QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT GOONDIWINDI RACE CLUB SATURDAY 29TH APRIL 2023 WEATHER – OVERCAST TRACK RATING GOOD 3- Races 1-4, Race 5- Good 4, Race 6- Slow 5 RAIL TRUE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T Preston Stewards – W Glass Clerk of Scales –Club Judge – Club Veterinarian –Dr Xin Koh Starter – I Henderson Photo finish Operator- A Hughes GENERAL Stewards permitted the following weight variations- Race 5- Jky J Worley +1.0 kg. Due to inclement weather the track was downgraded after the running of Race 4 to a Good 4 then after the running of Race 5 to a Soft 5 and further, Races 4, 5 and 6 starting times were amended to 2.45,3.10 and 3.40pm respectively. Race 1: KNIGHTS PLANT HIRE CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M KABALEGA- After being slow out of the gates the gelding was bumped by another runner shortly after the start, then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Ran on well after entering the home turn over the final stages. DARK ORIGINS- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. SUNNY EKCELS- Began awkwardly and bumped KABALEGA shortly after the start. CALIFORNIA SPELL- A pre- race veterinary examination was undertaken due to the horse racing at Cunnamulla on the 25th April 2023. This examination revealed the gelding was fit to race at today’s meeting. Began awkwardly with its head in the air. Race 2: BLACK TRUCK & AG BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1000M I’M JACKO- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. RIVER REECE- Enroute to the barriers the horse began to run fiercely for some distance before being eased and then walking to the barriers with the Clerk of the Course. Stewards ordered the horse undergo a pre-race veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to race. On jumping the gelding began okay then was gradually eased out of the race by Jky J Worley finishing well back in the field. Stewards questioned Ms Worley regarding the ride. She advised that in the preliminary it ran hard and after the start it didn’t feel right. Stewards ordered a further post-race Veterinary examination with the findings being the gelding was afflicted with poor post-race recovery, tachycardia and had evidence of cramping up. Stewards ordered post- race blood samples to be taken for analysis. Trainer Mr G Smith gave stewards an undertaking that should the gelding pull up sore or its condition worsen in coming days that he would notify Stewards as soon as practical. JOEY JAWS- Raced keenly during the early stages then hung out for the majority of the event. Trainer Mr C Storch was advised by Stewards that a Warning would be placed on the horse for hanging. Race 3: RON GLASSER FENCING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M HALLSIDE WILDTHING- Began slowly then raced at the rear of the field for the majority. RIVER LEO- Slow to begin. SUPER DUCK- Began awkwardly. DRUMS ON FIRE- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. GERTIE GOER- Began awkwardly when jumping outward then raced wide for the majority of the event. Tended to lay in after entering the home straight before being corrected by the rider. LASGO DON- Raced keenly with its head in the air during the early stages of the event. VOLCANIC GOLD- Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event. Race 4: THANKS TAPPY RATINGS BAND 0-58 HANDICAP 1400M FIOCCHI-Had its head in the air when jumping, then was slow into stride and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Began to hang in after entering the home straight for some distance before being corrected by the rider. THE DEFIANT ONE-Raced wide for the majority. MISS CINNAMONCIDER- Began awkwardly and bumped ARCHREGENCY shortly after the start. ARCHREGENCY- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and then raced wide for the majority of the event. ZABCAN- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Race 5: VERN KLEINSCHMIDT COMMUNITY TRUST GOONDIWINDI CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1400M ELUSIVE EAGLE- Raced wide with no cover for the majority of the event. Held up a for a run after entering the home straight and tended to lay in from the 200m, was forced to ease off the heels of OAKFIELD TARGET which tended to lay out under pressure over the final stages of the event.. TINTINWIN- Began awkwardly. WILD MOON- Blundered at approximately the 1200m point then raced at the rear of the field for the remainder of the event. Stewards ordered a post-race Veterinary examination to be undertaken due to the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance. This examination failed to detect any abnormalities. OAKFIELD TARGET- After entering the home straight laid in for some distance when under pressure before being corrected by the rider. RIVER MAC- Raced wide for the majority of the event. Race 6: REMEMBERING GUNSYND BATTLERS CUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1800M PACKAGE- Raced wide for the majority of the event. SHOOTING JET- Began awkwardly and bumped STAR DIVA shortly after the start. Over raced during the early stages of the event. GRATSIE- Raced wide for the majority. SMASHING LUCAS-Raced wide with no cover for the majority and laid out under pressure for some distance after entering the home straight. SHADIE MILLY- Began awkwardly throwing its head in the air and lost ground shortly after the start, then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event being uncompetitive at 26l off the 7th placed horse. Stewards ordered a post-race Veterinary examination to be undertaken with no abnormalities being detected. Stewards advised Trainer N Hemmings that the horse would be required to obtain a barrier pass before its next start for being uncompetitive. STAR DIVA- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground racing wide for the majority.
