Race 3: LEGACY LIVESTOCK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by App T Noble, rider of 2nd placegetter LIGHT UP THE DAWN, against 1st placegetter MR GORMAN, citing interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from connections and reviewing the patrol footage Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference had a tangible effect on the placings and dismissed the protest ordering correct weight on the Judges placings.

MR GORMAN- As the gelding was having its first start after an arthroscopic procedure, announcements were made to that effect by way of oncourse announcement. Laid out passing the 200m making marginal contact with LIGHT UP THE DAWN.

Race 5: HAYES SPRAYING/WEED IT BATTLERS CUP BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1800m

Due to an equipment malfunction no photo-finish image was captured for this event.

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by App R Thorburn, rider of 2nd placegetter MASTER OF MENACE, against 1st placegetter EXTASSY, citing interference inside the final 100m. After taking evidence from connections and reviewing the patrol footage Stewards determined that approaching the 50m EXTASSY shifted out under riding making contact with MASTER OF MENACE causing that runner to be taken wider and its rider to become unbalanced. Considering the nature of the interference, the beaten margin, the manner in which both runners finished off the event and the proximity of the interference to the winning-post Stewards determined that the interference did have a tangible effect of the result and had the interference not occurred that MASTER OF MENACE would have finished ahead of EXTASSY. As such the protest was upheld and prior to the declaration of correct weight the Judges placings were amended as follows:

1st – MASTER OF MENACE
2nd – EXTASSY
3rd – RUDIMENTARY
4th – KLATTEN

BOULT- Raced wide in the early stages. Tired in the home straight. Trainer K Monckton advised that, in her opinion, the gelding had trained off and would now be freshened-up prior to racing again. Stewards noted the explanation.

RUDIMENTARY- Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages.

RED OSCAR- After beginning on terms with the field was unable to muster the speed necessary to maintain its position and assumed a trailing position throughout. Finished off fairly.

EXTASSY- Laid out over the final 50m hampering MASTER OF MENACE.

MASTER OF MENACE- Hampered over the final 50m.
