr Jky C Williams was advised by Stewards to exercise more care when crossing to ensure there is sufficient room when doing so. Race 2: LAWD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 METRE Stewards acting under the provision of AR205 declared the event a no race due to the start being affected when MISS KITIVA was not loaded. It was further apparent the rider of SEENUSCOMING had begun to pull up out of the event after hearing the siren with the remainder continuing to ride their mounts out. Stewards inquired into the matter and admonished Starter Mr I Henderson who gave an undertaking to review the practices in future meetings. RACE 3- AMBROSE HAULAGE RATINGS BAND 0- 60 HANDICAP 1200 METRES A delay to the start of Race 3 to 3.10pm due to Queensland Ambulance Service having to attend to a patron with a second ambulance being required. MOUNTBATTEN- Was slow to begin. ROACCI- Raced wide for the majority of the event. SERTIN- Dipped at the start. ZUMA- Due to no other rider being available Stewards permitted Jky G Walters to ride +1.5kg overweight. Raced wide for the majority of the event. RACE 4- KENWAY & CLARK/BROWN & HURLEY GOONDIWINDI PICNIC RACE CUP/ BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUAL OPEN PLATE 1200 METRES DALTORO- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority of the event. VOULAIT-Began awkwardly. Raced very keenly during the early stages of the event. Raced wide after entering the Home Straight then ran on strongly over the final stages of the event. RACE 5- HAYES SPRAYING CLASS B HANDICAP 1400 METRES TOMBOYS SPIRIT- Began awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier gate when jumping. Raced wide for the majority of the event. LYNCHED- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start. A PRETTY PENNY- On returning to scales Appr Jky L Barr advised Stewards that her barrier gate did not open with the other runners. Stewards heard a submission from Trainer Mr B Shepard and after viewing the video footage available to them under the provision of AR204(1)(b) Stewards declared THE PRETTY PENNY a non- runner and subsequently ordered that all monies invested on THE PRETTY PENNY to be refunded with the following deductions being applicable- Win- (BARTALUMBA) 10c and Place-10c, 2nd Place-10c and 3rd Place was NTD. BUBBLE BATH began awkwardly then bumped LYNCHED shortly after the start. CALIFORNIA SPELL- Began awkwardly and raced keenly from the 600m, had to ease of the heels of SQUADOM when that horse was weakening. Continued to over race from the 400m prior to entering the Home Turn then ran with its head in the air for some distance.
