QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORTGOONDIWINDI JOCKEY CLUB SATURDAY 22ND FEBRUARY 2025WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 3OFFICIALSStewards – S Coulthard (Chair), W Glass.GENERALAs App Jockey Z Sprie was unable to attend today’s meeting, changes were made as per the Stewards summary. App Sprie was advised he would require a medical clearance prior to next race ride or trial.Race 1:THE LARDER / SHOT 2 U MAIDEN PLATE 1400mILEGITIMO - Fractious prior to start and was slow to begin, then shortly after was steadied when inconvenienced by RESTLESS LADY. Near the 800m was severely inconvenienced by fallen horse and rider then finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. PRIDE OF SAVABELLA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Near the 800m was severely inconvenienced by fallen horse and rider. NIA – Fell near the 800m dislodging rider P Hamblin. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into this matter to a time and date to be determined. P Hamblin was examined by QAS officers and a concussion assessment carried out under the QRIC concussion protocol before continuing his remaining rides. A post-race veterinary examination of NIA revealed minor grazing to the left fore cannon. RESTLESS LADY – Bucked shortly after the start causing ILEGITIMO to be steadied. Near the 800m was severely inconvenienced by fallen horse and rider. Trainer A Park was advised the filly would be required to trial/jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. Race 2:TOMS TARPS / TWIDALE AUTO / FULL BOAR WELDING BENCHMARK 55 HCAP 1400mDeclaration of correct weight was significantly delayed allowing Stewards to ascertain how the start of the event had been effected when GOVERNOR GENERAL was not loaded into the barrier. After taking evidence from Starter Mr I Henderson and all riders and trainers it was determined that Mr Henderson had erred by effecting the start when GOVERNOR GENERAL was still to be loaded into the barrier. After consideration of the matter Stewards determined, with consideration to AR204, that in addition to GOVERNOR GENERAL, both WHAT A WEEKEND and SENSE OF HUMOUR were to be declared non-starters having been encumbered as the start was effected when GOVERNOR GENERAL had not been loaded into the barrier. Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GOVERNOR GENERAL, WHAT A WEEKEND and SENSE OF HUMOUR to be refunded with the following deductions ordered applicable to all successful wagers:20cents in the dollar for the win23cents in the dollar for the place on the winner23cents in the dollar for 2nd place23cents in the dollar for 3rd placeAdditionally, Stewards admonished Mr Henderson and directed that he review his communication processes at the barrier, further, Stewards intend to contact Goondiwindi Race Club to engage a review into their starting procedures more generally. BELLE'S BOY – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination as the gelding had raced on the 18/02/2025 and was passed fit to start.ASGOODASYOUGETT – Raced four wide without cover until the 800m. MISHANI PHAROAH – Over-raced early. Raced three wide with no cover for the majority.Race 3:MCLAUGHLIN MECHANICAL / GUNDY MECHANICAL / MAKIM BUILDERS QTIS Class B Hcap 1200mSTROMA ASTER – Rider dropped whip near the 200m. BEE TWO – Bumped on two occasions shortly after the start.SUENITO – Raced three wide with no cover for the majority.CASINO CAT – Lost ground near the 800m after making contact with the inside running rail. MODISTE - Bumped on two occasions shortly after the start.HALF MOON ROO – Was held up for clear running on entering the home straight before being hampered approaching the 100m when SNAKESKIN (W O’Connell) shifted in. Jockey W O’Connell was advised to take greater care when shifting ground. TSUKINO – Laid in when under pressure in the home straight. RED NEBULA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. Raced three wide with no cover for the majority.SPILLA – Approaching the 100m hung in before being corrected by its rider.READY TO MINGLE – Jumped awkwardly. Race 4:TUCKWELL TRANSPORT / HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH BENCHMARK 55 1000m SNEAKY SHARK – Very slow to begin and to muster early speed. Trainer P Edwards was advised the gelding would require to trial/jump out to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again. GALACTIC LEGEND – Bumped on jumping.MR BROSE – Raced three wide without cover for the majority. VOULAIT – Jumped awkwardly bumping GALACTIC LEGEND.MISS MOSCATO - Raced three wide without cover for the majority. Laid in when under pressure in the home straight.RUM REVOLUTION – Crowded at the start when bumping with ROTHERO ESSGEE and had to be steadied.ADDICTIVE PIRANHA – Jumped awkwardly then steadied when racing in restricted room between GALCTIC LEGEND and RUM REVOLUTION both of which shifted ground after being bumped.ROTHERO ESSGEE –Bumped on the hindquarters soon after the start becoming momentarily unbalanced. Raced three wide with cover for the majority. Race 5:YOUNG GUNS OPEN HANDICAP 1000mBEAN DANCING – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. GALEKA – Slow into stride.
